Arrghhh.. Should I fill the day before Thanksgiving?
Paulax replied to robinem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OOoooooooooo tough one. First I was going to say HELL YA! But now I see that you are required to have 3 days of liquids. So I guess that makes it a very personal call. Do you want to miss this meal? Does it make any difference to you? CAN you make an appointment for Monday? If so then do that. Good luck with your decision and Happy Thanksgiving! -
PLEASE let my size 11 feet shrink as I do......PULEASE!

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I am in this mode right now.....but I will drink water til I ooze and one of these days some weight will drop off.

Just revisiting my post. Now it is, Oct 30, I am now down 42-43 pounds somewhere in there. NOPE STILL DON'T BELIEVE IT. I think it will register until I get into uncharted numbers like, under 210. I haven't been that weight for YEARS! But for now, hmpf, still don't believe it. :huytsao

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is so stinkin' exciting. Congratulations on being at GOAL!!!!!!!!! Now go post pics in the at goal thread..... http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21986 -
I am at 2.2 ccs in a 4cc band. This is my second fill and after a week, it feels really good. I can only eat 1/2 cup, which is what my doc recommends at one meal time. I never eat bread, it is not band friendly. I know some can but not me, so I don't even try. Try to focus on your Proteins first and soft veggies. I hope this fill works out for you. let us know ...and it is true that sometimes a fill takes a couple of weeks to settle and work properly.

Just had to say a good fill sure feels great....I can only eat 1/2 cup of food and I am full. Love Love LOVE A GOOD FILL! -
Excited and raring to go...Just came back from my second fill. I have a total of 2.2 and looking forward to seeing the scale moving again. Feel tight, stuck to mushies today. Ate VERY little, may feel too tight, but tomorrow will be the true test. May just stick to mushies for another day as I am actually afraid to try it out. My weight loss was very fast at first due to the 25-30 days of required liquid fast our doctor prescribed. I made 24 and lost most of the weight by that point. I think I have lost 10 since that fill, which was 9 weeks ago. I actually started to eat stupid things, chocolate, and my weight was starting to creep up. So hopefully this fill will get me back on track and I can start to see some losses again.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was thinking today that it takes a LOT to learn what good restriction is. I have to drive 4 hours to get to my fill doc and I see him for 5-10 minutes in his office, no flouroscopy, and it is hard for me to gage what a good fill feels like drinking Water, so if you can get to your fill doc easily, just keep going for adjustments. Unless of course he charges for every visit. I KNOW I feel better restriction today, ate almost next to nothing. Mushy day, tomorrow, I will test this fill. I am KIND of hoping this will take me into the new year. We will see. So for now, 2.2 here.....good luck to all, lets make good food choices and exercise our asses off.:nervous -

I have to say that I still have many overeating issues. I know the band works on the physical aspect of becoming fuller faster and keeping the portion size small............but my head is still fat and I am still craving sweets and wanting to overeat. I am a July 21st bandster. Have lost 35-38 pounds to date and feel great, but my band is loosening, my weight fluctuating, and I need a fill. My bad snacking and overeating habits are sneaking back. Any advice would be appreciated, otherwise I am just a-complaining here. I am also hoping that my fill Oct 23 might help a bit.... Also thinking of hypotherapy??? Anyone?

Grrrrr, I am so mad reading this, I haven't even read the other responses. I would consider this a last straw. I would insist on a meeting with the principal, the boys AND his parents. I would tell your son to hold his head high and not show fear. Bullys usually pick on people who they don't consider a threat. Good luck and I'd love to hear this resolved. In grade 5, my daughter was being bullied by a couple of classmates (girls). It never became physical. I told my dd to hold her head high, and not to put up with any guff, and to tell an adult if she was being threatened. Then I made my presence known at the school and I was sickeningly sweet to those two girls, saying, 'good morning' and the like. They quickly left her alone. I am proud to say that same daughter now in grade 7, stood up in front of a boy who was bullying another child on the bus and told him to 'lay off'. She says now that he is afraid of her. I hope your kids feel safe at school. Nothing worst than being made to feel insecure. Paula, a mom and former grade 7 school teacher, and current bandster....

I remember questioning my decision and it is a valid and important question. I also would weigh it against the death rate from obesity related diseases. I felt that for me, this was the 'healthier' of the two options... hugs and good luck with your decision...

I just had to pipe in here to say there is an excellent site. www.breasthealthonline.org for information and you will find literally hundreds of women who had augmentation, reduction and tummy tucks. check it out.

and cancer Cancer of the kidney, endometrium, breast, colon and rectum, esophagus, prostate and gall bladder Mulititude of information out there now that obesity is linked directly to various cancers. In fact, a headliner in our paper this past week was a study done and an obese and inactive person uses up to twice the medical expenses as a thin and active person. I think they are now claiming in Canada as well as the US, that obesity is costing the medical system MORE money in related illnesses than smokers. So, yes, I believe it is very hard on our system and we should strive to for health. Good discussion... Google obesity and related diseases. There is a lot of info out there. http://www.obesityinamerica.org/complications.html
