I don't think that there is a one-size-fits-all eating plan out there. But maybe watching carbs is just what you need to avoid the head hunger/cravings. I don't exactly do low carb...more like low GI. I don't count carbs grams, fat grams calories etc. But I am choosy about what carbs I eat. I eat veggies and some fruit so I am getting my Fiber. But I avoid the sugars and the starches. I eat lean protein, followed by high fiber veggie and a small serving of fruit or a couple prunes (two prunes with two meals a day is great for constipation). I will eat 1/2 slice whole wheat Carb Countdown wrap bread or a tiny serving of potato but only once or twice a week and not all at one time. No Pasta, rice, crackers, white flour, sugar etc.

Yes, that is normal, sounds like maybe you had too much (food was backed up into your esophagus).

If your hair loss is due to trauma (surgery) it will correct itself on its own. If you hair loss is due to lack of Biotin and B-Vitamins then taking Biotin or a Hair, Skin and Nails supplement will help. If your hair loss is due to a deficiency in protein then making sure that you are getting a minimum of 60G of protein a day will help. Above are three most common causes for hair loss after WLS. In all three cases, the hair loss will start approximately three months after the cause occurs and once you start treating the cause it will take another three months for the problem to resolve itself. Your best bet is to make sure you are taking your multi-vitamins, getting all of your protein and whether your loss is Biotin related or not, taking Biotin or a Hair, Skin and Nails formula certainly won't hurt and it can really do wonders for your hair and nails! Then just give it time. My surgeon said that after many years in the business none of his patients have gone bald due to surgery.

Why? Because you say so?...You are not qalified to give me advice on my relationship with my mother, which by the way is wonderful. Even my mother does not expect me to believe everything that she does. And although age does give people more life experience, it does not make them automatically smarter.

That was/is my first thought when these end of the world folks get jumping (sorry to say my Mom is one of 'em) It shows how narrow minded folks can be. Of all the atrocities that have happened in this WORLD throughout history , all the terrible things happening now in other countries (and ours) what it is actually going to come down to is who won the 2008 presidential election in the United States...that will be the final factor in bringing an end to this world :biggrin:...just seems too narrow-minded to me.

Can you give some examples of meals that you are eating and what type of exercise you do? I have PCOS and am doing fine. As a matter of fact, I no longer need my Metformin and my PCOS symptoms are almost completely controlled. The band does work for us too, it takes a little more work and we have to watch what we eat but it does work. -

My favorite frozen meal is South Beach. The portions are just right and they focus on high protein low glycemic. -
At my last fill I was in the waiting room and next up for my fill and I found out that the other lady in the waiting room was waiting for an emergency unfill because she had a stomach virus. I was asked if it was OK for her to go ahead of me. Which I of course agreed to but I was so afraid that I would get what she had...I swear I could catch a stomach virus over the telephone! I would check with your doc though.

:tongue: OK Megs, its all your fault...now I am having crazy dreams! Last ight I dreamed that my DH was going to murder some guy (no idea who he was or why) and I was too afraid to stop him. It was so real and my heart was thumping when I woke up. What a horrible dream!

Some of those Nutisystem meals make good "convenience" meals. Big Lots has some of their food and I bought several cans of stew and chili and keep them in the cupboard for a quick meal...they are the perfect size. -

It might, but it is very possible that once you get a fill or two you will find that it is not necessary. Personally, I would not choose to go that route. I got the Lap Band to get out of the endless dieting cycle. For me, it was either go with one of those programs (again :tongue:) OR get the surgery. Surgery alone is working great. I do stay away from foods that I know are not good for me when trying to lose weight (CARBS) but for the most part I do not diet and I do not need to diet. I follow the band rules and eat the foods that I like; the band keeps me from eating more than I should or getting hungry before my next meal. I suggest that you just wait and see. Maybe you will need that structure from WW (in the beginning, due to my lifelong dieting mentality I thought I would ) but there is a good chance you will not. -
I agree, that would be great. But the ACLU would be all over that and it would never happen.

I didn't have sleep apnea but I was thinking of the same possible explanation that bandfun4me gave. I do sleep much better, I slee deeper and sleep through the night and I dream more. I attribute that to all of the healthy improvements that I have made since banding: weight loss, improved diet, less caffeine, increased exercise and stopping smoking.

I agree with the last few posts. The critical bigotry is exactly what drives me and many others away from organized religion, and I think THAT is an abomination. I stopped being involved in church because I could no longer accept the negative, judgmental and disparaging environment I found from too many "religious" people. I have also avoided a good friend who through religion became so critical of everyone and everything. We grew up together and went to church together and I still love her but I can not have that constant negativity in my life, especially when it is handed out in the name of God. I was taught that God loves ALL of us and in the end HE will do the judging. Stop spending so much time judgin others and work on your own very obvious faults. Learn to love all Gods children and leave judgement to him.

You know, early on I was frustrated because the scale wasn't moving but then I found out I was still getting smaller. People were commenting about my weight loss and my clothes were getting looser. I am not the only one that experienced this either. So watch how your clothes fit and look for comments from others. Maybe even measure yourself and you might find it to be the same for you. I know what you mean about Thanksgiving, I scheduled a fill just before just in case I need one. But I was told that many people do not want a fill around the holidays because they want to eat more for the holidays(some even ask for slight unfills)...not me, I don't want the holidays to wreck my progress. Just be patient and your fill will come. Even without a fill, I am sure your band and your willpower will keep you from being too naughty... -

That is correct. When you start getting fills, it will take less food to satisfy you and that little bit of food will keep you satified longer. -
You are absolutely right, going less frequently is normal in our case for the reason you explained and it is really nothing to worry about. I go about every other day now. But constipation is a different story and needs to be dealt with.
