How long until you went out to dinner?
delfie replied to AnnieD78's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As soon as I was on "normal" food. I sometimes order off the kids menu because the portions are smaller. -
This is me, also.
-
I kind of think of this as a good thing. It has helped me disengage from food emotionally.

Yay you!

Food stuck...Weight Loss Goals
delfie replied to DJTonyG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a real struggle for me too. My bites are too big and it is really hard to chew long enough. Being less distracted and focusing on just eating is one way to help it, but a lifetime habit is hard to break, as you said. -
Day 3 stomach spasms--Yowza! Is this normal?
delfie replied to cris20495's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cris20495, each of my stages were about 7 days, so I was back on "normal food" within 21 days. But it was (and is) just the low amount of calories I am consuming. The first two weeks I was at approximately 600 calories. I have increased to about 1000 calories per day now and, as I said, the dizziness is better but it does still happen at times. Make sure you get up slowly and be careful. -

cris20495, yes! To be honest, I still do feel lightheaded when I get up at times. It has improved a lot, but the first 4 weeks or so it was all the time. -

Yes I experienced this also. I think it only lasted a week or two. -
I had a 2 pound gain this morning. I know I am still consuming very few calories and so it is not from overeating. As GradyCat says, it could be water weight (higher salt foods) or just normal fluctuations that happen with our bodies. That said, I could do better to focus on my protein, fibre, and water, as recommended by my program and so that is what I am going to do. Hoping to see the scale down again very soon. Just go back to the basics. Good luck!

High resting heart rate after VSG?
delfie replied to delfie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey, all was good. She is concerned I may be anemic, and also that I am still having a hard time taking in many calories. I am going for bloodwork, but she says if it was a leak I would definitely be having other symptoms. -
I've noticed that my resting heart rate is higher than it used to be before surgery, per my Fitbit. Whereas before it used to be 60-70ish, now it is frequently in the 80s, sometimes even higher. And it goes up quite a bit when I do even light activity. Has anyone else noticed this?

High resting heart rate after VSG?
delfie replied to delfie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh dear, no I don't. I feel fine otherwise.. I am going to see my dr tomorrow to have it checked out. -
Only 35?! You've lost almost twice what I have in about the same time - I have lost almost 18 pounds since my surgery on May 2. I was told to expect to lose about 2-3 pounds per week.

Drinking before and after eating
delfie replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find this odd also. My surgical team says to wait only 45 seconds between a bite of food and drinking something. I only heard about the half hour rule on this site. -
This is hard for me too! I don't have any great tips, but when I eat too fast it feels like it gets stuck in my throat, which is very unpleasant. And I try to remember this when eating to slow down. But I've been eating too fast my entire life and it is a difficult habit to break.

I don't know anything about the impacts of the surgery on pregnancy but I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses.
