Well and I see you are preband, so cheers my broth to you. I don't know how I would have faired preband. At least post band my stomach must be in such shock that it can't decide whether or not it wants food. I am greatful to be weaned off sugar and carbs though. That is the real benefit to fasting, no cravings. :clap2:

Hey, what famous Canadian bandster are you talking about? I'd appreciate a pm.... thanks in advance. I am on a yahoo bandster group of Dr. Leung's patients in BC, i agree what a pia to use....I check in there on people I know and then come here. Paula

Oh man, do I feel for you sitting at the lunch room table. I am in pain feeding my family, dh and 3 young kids. I actually enjoy cooking for them, but I sure have to remind myself not to shove food in while preparing. ha! Keep it up girl. It hurts but it has so been worth it so far. Good loss and happy fasting.

Good for you Gilly! You are right on my heels. Good for you on the weight loss....hugs

Marking the 1/2 way mark on the clear liquid diet post op. Losing weight like crazy. Some days I feel Ok with the clear liquids and some days, I find it very difficult. but for today, I am on plan and happy....

sigh...........day 15 of my 30-35 day clear liquid fast. I am not drinking enough Water. It is hot in my part of the world and I need to focus on drinking 3X the water. I am drinking close to a liter, but should be taking in almost 3 liters. So that is my focus today. I made some beautiful chicken broth last night, added onion and celery for flavour. Smells so good, my 3 kittens follow me around begging. For the first time I also made some sf Jello. I will try some of that later. that is a big thrill for me, considering I have lived on clear broth and water, one serving of juice per day....that is all. So I guess I can tick off my 1/2 way mark. I don't think I will even try for 35 days as I am almost 6 ft tall and I am losing weight stupid fast. But for now, I am OK with this. Difficulty level today about a 3. Anyone else want to chime in here, I'd love to hear how it is going for you. Cheers

Yep, my surgeon, is one of the strictest. I am required to do 30-35 days of clear liquids. No juice, no dairy, strictly Water, broth, more water, some more broth and even some broth. Heck, most days I'd die for a Carnation instant breakfast. I do complain, see my liquid fast support thread, but I am eternally greatful for this opportunity, maybe the ONLY opportunity to lose this quickly. I have to focus on it as being a very short time in my hopefully very long and healthy life. For example, I was very strict as to what I took into my body for the 9 months X 3 children that I carried. It was worth the effort to see 3 beautiful healthy children born of my body. And just look at my stats. Whohoo! By no means do I find this easy. I am ticking off the days to mushies on my daily calendar. You might even catch me crying in my thread. I want to encourage you to do what your surgeon suggests. You will survive and time will go by anyway. You will feel more powerful and successful if you follow your plan. Hugs and keep checking in. Excellent posts above....hugs to all....... PS, my very small in stature Chinese doctor says in his very strong accent, about my upcoming post fast diet.... '1/2 teacup, that is all 1/2 teacup of food.'

Surprisingly no. But my dear banded for 2 years now friend, told me that she knew her (overeating prior to banding) was her stress relief. She knew this as she was getting terrible neck and head pain. So she concluded that is was referred stress that was previously released by overeating. It did eventually go away. I hope you can find some relief... hugs

Hilarious! I will remember that one. BTW, too much information ahead ............it's good for gas too. -
Awwwww, good for you Gilbert. You sound so positive. I have to warn you, for me days 8 - 11 were hard ones, then it became easier again. Day 14 for me now and it seems easier again. Keep it up girl and let us know how it is going.

Great thread. I can't help but imagine the money we will save in a lifetime of eating small meals and ordering appetizers. 'Oh no thanks, I just couldn't possibly.' hahhahaha

Two full weeks now and the scale reads I am down 20 pounds. 20 pounds of what I don't know, and 20 pounds of what I don't care. hahaha As my siggy says, it is gone. I had surgery again yesterday. Went under general. I felt like a Mac Truck hit me but feel remarkably well today. I am never sick from generals, just feel like I slept for 7 years, which us moms of young children need every once in a while. A good rest. So my feet and hands show a Water retention, just like after my lap band surgery, but that too will go away. As for the fasting, never had even one problem yesterday as I was in bed, just thirsty. The tough times are coming up in the next few weeks. I have clear liquid fasted for 14 days now. Hm, that means I am almost 1/2 way there. Honest, it IS hard, but when the pounds just drop off like nothing, I am encouraged to go the full 30 - 35 days. WHO HOO! Any other liquid fasters in our midst? I'd love to hear from you.

2 weeks out to the day now. Had a gynecological surgery yesterday, so general anesthesia all over again. Everything went well, I feel fine, but I am swollen again. BUT the good news is, in 2 weeks I have lost 20 pounds of water or whatever I don't care, it is just gone. THAT makes up for everything.

Great thread, thanks for all the info.

WHO HOO GILBERT!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you girl. I am on day 12 of my clear liquid fast now. I am being very strick as The Wiz is expecting us. Yes, he seems to be one of the strictest on this board that I can see for sure. Some days, I too just don't know HOW we are going to make 30 days.........but we can take each day as it comes. I am cooking and serving my dh and children. I don't mind that really, but damn, every once in awhile I really feel hunger and WANT. But every day I do this is a victory for me. And yes the weight loss IS awsome, so lets keep focusing on that. hugs and hope to meet you again. I go for my first fill Aug 21 how about you?

THANK YOU MELODY! I am just about over another day. I like bedtime, because then I don't have to deal with it anymore. AND I get to weigh myself in the morning. Hey, LOVE YOUR STATS GIRL. Success stories like your are what keep me going.....hugs and thanks

I don't know HOW you are doing it, but if someone told me I had to fast BEFORE the surgery, I just don't know....so I am in great admiration to all of you pre band fasters....who wee! Cheers with my broth to you.

Day 12 her Vince. I too have lost close to 20 pounds but won't claim it until Friday which will be 2 weeks to the day. Just like you. I am having very hard times during the day, but when I get through them, I feel so proud of myself. I keep reminding myself of the Red Massai tribe in Africa who live solely on cow's blood and cheese made from the blood and urine. ewwwwwww these are very strong men who walk all day long. Also, of the stoopid show Survivor. They all survive and so will I. Anyway, just comparing notes. I also feel very proud of my accomplishment after only 12 days and will ride this wave as long as I possibly can. I see my surgeon on August 21 for my first fill and he wants me to eat something after to see how it goes down. So I guess that will break my liquid fast before my 35 days are up. Good luck with your appointment Vince. Onto day 12. -
Just journaling here, just ignore me. Day 11. Had some very difficult moments day before yesterday and yesterday to some extent. BUT, every day I manage to stay on plan, I feel like I have made an accomplishment. So onward I go. The weightloss is amazing and that is what keeps me going, I love seeing the scale move. Feeling almost back to normal. Going for walks daily. Determined to make this work.

Good luck with your decision. I for another one, think you will be WAY more healthy and emotionally happy with a lap band. There are many posts on this board, including mine, that say how fearful we are of dying on the table, even a few of us who thought of jumping off the table in the surgical room and running away. ha I am so glad I didn't. I too am happy for my 3 children, age 6, 8 and 11, that they will soon have a healthier mother who will most likely live longer and healthier 100 pounds thinner....(haven't lost that yet, but I plan on it.) hugs and keep us up on your decision.

forgot to ask my surgeon. I have an inviting pool in my backyard and a hot tub. What recommendations did you get from your doc? I will phone my surgeon in the morning. I figure when the incisions are closed???? Which they are not, still some scabbing.

My surgeon said not to worry about calories and Protein in the fasting stage following surgery. He says our body is using all our fat stores and not to worry. I am with Jack. I am enjoying my nice homemade chicken stock.
