Fluffy, You are soooo right. I am relieved. So if you dont mind, can I adopt you as my WLS pen pal [emoji4]. I figured with the same date we are kindred sister spirits. Next weekend will be considered my "last supper". Have you got your pre-op proteins yet? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Weirdest things you are looking forward to after surgery
Purpledva replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am soooo looking forward to the following............... Being able to wear high heels again. Bending over and not having that extra real estate in the middle Going up a flight of stairs and not be out of breath Being able to get around much better Shopping for a new wardrobe -
Welcome KimmieGirl, I am somewhat a newbie.... I think I joined May 7th. I am scheduled for June 3rd. So my time is fast approaching. If you are looking for information and a welcoming community......then you have landed in the right place. Ask questions... seek answers and then ask questions again. Good Luck on your WLS journey.🌝

Thanks Everyone For your words of support and expertise........... I had my final consultation with the surgeon and he gave the all CLEAR. I sat in the chair as if it were surreal. It turns out that my previous EKG was fine and they even used information from a previous stress test. My surgeon did ask if I were diabetic (because for the longest time I was in denial). I told him yes and he suggested that due to the diabetes, it can sometimes bring in serious complications and speed up heart disease. So when he said that, I was like I AM totally ready.

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Purpledva replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am back from my visit with the surgeon. Everything looks good and he gave me the all CLEAR🤨. I asked about the results of my "abnormal ecg/ekg". I told him that since I had the results (from all the scheduled tests blood, etc), I had been consulting Dr. Google.😲 He told me that since I have diabetes (Type 2 on Metformin), it may eventually lead to heart disease. So that may be the cause of the reading on the ekg/ecg. I had a previous ecg/ekg in August and there were no issues. So there I sat in the chair. It seemed all surreal. I have finally made it to the finish line. After about 8 years of stopping and going, I am there. I am both happy and sad. Only sad because there will be some foods that I will have to definitely give up. But I will be gaining so much more in the end. I recently reviewed by medical summary from 2017 to the present. In June 2017, I weighed 262 and today I weighed 228😮. I was amazed because I did that with a few changes in my eating patterns and I try to get in atleast 4-5 miles of waking each day (if possible). So after surgery, I can hopefully get rid of 80lbs or so. My goal weight is 140 but I will accept anything between 140 -155. I did ask about swapping out some of the protein shakes (during my pre-op diet) for the protein soups that I have seen @ the Bariatric Pal store, My surgeon suggested that I follow their diet strictly by the book at least for the first 6 months then after that I can experiment with whatever I want. So, I am going to listen to my surgeon. Anywhoo, as Trinity said in one of my favorite movies, The Matrix............."I'm IN" -

Well tomorrow is my visit with my surgeon. My surgery date is June 3rd. So I see I have a few surgery buddies. I am a bit nervous but I have been going back and forth for a few years now with the decision of WLS. So now It's time to put up and get my "1985" back. That is what I will call my post op body.... The 1985 Leda🤣 -

[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] I haven't started yet. The biggest thing for me is psyching myself out mentally. I am sure I will be downright batty when I am in the preop diet phase but nothing worth having is easy. I want my 1985 body back. June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Purpledva replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bullet, I really wanted McDonald's last night after leaving the pre-op education class😨 But I talked myself out of it. I start my pre-op diet on Memorial Day. And guess what????? I am having a cookout the Sunday before Memorial Day. I figured it will be like my "last supper"😰 And today, I was craving chocolate chip 🍪cookies and a glass of milk. So I ended up doing some yard work and then taking my 🐶 Riley for a couple of walks. And the walking took my mind off those delicious 🍪cookies. You gotta talk yourself out of those sudden cravings. If this surgery is going to have any long term success, I will have to be strong and you will and can too. Just my two cents of encouragement.........Cause We are going to need it. Good luck and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! -

You know in the pre-op education last night, the nurse did say that we could have coffee during the pre-op because to quit caffeine cold turkey would bring an onslaught of headaches. But after surgery no caffeinated coffee, tea, etc. I was not a happy camper when I found this out. But I have done some research and found a pretty DAMN good decaf coffee. Since I have a Keurig, Peet's Coffee makes a wicked house blend decaf. And trust me I know my coffee, you won't even know the difference. So if you still want your coffee, give it a try. -

Purpledva replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am still feeling a bit nervous. I am questioning whether or not I have made the right decision. I keep telling myself that I come this far and there is no need to turn back now. Anyways, I have been approved so it is like having a blank check.... I just have to get through the clearance hurdle and hopefully my nerves will calm down. Tomorrow, I will attend my pre-op education class, so I will come back let everyone know what went on. So until tomorrow, have a great rest of your weekend. The JuneBunch😄 -

JamesL73, Welcome to the JuneBunch. I am new here as well. I am just curious if you can answer this question or not... But what is the difference between a Mini Gastric Bypass and a regular Gastric Bypass? Anywhoooo......Welcome and wishing all the best when you journey to Mexico. -
Zemi, I have an appointment this week with the surgeon. After my visit with him, hopefully I can call my cardiologist and get in to have all these things checked out. I will keep everyone posted. I have put this off for almost 8-9 years. And I want to be able to move forward...........Stay tuned..........
