My Plastic Surgery Thread
Deedee12 replied to sillykitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congratulations on your journey!!!! I'll be following! I honestly won't pay consultation fees for a very saturated field where you can see their body of work as well as their profile in terms of board certification, how long they've been practicing, their reviews and mortality/severe complication rate. I see the reason they want a fee but it's only for their benefit because you may more likely than not go with someone you paid a fee for because you feel beholden especially if they say they'll add it to your final cost. That seems self serving on their part. Especially when what you are trying do is shop around. No consultation fee shows that the physician is comfortable and sure of their work and when they sell it to you, you pick them because they are good and you felt comfortable with them to go forward and that fosters a trusting relationship in my opinion. Most plastic surgeons I know here in AZ do not require a consultation fee. You see their work and either love them or leave them. That sample work looks fantastic [emoji108][emoji108][emoji108][emoji108] Good luck!!🧡[emoji169]🧡[emoji169]🧡 Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Well done Kristieshannon! I was sleeved on 8/16 so 3 days post op. I've had difficulty drinking water but get to about 32 oz of water yesterday and trying higher today. The bloating, tightness of the abdominal area is unreal occasionally. I couldn't stomach the store bought broth but my amazing and awesome kids nanny made me homemade veggies and chicken broth and it was AMAZING!! Best thing I've tasted since I got home. I need to get some Gas X as the gas pressure is still present. I've also been walking a lot and it makes pain tolerable. I have not needed any painkillers since discharge. My program requires clear liquids until post OP class where they'll advance us and even give us a prepared meal. I'm looking forward to any form of caloric intake tomorrow.[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I had multiple food funerals before my surgery 3 days ago. I was on 2 7 days vacations right before my surgery. 1 was a cruise and you can imagine how that went. The other was in an all inclusive resort. Needless to say, I was in food heaven. I should regret it (and maybe I felt guilty sometimes) but it has not affected me as bad as I thought it would! Good luck, relax and as long as you listen to successful people and your program, you should be fine.[emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji106] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

should i intervene?
Deedee12 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello Mousecat! There is sincerely no ethical dilemma in reporting something and not asking for information back. She's like a good samaritan helping someone in the path of destruction have one more intervention. Because Mousecat and not the family know the protocol of the bariatric clinic, they may feel powerless doing anything. But Mousecat knows exactly who to talk to and what can be said that will effect a change. This guy appears to be operating under guilt and shame and the best people that can normalize this to him in a way that may make a difference will be the bariatric team. They know, understand, diagnose, treat all the upheavals that is WLS. So as long as the clinic doesn't give you any information, they (and you) are not breaking any ethical or legal laws. Another option is to tell his sister exactly who she needs to speak with to ask for help for this sick guy. Just my 2 cents.....Good luck and even if you don't do anything, the fact that you worried enough to post is commendable [emoji112][emoji112][emoji112]🧡🧡🧡🧡 Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Day 16, 17 and 18. Surgery and recovery days, I treated myself with this surgery in my honest opinion. I didn't get a massage because it was the last thing I was thinking about after surgery but I do get a massage at anyone of our beautiful resorts with my BFF at least 2x a month. I have changed my swedish massage this coming Saturday for a facial so that should count as self care/treat yourself. Exercise; I'm only walking around the house and once around the neighborhood yesterday. My kids rode their bikes alongside. The advice of walking has been heaven sent as it helped enormously!! Omg!! That gas pain!!! My surgeon who is also a friend told me she had to run out of my hospital room because I was doubled over in pain and she couldn't stand to watch!![emoji26][emoji22] I've had 3 c sections, lap band placement and removals but this brought me to my knees.........until the walking began. I would walk at least 40 laps around the unit every 2 hrs and it changed the game. So yes, walking is all I can do. I'll see how today 19th shapes out and come back to report. I already have a large amount of people I want to compliment so that should be easy peasy[emoji169]🧡[emoji169][emoji169]🧡🧡 Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I agree!! I had horrible cramps when I drank my fluids sitting down. It got significantly better when I started walking and drinking. That's what eventually got me 48 oz of water and discharged. That cramping sucks!!! I know exactly how you feel. Keep walking and see if it makes a difference otherwise I'd go to the clinic tomorrow if I were you. Hope you feel better soon [emoji169]🧡[emoji173] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS
Deedee12 replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello Frustr8, I'd been looking out for your update! Thanks for sharing, I'm sincerely sorry you didn't get the answers to your concerns, that truly sucks!! I few things to consider: Are you having a few better days compared to when this issue started? If that surgical team admits that they made you a GI cripple, would that give you some relief or closure to move forward and not focus on their help any longer as it seems their behavior is communicating that! What does your therapist/psychiatrist (if you have one) suggest for you to do. You have come a freaking long ways! You are inspiring others and sounds like there's a pep to your steps with this enormous weight you have lost. Stay positive as there's truly a school of thought that believes that gut/emotion connections, afterall that's the basics of holistic medicine. So if you are able to focus more on the positives of how this surgery has changed your life, your gut may get the memo and start feeling much better. Stay well dear friend [emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Depends on what you need AnnieD, 4mg typically works for me and some people need 8mg. So if 4 mg not cutting it, I'll do 8 mg and speak with your doctor. I hope your nausea improves![emoji169][emoji169][emoji169] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
