a really big thank you to each of you for what you've shared here ... and for your encouragement and talking about some of the things you've experienced. As far as local support groups, the one i can't attend seems to be the only one --- and is connected to my surgeon/hospital (the only one nearby offering wls) but for some reason insurance won't cover it ... so I've been trying to find and join a few more facebook groups (which means getting over my dislike of fb) as well as being here for some support i know this is my choice, although it seems a bit like my current choices are disability/death or surgery so ........ i definitely need to take this one @Azlanie i've heard variations of those comments as well, and they can be hard to hear .... and i need to keep reminding myself i'm choosing this for me and doing it for me ..... my choice not theirs! (and reminding myself again when i forget this) thanks again and for being the inspirations and encouragement that each of you are!

Everything physically hurts. Emotional stuff follows
Zemi replied to Chiptress's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i hear you on all the pain and co-morbidities ....and really hope you will soon be feeling so much better following surgery! and that a lot of these current issues will disappear so you'll have a lot less pain and want to get out and about again 🌸 i know the delay has set things back a bit but glad the new date is getting closer! -
I'm glad you are feeling some relief with this .... although would guess it's mixed emotions after the build up and now wait. Hope everything goes well now so you can have your surgery on the new date planned
-
thanks @Frustr8 that's good you were able to have the bypass and that you are not wanting to go back to before surgery even with all you've gone through health wise since you had yours 🌸 ...... my surgery is planned as the sleeve so just hoping the chronic gastritis won't mean changing this

I’ve read about gerd impacting surgery choices, does chronic gastritis?

Eating While On 2 week Liquid Diet
Zemi replied to Tonya L's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you’ve been told you can have protein and veggies for your dinner, looks like crab could be a good option if you stick to a small amount as others mentioned 💜 I was told I could have 3-4oz of a lean protein like chicken or fish. Phoning your doctor and checking with them might be best though -
Has your face aged following surgery?
Zemi posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Recently i had someone trying to insist i was about 15 years younger than i am ... and i know part of this is all the weight in my face can be deceptive age wise. Just wondering if others have noticed their faces aging as they lost weight? Curiousity only ... losing this weight is the important thing -
after one of my previous surgery’s they gave me peppermint tea after to help with gas ... and it was amazing. since they probably can’t after our sleeve surgeries i was reading that peppermint oil might help. I bought some yesterday to mix with another oil and try massaging into my shoulder. i know walking should help, i’m just trying to find anything else that will as well
-
@MLB357 thanks ... very much for your reply 🌷that’s what i’m trying to remember ... that i’m doing things so things will improve and be better, a lot more so than now! reminders just help sometimes
-
@Mikeyy hi, which one are you buying in bulk from there? @Cherylmilla have you found any you like now? i had a honeycomb one yesterday that was drinkable but over the top sweet and led to a headache after. hope you find something that works for you soon

Zemi replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Has your face aged following surgery?
Zemi replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks everyone who has responded so far ... interesting how much our necks impact how old we can look! and also the first time I’ve heard of the neck surgery .... thought I’d heard them all 😟 also interesting that for some it’s resulting in being younger looking and for others the opposite! -
Very nice on the soup 😀 I hope you get more sleep soon though
-
thanks ... i see him again in a few weeks so will ask them; i just started worrying if it would impact things though 😞
-
totally great NSV being able to do this and have such fun ... and such a great way to see how far you’ve come 😀 congrats!!! hope there are lots more fun days like this ahead for you
-
I'm having the sleeve done, but started noticing a bit more heart burn and reflux recently so was getting worried when reading about the preference for bypass ... so firstly @GradyCat that's so encouraging, and wonderful, for you to hear the sleeve has actually improved yours. @MissLadyK what do they say when you ask them why the sleeve is better given the issues you mentioned and getting another surgeons opinion as others have suggested might be a good idea given your concerns

Natural peanut butter & bananas- puréed???
Zemi replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I wasn't sure on the nut consistency, so great to hear it would be possible in both liquid and pureed stages ... honestly i couldn't imagine that combination at first but as a shake I'm starting to think it sounds a good one to remember -- @GingerSlim are you going to try it as the shake or wait till puree stage? -
Excellent news that the cardiologist didn't see anything! that must be such a relief for you? .... hopefully you can confirm the 9th tomorrow and everything goes smoothly with that appointment 🌻 I'm getting mine done on the 17th (hopefully) ... date's changed twice already but that's the current plan. Pre-op diet is the protein shakes twice a day, then 100g of lean meat plus lots of starch fee vegetables for dinner .... very glad I'm not on full liquid as many are although I guess it will happen soon enough anyway 😀 Do you know what's involved for your pre-op diet yet?

i’ve had so many drs tell me i need the surgery in the past and it was me saying no .... so when i needed a referral i just said to my GP that i need a referral for weight loss surgery and she wrote one and didn’t say anything else about it. I switched drs soon after to one who says a bit more that’s helpful hope asking goes well for you
-
I’ve seen others mention starting earlier ... my dietician advised me not to do anything too intense because she wanted me as motivated as possible for the time she set (two weeks pre-op) have you asked your nutritionist or surgeon? great idea on wanting to kick start things .... i’m focusing on water, vitamins and exercise currently to get in better habits there. all the best to you
-
That’s great it went so well, hope you have your date soon

Pre-op and obsessed?
Zemi replied to NagathaChristie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, a few months out still and i’m doing the research and watching things and doing what i can to be as ready as possible. it’s a major life change and i want to have the best chance of success possible! also a massive positive investment in myself which is different, so doing all i can to make this investment count and pay off 😀 -
Glad you are ok now, but rough start to your post surgery recovery. I’m a few months from having mine done still
