Need a buddy that maybe sees Dr. Marquez or at least is in Austin. I've lost 30-33 lbs and I'm stuck at anyother discouraging plateau. :crying: I go again Wed. but think my band is only 10 cc's and I already have 7. Can eat just about 2 cups of food again. Not sure why. I thought I'd hit my sweet spot after the last fill but not so much anymore. Love Dr. Marquez. Would love to hear from others. thanks.

HI Edwina63, YOur doing great! Yeah the paperwork says 2 weeks but it's pretty much liquids then slowly move on to baby food consistency when you can tolerate it. I started on the baby food end of week 1, well by baby food I mean anything I could blend in the blender or bullet went in there. I really got hooked on deviled eggs in the bullet, the consistency was perfect for me. But Dr. will tell you that when you go in tomorrow. Congrats on the 20 lbs thats tremendous for only 2 weeks! -

Let us know, about this time I was on the web all day looking for others to talk to about what I was feeling and crazy thing also had the TV stuck on the food channel all day. Hey if I couldn't eat at least I could look at it. Hope all went well. congrats it only gets better. -

Hey Folks, sorry not been here in a while crazy holiday season this year. Looks like LOne Star you've been doing just great! Good for you. How far are you now from your goal? My biggest plateau was at 200 just couldn't get below it for a month or so but now hit another one at 194. Jerry the nutricianist says at some point your body just won't give up any more weight without a routine exercise program. I think that is my problem. I'm just so busy with work stuff. I don't eat wrong just not getting in the exercise I need. Have to say though the difference a year makes in photos. This year the family christmas photos prospect didn't send me into panic. I was interested to see how different I looked from last year and boy did I. I've now lost almost 50 lbs since May. The biggest excitment for me has been being able to shop for regular sized clothes even if it is a 14 but hey its in the regular ladies department now. Hang in there everyone, it is so exciting to see the lbs drop on the scale each am. Make sure you take a pic in your underwear every 25 lbs so you can really see the results also be sure to measure yourself because you will get to a plateu that can be discouraging scale wise but still be loosing inches. So excited for those of you getting close to surgery. I love Dr. Marquez! Just love her. As far as fills, Dr. Marquez automatically includes the first 3 months in with her surgery charge so you won't need to worry about insurance paying during that time. After that insurance or not it's $50 a fill. Just depends on if you have to pay or the insurance will. But keep in mind most of the adjusting is done during that first 3 months. YOu won't need many after that so not a bad deal even if you do have to pay. Good Luck all. I look forward to following your big losses and tracking your progress to goal! Happy New Year:thumbup: -

Hey Dorthy, today is the big day, so excited for you. Hope you have your bullets ready for the liquid stage. I tell ya again best thing I've ever done for myself. I lost pretty quickly after the surgery since May. I've hit a few plateau's and most recently got stuck at 200 lbs. I went on the pre surgery diet and now it's flying off again. I think if I'd realized how well that would work I would have immediately done that as soon as went on solids. I got my first fill 20 days after surgerybut by then had lost 16 lbs so it's definately motivating. Can't wait to hear how your doing after surgery. How much time after work did you take off? Good luck to you and hope you check in soon. -

I actually didn't have to go on the pre-op diet, Dr. Marquez said I wasn't really large enough to require just wasn't to eat anything fatty the couple days before the surgery. Jerry is ok as far as nutricinist, very nice but ya know someone that skinny telling me what to eat and not and just not getting it isn't really helpful. I need someone that has been here. Luckily I've not needed him too much. Once I asked to see him after being stuck at a plateau and he took the time to talk to me but really just said I was doing everything righ and it would work out. The big thing is get yourself the Protein bullet's for right after surgery during the liquid phase. I wish I'd known, I actually had some hair loss due to not getting enough protein. They are fruit punch flavored and if you mix them with the fruit punch crystal light work wonders. I would also suggest before going in you get the gas-ex melt on your tongue strips and take the maximum dose right after you get home for a few days. Really helps the gas disapate quickly. This surgical group is great, I had mine done in May at the Round Rock hospital and loved it there. So much personal attention, not really much pain at all. Just remember to take off the gauze bandages the next day, leave the steri strips on underneath them of course but take off the gauze. I left mine on too long and got a really bad itchy rash. Hope this helps. -

Hey appreciate the response but if you look at your routine you just tell me what time you eat not what you actually eat. Having lost as much as you have is a real inspiration! Congrats, hope to be in your shoes next year. thanks much -
Why does how long it takes you to eat matter?

Just had my 3rd fill last week...and now it hurts to eat
plakeway replied to MtnCat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd say yes you need a slight unfil and run don't walk to the doc to get it. I had the same thing happen to me last week. I knew right away when I couldn't even swallow a spoon full of yogurt. My doc said if I'd waited like most people would have needed a complete ufill then would have to wait to get a fill again later. Call your doc you know your body better to go slow. -
Lunch from "Heck"...Dang sliming!
plakeway replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Question what is sliming? I've gotten sick after eating something I didn't chew well or when I was too tight (for about a day before slightly unfilled) but have heard folks on here talk about sliming what the heck is that? thanks. -
Help/Encouragement needed!
plakeway replied to Ebeth0013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ya know what I didn't really either till I hit 7 cc's, that is when wow I really started to think close to sweet spot. Then a month later went in and got another cc and boy way too tight so had .5 removed. Because I had removed after only 1 day didn't need a complete unfil but now hungry again. I think we just have to keep tweaking till we get to the right spot. Hang in there though you doing great! -

Hi there I went to your blog but didn't see anything on what exactly you eat to have lost 100lbs in a year. Yea you!!! Congrats your my hero. I've lost 35 since May but on my period this week and gained. I know that's natural but still depressing. I had a fill last week too tight went back after 1 day for slight unfil, now think maybe I should have had even slighter unfil, getting hungry again. Need motivation, tell me your daily routine maybe that will help. thanks much. -

That's great! You will love her, be sure to have your surgery at Round Rock the nurses were wonderful, very attentive. A suggestion, I had mine done OP as I'm sure you will. They would not release me till I had the xray to be sure I wasn't blocked and could swallow. Problem was I couldn't have any Water or even ice till they got me in to xray. I was sooooo thirsty. I would suggest having them schedule the xray before you even go into surgery so they will be ready when you are. I had no problems all the nurses and docs there spoke very highly or her as well. Great experience would do it all over again. You'll have to let me know when your scheduled for the surgery and I'll give you pointers wished someone had given me. Good Luck, I think she is just the best. -

Hey so I need help tweaking what I eat everyday. Can you give me a typical day of what you eat and what kind of exercise? Appreciate your help. I'm in Lakeway. -
pain in shoulders and chest
plakeway replied to beth443's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try the gas-x melt in your mouth strips. I took the maximum dose each day for the first few days after surgery and yes walking really helps. Heating pads too. It will pass. -
After which fill did YOU really start losing!
plakeway replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Maybe ask him to unfil you a bit 1/2 cc so you can eat better choices. I am following another thread where she's lost 100 lbs or so by varying every 3 days the number of calories. 1 day around 850 next 2 around 1250 keeps the body guessing. I'm going to try that after my next fill and see how it works maybe worth a try. If your not getting enough Protein try the whey bullet's I mix mine with fruit punch crystal light yum! That way get in all my protein no problem. Keep in touch, good luck to you.... -
2 questions for those closer to goal
plakeway replied to wanabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So Heather O what is a typical day for you on food, can you give us an example of a low calorie day and then a higher calorie day? Might help some of us that are at plateaus and still have quite a bit to go. Congrats on loosing so much!! Great for you! -

Jamie how many calories are you consuming a day? Maybe your not getting enough? If you are are you exercising? If still not loosing what does your doc say? Wow that would be discouraging. I'm at 33 lbs lost with about 50 to go and in for another fill Wed. Think I need a bit of a tweak again. Hang in there...Keep us updated. -
Have you tried drinking before you eat anything like the eggs in the am? I can get the eggs down in the am but only a couple bites if I drink first then wait the 1 minutes. My doc said it's normal to be tighter in the am and drinking will help open it up so can eat solids like eggs. If after you try that then could just be that is the thing you can't eat well in the am like me. I can eat them later though, try later in the day and see if you have the same result.
-
You should be able to keep 3 meals of solids down without getting sick unless your not chewing enough. Question, do you try to eat at different times during the day solids or is it just you get sick in the am and assume that means you can't keep them down the rest of the day? Reason I ask is I can't eat solids in the am without drinking my Water first to loosen the band a bit. If that's not it and it's been more than 2 full days since your last fill and you can't keep solids down you should probably call and have them remove some. Sounds like your too full....
-
Yep perfectly normal to be tighter in the am than later in the day.
-
Before they do the fill does your doc extract the fluid in there first and measure it? I'm with the others on this one sounds like the burning was someone shooting the saline in your abdomen and not into your port. If they don't insert the needle, pull back the injector to measure the current levels before putting in more then not sure you'll never know if they hit the right spot or not....

I'm with you on the scrambled egg thing. I've had 4 fills and it's been since May had the surgery, the scrambled egg thing started after the 3rd fill (now at 7cc's). I think it's because in the am I am really tight, I have to east mush like yogurt and then wait drink my water then by lunch I'm good. But scrambled eggs and dry white meat chicken just get stuck. So I eat over medium eggs now and I'm fine. Guess just means we found that unique can't eat food item they warn us about....
