I still feel quite weak and tired when I do much. I think this is largely because I'm still on liquids only. My surgeon advised that exercise should be limited to walking for six weeks rather than anything more high impact. VSG 27th April 2019

Why do I feel hungry still?
MinnieMoo replied to maram87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am Day 8 post surgery, on liquids only, and am having the exact same problem. I feel quite weak and hungry all.the.time. I'm also unsure what 'full' should feel like now. I have not, at any time since surgery and being on liquids only, felt full in the way I would have previously felt after e.g. eating a bowl of pasta or a steak! I'm a bit frightened that my surgery isn't a success. VSG 27th April 2019 -
Excessively long clear liquid phase
MinnieMoo replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got it. We're allowed some full liquids immediately but cottage cheese is included as puree stage in our plan (which starts two weeks post surgery). I don't know what sugar free pudding is, so I don't know if that's liquid or puree! Basically what we're allowed to eat immediately is anything that's liquid at room temperature. How are you feeling by the way? VSG 27th April 2019 -
I also had a lot of pain, waking during the night as soon as my pain meds wore off. But it improved very quickly. I'm on Day 8 today and I haven't needed painkillers all day. By comparison, on Day 3 I was in so much pain that I contacted my surgeon to ask for increased medication. Hang in there and know it gets better. VSG 27th April 2019

Excessively long clear liquid phase

I don't know what's categorised as a clear liquid and a full liquid because they don't use that terminology here (UK). In the UK you're allowed to have all smooth liquids straightaway. As you kmow, I was sleeved two days before you, and I have already eaten milk, chicken soup and yoghurt. Does this help at all? VSG 27th April 2019 -

I've been following lots of people on Instagram and the rate of weight loss/when people lose weight seems to vary massively. You've mentioned not having a dietician appointment but has your hospital given you at least some dietary advice? VSG 27th April 2019 Starting weight 120kg

Yes I had keyhole too. They did mention that I'd bruised particularly badly. I'm only 3 days post surgery so hopefully will start to feel better in the next few days. Yes you're right that it's a crazy journey! I first looked into the surgery in 2017 and decided to proceed, then pulled out due to fear, then decided to go ahead when it got to the end of 2018 and I was not doing any better with 'natural' weight loss. I'm mostly motivated by REALLY wanting a baby, which is just not going to happen with a BMI over 40. I've also seen both my Dad and Grandma struggle with multiple weight-related health issues from their 50s onwards - Type II diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure - and I just dreaded that being my life too. Why did you decide to go for it? X VSG 27th April 2019 Starting weight 120kg

I feel OK really, not great but not awful. I feel very weak and I imagine that's just because I'm getting maybe 200 calories a day. I don't feel my pain is well under control - I'm really sore. I have my first check up this afternoon and am going to discuss with the Nurse. VSG 27th April 2019 Starting weight 120kg

Hi are you UK based? Me too and I had VSG on Saturday. I am a bit concerned by how differently it's done in the US - I've had WAY less information about precise fluid quantity/number of steps etc. How are you doing? X VSG 27th April 2019 Starting weight 120kg

Hello [emoji1309] Any UK VSG Patients?
MinnieMoo posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I'm new here. Just had VSG on Saturday 27th April. I'd love to find some other UK patients and share experiences. They seem to do lots of things differently in the US e.g. longer hospital stay, different diet. X Sent from my SM-G965F using BariatricPal mobile app
