I'm so scared!
Deedee12 replied to CashmereAndBones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better!! Surgery is a serious trauma on the body! The entire process of it is like an assault/abuse (albeit necessary) to our system. You should feel better soon and celebrate every moment you feel an improvement incrementally and over time, normalcy will come. One day at a time or if possible, 1 8hr block at a time to feel something. Talk with both bariatric and surgical team to make sure you didn't miss anything or there's nothing you should worry about and if they say nothing, then believe it and continue your healing process. Have a great evening. 🤞🤞🤞 Tomorrow is another day! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm so scared!
Deedee12 replied to CashmereAndBones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CashmereandBones, I'll let the resident experts answer your questions as I am pre surgery, that being said, I want you to know that having An Anxiety Disorder magnifies anything that you would worry normally about by 100 fold! Know that your experience is being informed by your Anxiety and so it would seem like people didn't have post surgery experience like you are having as if you are an outlier and there's something significantly wrong. This is not true, just Anxiety Speaking. You won't regret this surgery, these post surgical difficulties ALWAYS passes and nothing Catastrophic would happen as it's in Anxiety's nature to Catastrophize things. Just remember to do your mindfulness and deep breathing exercises, remind yourself why you did this surgery, all the good things in your future, talk to your psychiatrist/therapist about what they can do to help you adjust to these struggles. Talk with your surgical team so you don't have time stewing about the unknown or having anticipatory anxieties of the unknown. Heightened anxiety about things real or imagined interrupts your healing process. Take it back to the basics. Your fluids, pain meds and do the best you can do and let your team do the rest. You are not an outlier, you didn't make a mistake, death (especially untimely) is never better for things that are temporary. I bet you will feel differently a week from today hence don't take your temporary situation as permanent. Take care and you have a host of support here cheering you and your journey on as we know definitely you will be an inspiration for someone else soon.[emoji253][emoji253][emoji253][emoji253][emoji253][emoji7][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Feeling sad and emotional - eating didn't even help.
Deedee12 replied to AZhiker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awwwwwww AZHiker!! So sad to hear that! I hope she pulls through. Nothing as sad as a "family member" being sick! Prayers being sent your way!!🤲🤲[emoji120] Look through pictures of happy times with her and celebrate all the moments she's had/has with you through thick or thin and take comfort in those moments. So happy to hear emotional eating is not as effective post wls!! That is honestly a NSV in my opinion! Celebrate that as well[emoji106][emoji106] Take care and thoughts and most importantly prayers are with you and Tess[emoji7] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hormone increase and too much energy? Anybody? (Women)
Deedee12 replied to 70worm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I'm truly sorry you are going through this, sounds very emotionally exhausting but I have to agree with Briswife, this is text book mania/hypomania of Bipolar Disorder. Not only is she impulsive but also illogical and irrational. She can't see the obvious like you and other family members do and while her actions are deeply hurtful, I doubt she is doing it on purpose as her insight is impaired. Any human being loves being manic/hypomanic and that's why some people with bipolar disorder are not very medication compliant as it takes their "high" away. After a good Medical checkup/workup, she needs to see a psychiatrist and it may be easier for her to hear that from her PCP or any medical professional than you. I would encourage you to go with her to her doctor's appointments so they get a full picture. This is going to test ALL your marital resolve but hang in and hang tough as this is a medical condition too like anything else but the stigma of psychiatric disorders is severe especially when all you see are "behaviors". It's not uncommon for mental illness to be triggered by anything that stresses the mind, body and soul. Take care and Wishing you success in all areas. Fruit juice-really the enemy?
Deedee12 replied to Butterfly#7's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am presurgery and can honestly attest to the fact that majority of my extra caloric intake is from fruit juice! I have never finished a can of soda in my entire life, I don't drink alcoholic beverages regularly and other than liking baked products, my severe vice is fruit juice as I confess that water doesn't go down well in my throat especially after I moved to a state that the water is kinda hard no matter if I use water softeners and purifiers. I detest artificial sweeteners as well. So I love my juices. That said, since starting this process, I've cut out juices (probably the most difficult thing I ever gave up!). I've not made any other severe diet changes (though definitely doing the head work) and I find myself losing a few pounds here and there. If you are able to keep it at one juice a day, more power to you as that seems manageable (juice was my water previously and I imagine if I even give an inch, I fear I may backslide completely). My nutritionist recommended HINT water as well as the infusing fruit water bottle thingy and it helped me transition from drinking juice to liking the taste of water and now I drink more water than I previously did, even uninfused [emoji1] Best of luck in your journey[emoji106] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

What SusieQ said! You can cycle with regular gym shoes until you are sure it's something you are going to be doing frequently. Mousecat was the first to alert me that there are butt pads![emoji28][emoji28] After a few weeks of regular spinning, everything that hurts improves. Any August 2019 people out there?
Deedee12 replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Secretly concluding food funerals [emoji85][emoji85][emoji85] I hear you. But honestly we will be fine! Constantly reminding ourselves that we have eaten all of these foods before and look where it landed us. After a while on a healthy diet, we lose that zest for the unhealthy ones (so I hear!). Mentally prepare for the first week being arduous and once that scale states to speak to us, we'll get over the angst of comfort food.....and if not, getting slender will be worth it regardless! We'll rock this!![emoji112][emoji112][emoji112][emoji112][emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Cheeseburgh, honestly try it for a week at the very least!! Go with a friend, go at your own pace, try all the instructors at your gym to find one that inspires you as well as the music that flows through you and I promise you, you will enjoy it and become a spin fiend like people "we" gave that look to when they are rushing into the studio while you gently walk past to the treadmill or yin yoga (speaking for old pre spin self[emoji28]). You should go at your own pace, don't compare, just enjoy music and the camaraderie of conquering hills with others. Keep me posted and don't be terrified [emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
