  1. Hi!! I had my surgery last Wednesday (26th)!! It actually wasn’t bad being outpatient ! The gas pains are the only pain I have. I hope the weight comes off. I’ve heard it’s harder with revisions.
  2. I lost about 140 with my original sleeve back in 2013. I regained 60 pounds in addition to having bad reflux. The papers say I will loose about 80% of weight gain ... BUT those are just averages. I remember my original surgeon who did my sleeve told me I would probably only loose between 60-80lbs and I surpassed that (even though I gained some back. Besides the point point now )) Everyone is very different. I have weighed myself everyday since surgery. Surgery day post op (6/26) was 202. Today I weighed 184. I know some of that was the gas & saline my surgeon left AND the hydration IVs I received the day after surgery. I was too nervous to try and set a goal weight this time around because I’ve read some people don’t loose weight like they once did. I do want to be 130/40 but it will take a lot of work. I wish we had better statistics but my advice would to be to treat this as serious as your first surgery. Maybe even be more cautious!
  3. Hey Girl!! I had my revision on wednesday of last week (June 26)! It went great!!! I actually enjoyed being able to recover at home and not have nurses poking me every hour through the night. I went back in to his office the following morning so they could change dressings AND get an IV for hydration!! The gas has been painful but very manageable. My biggest piece of advice is GASX every few hours and WALK WALK WALK! You will do great! Good luck!!! Just remember: these are highly skilled surgeons who do this surgery everyday -both inpatient and out!
  4. Has anyone gone through the conversion yet? Finishing up my requirement today and will schedule the surgery! Sleeve to Bypass. I will be outpatient he says .

    Outpatient sleeve

I am doing a conversion from Sleeve to Gastric Bypass and my surgery will be outpatient as well. Starting to get nervous about it after reading all these comments but i know some people have also been outpatient and have been fine.
  6. Hi all! I am doing the conversion from sleeve to gastric bypass with Dr. Titus Duncan in Georgia! I am self pay as my insurance does not cover it. Their office said this will be an outpatient surgery. I am wondering what the pain level will be? Has anyone done this nad been outpatient?? Any tips or tricks Very nervous but this something i have to do. Has anyone used Dr Duncan??
  7. @renjenn Thank so much!! I saw them on the list when i was researching. Did you end up doing self pay? What kind of administration things did they waive for you? :)
  8. I am from atlanta and looking to get a revision ! I previously had the sleeve. Any suggestions on surgeons?? I will be self paying as my insurance does not cover 😞😭 Has anyone else had surgery in Georgia and have a surgeon they love?? Anyone had revision surgery here in Georgia? I previously had my sleeve surgery done with Dr Richards at Gwinnett but wasn’t too thrilled.
  9. I was diagnosed bipolar a little over 2 years ago. I am looking into revision but now with my diagnosis - I am wondering if it is possible?? My insurance does not cover it ( ugh) so I will be self paying. i know this is a necessary option /tool for me but worries how surgery may affect 1) if I am able to have surgery 2) how will surgery impact bipolar / depression I do take meds to help manage , can I still take them after? Any input would be wonderful! I go in for my consultation this week. Nervous!!
  10. A few important questions!! So anxious rHello all! I am currently thinking of moving forward with revision surgery. So far I have gained 57lbs and counting. Has anyone been cleared for revision surgery (or first timers ) with a low BMI? i will be self paying but not sure that it matters. For self-payers , what were the requirements to be approved - if any? how was your initial revision consultation? How long did it take from initial consult till your surgery date? Thank you you so much for your help in advance!!!! Love having support.
  11. Hi all! I am currently deciding to moving forward with gastric revision option. I had the sleeve originally. I was 287 lbs the day of my surgery My lowest weight was 130 and im back up to 185. I had a lifestyle, I chose exercise over food to cope. I was strong and I was so happy. Then it all changed!!!! I was diagnosed as bipolar and throughout the ‘learning’ curves of depression & the medication (which is known for weight gain) i lost my way health and nutrition wise. My depression consumed me and my I was taking meds notorious for weight loss. This along with my first detrimental ‘episode’ led to old bad habit. I see a psychiatrist monthly & psychologist weekly. Ive tried everything to loose weight but nothing worked. So now I want to know about some of your experiences! I am only 28 years old I want to run up the stairs without exhaustion, I’m getting married in the near future, I want kids. I want my lifestyle back I want to be a role model. I want to take my life back , a second chance, and live a happy life. I’ve searched everywhere but I haven’t found any information regarding treatment Resistant Depression & the ECT therapy. •Is it possible to do electroconvulsive therapy & surgery??? Has you done ECT AFTER surgery? / BEFORE surgery? •Has anyone had experience or success as a bipolar candidate? /// What did your surgeon think or say in the matter? •Has anyone had electroconvulsive therapy ( ECT) and Bariatric surgery??
