Ouch, but wow, you look GREAT! I can hardly wait to see pics after you have healed. Rest up my dear.

I would feel confident. I sew, if you made me sew a similar dress 13 times, I'd say I have it down pat.:biggrin1:

Lol, I guess I was wondering what your immediate impressions are of the band post op? Are you amazed? Are you disappointed? Are you tickled pink? Are you mourning food? TIA.... I am still pre op still in awe of all of you......

gone is gone, good for you..... -
Pre op here, still in awe how some of you can eat so little and not complain about feeling weak. I just read a post about having a fill and going back to liquids for a few days. Are you feeling lethargic when you do that? Are you able to exercise? Does the body go into starvation mode and sloooooooowwwwwww down? I just can't imagine! I am in awe!

Yep, excellent article. Now, I am going to go gulp some Water.

Awsome, I look forward to making a similar post one day.........

So Paula, hey great name btw, what I'd like to know from you is.....are you happy with the band? I know it can't be compared to Phen Fen, but by the looks of your stats, you look like you have had success. Do you fight with your brain on a daily basis? or does your smaller stomach send messages of satiety to your brain? Scott, CAMOBODIA?:faint:

Well, as a pre op, I thank you for posting this. I hope you find an answer and get help soon. hugs

Dody, what a nightmare, I am so sorry your body reacted that way. But for me, Phen Fen WAS THE ANSWER! Now you got me started. I believe that we all have weight problems for different reasons. Personally, I have been addicted or obsessed with food since I was a child. Always fat. Phen Fen taught me that my food obsessions were brain related and that all completely stopped while I was on the drug. I was a late starter, and was only on it for 3 months before it went off the market. It altered my brain and made me think like a NORMAL person. I would buy it on the black market it I could, but know that it caused terrible problems in some people like Dody. This is also one of the reasons that I am wavering on the decision to get banded. This is not a physical problem for me, it is a brain chemical problem for me. My obese female, middle aged doctor agrees and she did put me on a combination of antidepressants which enhance the seratonin levels in the brain, but to no avail. After this year experiment she then agreed to refer me to the surgeon who does lap bands in western British Columbia. I PRAY for the return of a similar drug.

My cousin had a hip replacement in her mid thirties. A lap band is made from the same material, (silicone) as any implanted device, hip, knee and pace maker. I am sure if you asked my cousin if she wanted to go ahead with her hip replacement even at some risk that it would need replacement. I am absolutely sure of what her answer would be. Ditto a heart patient. Just thinking out loud here

True friends stick around. I have had people make remarks like that to me and like Photonut said in her very wise post, they become just occasional friends. Life is too short to put up with that kind of treatment. A true friend would never make you feel that way. hugs and continued weight loss you hotty you.

That's great.

Wow, I am really sorry they reacted that way. What does Dr Phil say, 'The best revenge is to live well'

My turning point was turning 42 and hitting the highest weight I have EVER been. Seems the harder I try, the fatter I get, and I am just plain old TIRED. Tired of hating being seen in a bathingsuit Tired of feeling fat and depressed. Tired of waiting to lose weight before I buy those clothes. Tired of feeling like a failure. T I R E D Note, I am still pre op. Still tired.

That is AWSOME! I am sure you love the new healthier you.

Hey, Jude.... I am normally the farting Princess. It all came to a complete STOP, when I lowcarbed. it was the first thing to go away when I was on low carb and the frist thing to come back when I am off low carb.

.....and I am not surprised, but it is good to see this information our there. ...if you are obese at 40, (I am 42) you can reduce your life by 7 years. Good reason to work hard on getting weight down don't you think? Tonight I am going to a doctor's speech on childhood obesity and how important good natural whole foods are for our children. I have 3 kids, all of whom are thin, but I see one is a carb addict, just like me, and one of them eats portions that if they continue - will produce an overweight teen. I am trying everything in my power to keep my kids eating healthfully and getting lots of exercise. But sometimes, it is hard to keep 'junk' food out of the house. I'm looking forward to this.
-
Enterprising young woman indeed. I admit, the schools are really getting the gears around here. There is a whole movement to get junk food out of the cafeterias. Doesn't seem to be a very popular ideas. But so far for my kids, so good. We live in Canada, and unless a school is in an impoverished area, there is no hot lunch program, we brown bag it. There are no junk vending machines. Thank goodness. BUT my eldest is coming up to high school where there is a cafeteria, and vending machines. I just hope to educate her so she will make wiser choices. Junk is OK every once in a while, but I'd hate to see my kids eating it daily.

So sorry. What a thing to happen....

I am the mother of 3, two girls. I would be so sad if any one of them ended up in a relationship like this. I will try to teach my kids to 'LOVE THEMSELVES ENOUGH" Love yourself enough to find someone to treat you as you deserve to be treated. Hey, I am no prude, but it really is a good arguement for celibacy. Then you find quickly what the relationship is based on.

So far, in Canada, we need to get a referral from our GP, have some upper GI, Barium and sleep apnea tests. From there we get a consult with the surgeon where he books a tentative date, mine is July 14. This is the ONLY surgeon in British Columbia that has been trained in this surgery so far. Otherwise I'd have to travel to Ontario. My surgeon, Dr. Leung is vascular and something else surgeon. He is booked. I don't believe he has any quotas. But he is booking upwards of 6 months in advance. Cost about 15, grand. At least this gives me some time to REALLY thing this through and be prepared.
