Hi everyone! I am back again. It's been quite some time since I've posted. I was getting cold feet and wasn't really feeling comfortable with Dr. D. I was only seeing him because my mom had to see him because of her insurance. Now she isn't going to do the surg, so I'm on my own. Everything seemed so rushed at Dr. D's. I would have an appointment scheduled and they would call the day before to say they were misisng something. That happened THREE times. Two of my docs wanted me to see O'Malley. So I have started over with Dr. O'Malley. I had my first nut appt. today. Wow was this different than my nut appt with Dr. D's office. This was 2 hours of really learning what we needed to learn. We learned what we are going to need to eat, portions and a whole huge spectrum of other info with regards to pre and post surg eating. I have to schedule my psych consult. I go back to the nut for my individual visit in a little less than 3 weeks. I will have another appointment with her a month later. I feel a LOT better as Dr. O'Malley is the best there is. So, starting over, but I'm totally okay with it. I am hoping surgery in spring lol.

Thank you everyone :wink2: I appreciate the suggestions and links. I think I will try the Atkins induction phase. I just feel like a failure and I haven't even been banded yet *sigh* -

In order for my doc to even submit to insurance for approval, I need to lose 20 lbs. I was not losing in the beginning and then I started seeing the scale move and now it's going back up again. I am ready to cry. I meet with him next week and he's probably gonna laugh at me and kick me out -
Hey...while you're there ask them how far out they are booking their surgeries right now :lol Be sure to report back

I am still awaiting my surgery date, but I had a question. My DH and I have a trip to Florida planned in the Fall. I am hoping to get a surgery date asap, but if they offer me something in the 6 weeks prior to the vacation, do you recommend declining it and waiting until after the vacation? We are going to be at Disney for a day or two and I don't want to be in too much pain walking around and going on rides. How long did it take you to feel "okay" enough that you would have been comfortable going on a vacation with lots of activity? Thanks

I am just curious as I am researching which protein drinks are gluten free and other ideas for post op

this has been my experience as well! I think that for a while, Highland was the only center in this area so everyone goes there. Dr. Dibenedetto came from Buffalo recently so he'll be more widely known soon I'm sure :lol

Hi there! I am going through the pre-banding process right now I am so nervous/excited. Are you trying to decide whether to get banded or are you in the process that I am?

My name is Melissa and I am from Rochester, NY. I am married to the greatest man in the world and have three children who are the center of my life I have struggled with weight all my life but it has gotten worse over the years. I am now the heaviest I have ever been at 297 lbs. I am 5'8" tall and have always "carried it well", but not anymore. I am excited to get this going, but scared/nervous at the same time. I have failed all my life at dieting and keeping the weight off...will it really be different with the band??? I guess time will tell, but I sure hope to find support here throughout this journey :smile2:

Hi everyone! I am also from Rochester and will be banded with Dr. D. My mom is doing the same thing and with her insurance, she needs to see Dr. D rather than O'Malley or the other docs at Highland. It's nice to see others here from Roch

New here...and so frustrated with trying to lose weight
Melissa3 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. I am currently jumping through the insurance hoops of psych consult, sleep study, nutritionist, and having to lose 20 lbs. (Insurance wants 15, but my doc wants 20). I am stuck. I haven't lost a single pound...not gaining which is good, but I have appointments this week and then it's back to the surgeon next week. I was hoping to have made SOME progress. I have a really really hard time losing weight, and right now, I am feeling like an idiot. I am going to get this lap-band and not lose anything:frown: then I will feel like a complete and total failure *sigh* Any tips on losing this weight quickly???
