    Covid Test!

I’ve had to do it twice now for work. The first time was a swab in the nose and the other was a throat swab. Throat wasn’t bad at all. The nose was slightly uncomfortable. The nurse had described it as a feeling of water up your nose and some pressure, that was pretty spot on. I’ve learned that it really depends on the nurse doing it. If the nurse isn’t that good it could be really painful. Thankfully mine wasn’t bad.
  2. A couple months after my surgery I had the same thing happen. It was falling out like crazy. Thankfully it slowed down to normal hair loss and I’m starting to get some regrowth. I’m waiting to cut my hair until I have some length on the regrowth (right now I’m just trying to hide the regrowth because it looks like fly aways). Right now my hair stylist and I are treating them very carefully and making sure to give it as much love as possible. I’m making sure to take all my prescribed supplements and get as much protein as I can.

    VSG + Hiatal Hernia Repair

I went in for my vsg and they found I had hiatal hernia. So they fixed it while they were already in there. The pain wasn’t bad. Had about 2 days of pain meds (mainly at night). What was the worse for me was when I was trying to swallow during the first part of my recovery. If I had a little to much at one time my chest would hurt from where they stitched the hernia. I still have to be careful with how much I swallow at once but it’s definitely not as bad as when I got my surgery done.
  4. I had the same problem but mine was because the found I had a hiatal hernia and fixed it so it had to heal. I’m about a month and a half out and I still get backed up sometimes. I also am getting some annoying burps. Not sure why.
  5. I’m about to start my purée stage of my recovery and I have to go out of town for work all next week. I’m going to be taking some things and my measuring cups. Any ideas on hotel living (I’ll have access to a mini fridge and microwave) and/or out to eat ideas for food during the purée stage??

    Post sleeve feelings

I had my surgery on 7/23 too. They also found that I had a hernia so they fixed that as well. Everyday has had a new challenge but it’s all been doable. I’m definitely lacking energy due to the low calorie intake but today is better. I’ve been trying to stay as hydrated as possible but it’s definitely hard. I’m not hungry but every commercial I see or video on FB makes me crave food. But that’s completely my mind. I just keep telling myself that’s what got me into this situation in the first place, so I’ve been looking up healthy version of the items instead. Like all of you I’m definitely ready to move to the purée stage, mainly for something other than protein shakes.

    Medication

I actually just picked up my medications for surgery next week and called my surgery nurse to make sure it was correct since one is a capsule and one is a small tablet. She said we can take pills if they are as small as a pens cap and then the capsule she said to open and put on applesauce or something. The bottles didn’t say that though. So if you have questions on it I would call your nurse or surgeon.

    July 2019

Just got my date today! July 23rd!
  9. I just got my surgery date today and I’m scheduled the same day as you! While I’ve been going through the approval process I started to cut back and will start cutting it out altogether when I start my month long pre op diet.
  10. Depends on your insurance. Mine required 6 months with my PCP. We have certain paperwork we had to fill out each visit that my surgeon had given me. Your 2 previous month should usually work if they was no break between the visits. I would call your insurance.

    First appointment

My first appointment I met with the surgeon and he went over what the surgery would entail and answered any questions. It was rather quick but then I met with the coordinator who went over everything my insurance will require, costs and what needs to be completed before surgery. In all it took 30 mins but not 30 with the surgeon only.
  12. My insurance requires it as well, I have my final appointment on Wednesday. Every appointment we go over a worksheet that my surgeons office provided. We log my weight, talk about what eating habits I’m doing, different exercises I’m doing, what things I’ve put in place to create/keep good habits in my lifestyle. Then at the end she will provide the worksheets and a letter of support to my surgeons office and they will submit that with my other documents to my insurance.

    Pre-Op Diet

Any recommendations for protein shakes (preferably grab and go shakes) that don’t have lactose in them that still taste good??? My surgery center has a brand they recommend but they don’t sit well and I don’t think I’ll be able to use them for the month pre surgery and for who knows how long after. Any recommendations would be helpful!!
  14. I’m in the same boat right now! I don’t have approval yet (still in the pre-approval stage) and I can’t lose to much or they won’t approve but of course you can’t gain. My insurance requires 6 months of monitoring by a physician so it’s been 5 months of it unease with one more month before submittal to insurance. Good luck! And if you find any tips please let me know!
