  1. Happy 39th Birthday Brad5874!

  2. Happy 38th Birthday Brad5874!

  3. Not sure if this helps...but I was banded 5-22-08 nearly 6 months later than you and have received 4 fills already and I was told I have a new style band that holds 14cc and Im to 7.3cc already and Im Very tight inthe morning and can only take liquids such as protien and milk. I do eat in the afternoon but it is not much. Some days I feel I can eat more than others but with each fill becomes less. So all I can say is that as you get your fills your restriction will become more consistent and reliable. At least thats what I feel with mine.

    Long Term Follow Up?

Well not personal experience, even though I have done very well my 21/2 months being banded. A close friend was banded over 5 years ago when nobody in my town did the procedure. He was and still is highly addicted to sugar and sweets but thanks to the band and working out very hard is a slim person now. We compare storiesd, his addiction to sugar and sweets is far worse than any food addiction i know and experience and he is slim and doing great! When he had the surgery it was not very much heard of surgery and was forced to go to Mexico...which is a decision he is actually happy to say he liked other than aftercare accessibility. But my Dr has recently taken him on as an aftercare patient for checkups and such. All in all I can say he has had no complications that I know of and 5+ years of super successful banding. And unless you saw pics of him before you wold never know he was ever an obese person and he is my personal inspiration!
  5. My port is pretty easily accessible and I can feel it just under the surface and I have had 3 fills with relative ease. The Physicians Aid that does mine is pretty cute girl so I dont mind her touching me anyways. She only does 1cc per visit and I go every 2 weeks until Im at my sweet spot. Yesterday i told her I was not happy with the past 2 weeks since I actually gained a pound so she did 1.5cc so Im at 6.3 in a 14cc band. I feel more restricted now and going back in 2 more weeks.

Why won't this gas go away?!?

For me gas x and walking helped a little. When it was really bad I layed on my side and pulled my knees up as close as possible to my body and hopefully with a little time quite a bit of that gas would escape. I made sure I stayed on top of my walking also as that dissipates the gas supposedly. For the 1st 3 or 4 days I made sure to get up every 1 to 2 hours and walk a MINIMUM of 200 steps. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and have ZERO gas pain and havent since the 1st week so it worked for me.

    Sore Spot

What she said...they put the port there and sew the port to your stomach muscles. That area will hurt the most and for the longest. Mine is still a little sore sometimes but mostly good to go.

    First Fill

I was banded on May 23rd and I have been doing alot of cardio and lost 19 lbs so far. I am getting more and more hungry and am looking into getting my 1st fill earlier than my June 29th appt. But as for the noise and stomach rumbling I also have it ALOT...I am not sure what its caused by but It causes me no disomfort and I dont feel or look bloated. I exercise alot so this may help my bloating I think. I do drink way more water than they reccomend too.

    Bruising normal?

I was banded May 23rd and most my bruising is gone but it was really bad for the first week or so. I had the most pain around the area of my largest incision which is where they put the fill/unfill port. They sew it to your stomach muscle so it will have a pretty bad pain and pulling feeling for a while I hear. Mine still hurts but the pain is mostly gone. Everything will be great just takes time to heal.
  10. I had my surgery done here in Vegas by Dr Atkinson on May 23rd. The BAD...My 1st 2 days were AWFUL with gas pain. I only had slight nausea and never got sick. I did have a slight caffiene withdrawal the 1st 2 days but nothing outrageous. I am having a terrible time at night getting more than an hour or so of sleep at a time and Im very restless. I still have a terrible gas pain in my left shoulder but seems to be getting less daily. No matter how hard I try i cannot burp!! It actually hurts when I try. The GOOD...I was 315 the day before surgery at the scale at my gym...I started walking at the gym 4 days after my surgery and get in 30-45 minutes a day depending how I feel and have been everyday exept 1 day since I started back. I also walk my dog with my wife for 30 minutes every other evening. Its now only 10 days later and I was 300 even today(15 lost). I make sure i get my calories and Protein intake with high quality protein mixed with Water and I drink alot of water. I started mashed potatoes and cottage cheese a couple days ago no problem. I am a very active person and my goal is to lose 50 more pounds by Halloween which is a yearly ATV trip we take to the dunes. Its 21 weeks away so thats a little over 2 pounds a week so wish me luck. I know I can do it.
  11. A rule of thumb for protein as a baseline is 50 grams a day for women and 60 Grams a day for men. If you dont get enough your body starts to take what it needs from your muscles and you will start to lose muscle mass and strength. Best place to get protein is from food but you can also drink shakes. I use powdered and mix with water and sometimes milk.
