I waited 5 months...now I drink about 4 cups a day with a little almond creamer. It hasn't done any harm.

Two weeks out and sometimes I have to run to bathroom

artificial sweeteners caused me to have bad diarrhea. My surgeon told me some people can't handle them without food. I stopped taking any in, and it went away. -

Weighing your food on a food scale
Stitches78 replied to chaibaix's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will weigh my food depending on what it is, and depending on how hungry I am. If I'm really hungry, I measure everything so I don't over do it. However, I'm pretty good at judging size. I was very strict about weighing and measuring at first...but sometimes, I just don't have the time to do that. -

9 months post-op... poop question (sorry)

IBS? I have that and that's about what it sounds like. If you don't take a good probiotic, I recommend them. -
Do you know if you had a catheter? Those things are horrible after they come out. I had one in for something else, and I had bladder issues and pain when I peed. I also got an infection. I'm glad my doctor didn't put one in this time.

I've talked to several people who had the band and went to the sleeve. They all had great results. Of course, everyone is different. Do your research before. But, the sleeve is great and issues have been minimal.

20 minutes can be hard to hit. But, you should base it on how small your meal is. I barely eat anything, so it does me no good to make a very small meal last 30 minutes. Just eat as slow as you can.

Protein shakes for picky protein drinkers
Stitches78 replied to branlee90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm going to recommend legion protein powder. It's awesome and doesn't have chemicals. -
I didn't take my machine to the hospital. I was too nervous and just didn't think about it. They had one there I could use. Didn't matter. Between having to pee every hour or so and being woken up to walk around and for blood work and medication, I think I got 2 hours of sleep...and it wasn't all at once.

Well, I was diagnosed with apnea in november, got a machine for 1,000 dollars. Haven't finished paying it off, and I no longer need it. I had surgery almost 6 weeks ago and I'm now paying for an expensive paperweight. So, I would say no, don't waste your money. However, there is no guarantee that yours will clear up. I think it depends on how bad your apnea was. I wasn't sleeping at all. I was waking up so much I might as well have just never gone to bed.

Venting about my husband
Stitches78 replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor made it a point to tell me that having surgery can cause marital issues. I got lucky. My wife decided she was going to use this as a chance to change things around for her. She and I are on a similar diet and she gets as much exercise as I do. We just cut out going out to eat. We do experiment with new recipes and everything, and that kind of helps keep the diet in check. I used to take zoloft for my ocd. It should actually make him less hungry...but it can really screw with your sleep. It also makes you sweat a lot. I remember I went on a trip, and I was on a plane for 7 hours, and I was sweating the whole time. It was awful. The thing about those types of drugs, is you need to find the right ones that work for you. So, the zoloft might not be working. He needs to go see the doctor...and he needs to talk to someone. Just taking the drugs won't help, you have to work on your issues as well. I'm not sure if the bathing thing and teeth brushing was like that before...but he needs to kind of know that's not ok. And of course there will always be an excuse not to go to therapy. Hell, I came up with reasons not to go. Guys tend to see it as a weakness. But he needs to go. Clearly, something is going on, and it has to be addressed. I also get the whole thing about having a device attached to you all the time. My wife is the same way. She's always got her face buried in her phone. Drives me nuts. There has to be some kind of rules. I hate to say that...but unfortunately, if that kind of behavior is not addressed, it will cause problems. He's not a child, but he's acting like one. I'm not sure what kind of talks you've had with him...but if he's not willing to do anything to make things better, it is not fair to you, nor your children. I'm not saying to dump him, but if you love him, and you want things to work out, then he needs to understand that things can't continue the way they are. It's ok to come on here and gripe about things. We all need to get things out of us. It's healthy. I really hope things work out. It sucks to see someone self-destructing when you're trying to move things in a more positive direction. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works out. -
If you like refried beans, try those. I water some down and put a little cheese on them. Get the low fat ones. I also found a cheese dip that had a good amount of protein. But, I didn't hit my protein until after I got into the soft foods...even then it was hard. If you have a good shake, that should cover most of it. I used legion powder with lactose free milk. That was about 30 grams right there.

They tell you that once they have all the paperwork, it can take a month...but mine took 2 days. And from what I've heard, others have had similar experiences. I'm just surprised the doctors scheduled it before they had approval. I'm sure it will come in.
