    Getting Ready for Surgery

It will be a very hard road after the surgery but keep your eyes on the price. Most people gain there weight back 10 years from now and asked to get another surgery. Which they need to change the way they think about food and how they are eating. Make sure you pack a long cord to charge your cell phone with a outlet wall charge plugger.
  3. I need to cut out coffee! This one is going to be hard and I am slowly stop drinking soda.
  4. Curious as to why surgery is an option at 156 lbs... Is it to resolve the gastroparesis? And is bypass the only option because of GERD? Yes, it is to resolved the GERD, EOE, Gastroenteritis and Fatty Liver issues that I have. Yes, my GI doctor and Baratric Surgeon both agree that I can ONLY do Bypass. The other reason why is I am doing this is because I am going to be donating my kidney as well.

    Surgery Date???

Got approve for surgery in early June 2019 but my surgeon only had opening end of July and early August. I picked Aug 6. I was not in a rush and it gives me time to fill out my FMLA form for work. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dr Submitted(pprwrk) as Urgent

Cigna approve me in 4 days. It was not urgent since my surgeon did not have any dates until Aug 2019. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I would shoot for bypass since you have acid reflex like me. I have gastroparesis and GERD as well and went with bypass. However, my BMI is 36 and I weight only 156 so I only had one option is bypass. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Insurance Approval

My insurance company (Cigna) called me as well and said, "Congratulations, your weight loss surgery is approved!" I was like ... wait, what! I was not finish doing all my test before submit to y'all and they were like no problem! You are still approve. I was kind of surprise that my surgeon team submit it without telling me. Kind of took the fear out of me and the anxiety!

    Switching Surgeons

I am very sorry that you are having this experience! I am also impatient but I had two surgeon going at the same time and see which one I got approve faster with. I had all my paperwork in when I first met them and just needed a couple more done. I was always calling them or e mailing them. Cigna was great to approve mine fast! I would bug the turkey out of the office or make a personal visit. This is your life they are playing with and you don't take a NO for an answer! If worst case comes, you have back up copy of your test and/or approval letters for surgery from other doctors and go with another weight loss surgeon. Keep us posted!

    Test before surgery

Everybody has a difference requirement for there insurance company and/or surgeon team. Before I even meet my surgeon, I had a upper endoscopy, HIDA scan, gi nutrition e val, nut e valve, gi doc saying what I needed for surgery and his PA backing up his claim with a PLAN B, my pcp cleared me. The only things that I needed was a sleep study, 24 hr ph test, gastro empty stomach test, blood work, ultrasound, pulm doc clearence, ekg and physical with chest x ray. But, my surgeon team turn in all my paperwork before I had my 24 hr Ph test, ultrasound and sleep study and I was still approved by Cigna. Hope you get everything approve. I am not doing this for weight loss like everybody else on here... I am doing it to help my gastroparesis and GERD to go away. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Cigna (Recent Apporval)

I personally pick August 2019 because I will be out of the country all of July 2019. During my surgeon hunt, I had Mcdreamy office staff treat me like that but the surgeon was amazing. I was like hell no, I will not be treated like this and look for somebody else. Plus, I found out were Mcdreamy was going to preform the surgery at a hospital that was out of network with my insurance. So, that was another reason why I did not go with Mcdreamy office. Yes, he was super cute and oh man... so good looking! I memorized the who baratric guidelines for Cigna and got most of my appointment done before I even met my surgeon. So, I had a quick approval from Cigna. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app
