African American RNY Sisters
TheJuice202 replied to mzheatherp's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Why do certain people do this whenever people of color particularly black folks come together? You couldn't help yourself. Do not "all lives matter" this thread. Us wanting to bond with each OTHER does not mean we don't want to bond with everyone else. -
I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞
TheJuice202 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was not ready for that pic. But :(. How common is getting a hernia and small bowel obstruction after gastric bypass? I'm sorry you had to go through such a brutal and long procedure :/. Glad you're still with us. -

Sucks you had to go through such pain but glad you've been fixed up and are healing. You post really well for being medicated lol. -
It's Getting Real!
TheJuice202 replied to shannamarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What sf pops are you on? I've been on a serious hunt for sugar-free pops. I have some from the brand Popsicle. And a few from Outshine.....but technically the Outshine ones I have are just a 'no sugar added' version that technically isn't entirely sugar free but the flavors close (like 1g-2g per popsicle depending on the flavor). -
July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
TheJuice202 replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did they give you stool softeners when you were in the hospital or a prescription when they sent you home? My first post-op bm came day 4. Yours should be happening soon lol. -
Yeah the only sugar free pops I've found were from the brand Popsicle. Outshine has a 'no sugar added' version that technically isn't sugar free but the flavors close (like 2g per popsicle). Outside of those seems like the best thing to do is get creative making your own SF pops.

What Food Is Your Kryptonite?
TheJuice202 replied to MrsGamgee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well I can have low-fat cheese but I don't recall ever trying it before. I used to like putting a crazy amount of cheese in and on stuff....can't do that anymore. -

Anything with cheese on it or that has chocolate in it. -
How much weight did you lose before people noticed?
TheJuice202 replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
I've only lost a hair shy of 24lbs and my mother swears my face has slimmed down significantly and well as my sides a tiny bit. Of course...I don't see any difference. -
Having surgery tomorrow and I cheated
TheJuice202 replied to Nancy doing this all for me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a last hurrah when I probably shouldn't have but surgery went off without a problem the next day. 7:30pm the night before I had a personal sized flatbread pizza with bbq pulled pork & banana peppers plus a peach margarita. My surgery was 11am the next day. When I was waiting to get rolled into surgery I overheard a guy getting prepped for his own surgery tell a nurse (after she asked him when he'd last eaten anything solid) "I cheated......A LOT" and the nurse said to him "oh that's okay people cheat on their pre-op diet all the time, you'll be fine". Nancy, i'm super certain you'll be alright. -
I am on Colace. First week I was taking 2 a day.....now i'm down to needing only 1 a day.
-
Wow. I like to drink every once in a blue moon but can live without it. I was advised to lay off of booze for at least 1 yr after surgery.....it's not a problem for me (I did it for almost 2 yrs straight before way before surgery).
-
I've heard it's hard for Medicaid or Medicare to cover it unless you're getting like really bad rashes or something and surgeons deem the skin removal medically necessary.

Scared I won't qualify!
TheJuice202 replied to jennifer47's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be able to. I am 5'5'' and was 288.9 with high blood pressure, mild sleep apnea and hypertension/high blood pressure. My BMI was/is over 40. I have straight Medicaid (D.C.). -
I walked about 1 mile 4 days after surgery before it became too much. It's gotten better as the days tick on. At the time that was great for me because Day 3 I could barely stand up straight or walk more than 2 blocks without sitting (huge difference 1 day made).

What was your moment?
TheJuice202 replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Someone assuming I was very far along in pregnancy (never been pregnant (also have an IUD)) and my pcp saying the words 'pre-diabetic' and 'mild sleep apnea' to me last yr. -
I have met a few people that have gotten revisions but most people i've met that got the sleeve are happy with it (but so are pretty much most of the people that have gotten the bypass too).
-
Wow that's a funny and positive way of looking at it (the pain from overeating).

I finally get why people dont tell others they had weight loss surgery!
TheJuice202 replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got that from my brother today -_-. He saw me scrambling 1 single solitary egg earlier and tried to turn the stove off while I was cooking also what I call tell-asking (sounds like they're asking you but they're telling you) "it's too soon for you to be eating eggs". I was like "I LITERALLY just got approved from my dietitian AND my surgeon today to start reintroducing soft soft foods and I think they know better than you" -_-. -
How long until you could sleep on your stomach?
TheJuice202 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not able to yet :/. 2 of my incision sites need to close up more. -
Wow....mine only called for 2 (actually more like 10-11 days). I just graduated to slowly introducing soft food.
