  1. THANKYOU, thankyouthankyouthankyou........ I appreciate your response Dr C!
  2. Ya, now they ARE itchy. I am suspicious that it might be chicken pox. Don't remember having it as a child, will just watch it for a few days. Thanks everyone. Comforting to know you had something similar Serena. Thanks all.
  3. Thanks Lisa, I just had the water tested yesterday as a matter of fact. All was well. JUST PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE THE BAND. No new foods, no new clothes, no new detergent. I am at a loss....

    Rash?

I was banded this past July. I am not on any meds and haven't since before I was banded. I took a dose of Nyquil last night? I won't panic. My doc is out until Jan, so I might go to the walk in clinic. Thanks for your response.... No new food, no new detergent, no new clothes, no new products...I am at a loss here. Tell me not to panic. And I don't know if it is my imagination or what, but it IS itchy.... My doc is on holidays, so I might go to the walk in.... BTW Ariel! I see you aren't banded yet. Other than this rash, I feel so awesome. The band has given me hope in the weight loss battle. I feel so much more energy, I feel lighter on my feet, I sleep better, I just LOVE my band. Good luck with your journey, I will be watching out for you. hugs

    Why can't my husband understand????

My dh reacted the same way. I feel for you, many men/women others can't understand our pain and the struggle. I just quoted that 95-97% of people who diet, eventually fail gaining back all the weight. I also said that if I needed a new hip or knee replacement, he would feel different. I also said that if as he said, "eating a little less and exercising a little more" worked, he'd be a billionarie and have solved obesity as we know it. Dr Oz too for that matter. Finally, I said, this is my body and my money, and my decision. He wishes I didn't do this, I wish I didn't have to resort to surgery, but until some brainiac comes up with a magic pill, this is my best choice for a healthier life. PS hugs, I hope your guy comes around. Mine did, we don't talk about it much, which I prefer, but I sure feel better about myself 50 pounds less, he can see that I feel better. This is time for me. I too have 3 kids and have given up my all to be their mom and his devoted wife. This is for me. I told my dh that I appreciated his challenging my thinking, but in the end, I feel this was my best choice. Good luck, this is probably the toughest part, making and following through with your decision. hugs

    That sounds great Gaffer.

    Canadian Doctors/Clinics

I paid 12, 500. No extra charge for fills. His secretary is an excellent source of information. English is his second language and he doesn't have the best bedside manner, but I trust his skill implicitly. You would have to ask about another doctor filling after his work.

    Canadian Doctors/Clinics

Yes, I am a patient of Dr. Leung in Surrey, BC. There is another surgeon in Delta.... Not sure about Calgary, but if you do a search, you might find someone closer. It would be a nuisance to come to BC everytime you needed a fill. Good luck with your search. I know it isn't easy in the West. Here is a thread http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19719&highlight=british+columbia
  9. I expect to have it for life. God willing.
  10. ....but sometimes it feels as though I have to eat next to nothing to lose any weight. sigh Anyone else experience this? Could be my age, could be that I am in starvation mode and my body is holding onto the weight. So depressing. But, I shall work hard to take off the next 5 pounds...

    I AM exercising....

The P word, is what I should be practising. I had a plateau, then stepped on the scale this morning and BAM, down 4 pounds. I couldn't even believe it when I saw it. I had to get off and on 3 times to make sure...lol I must admit that I am making the mistake of weighing every morning and am disappointed if I don't see it move every couple of days. Patience, patience, persistence and one more "P" I can't think of just now.... Lisa if you ever get around to posting the Fat Flush, I might keep that in mind if it ever happens again. Thanks for your continued support hugs to all

    Clear liquids post op?

Hm, I came from a surgeon with probably the strictest post surgery diet ever. I was required to stay on 'clear liquids' the proper medical term, as you described. Broth, water, diet jello, and liquids with no calories. No dairy etc. Anyway, many of his patients complained and many didn't fulfill the necessary 30-35 days he suggested. I only lasted 24 days. BUT his reasoning was to give the band much needed healing time. The band is stitched to the stomach wall, holding it in place. When I asked him where my nutrients would come from, he brushed it off, saying not to worry, that my body would provide. And you know what, he was right. In one cup of home made broth I was getting about 6 grams of protein. I drank as much broth as I wanted. I went to the Support Forum here DAILY to cry and complain and get the support of my buddies here. :hugs to all of you who supported me: The weight FELL OFF, I felt great, did not feel weak. I wasn't running any marathons, but I felt remarkably good. And I look back at those 24 days and am proud. So good luck with your liquid stage and know that your body will provide. hugs
  13. I was NOT 100% sure I wanted this surgery, but now that I am banded and down nearly 50 pounds, I am sure I would do it all over again 100%. I felt nervous, and questioned my ability to do it on my own, just as you are doing. I looked again at the statistics of the number of people who lose it on their own and maintain that loss....read that there is a failure rate anywhere between 93% - 97%. My own track record, dieting from teen years. Looked at my future, possible diabetes, as it is in my family, possible heart disease, as that is in my family too, had one aunt and one grandparent who had knee replacements. Yep, I doubted it and myself. I figured my odds of being a healthy weight for the rest of my life was more easily attained and maintained with the band. Good luck with your decision, I know I made the right one.
  14. Claim your losses here. I need a thread to shout horray every time I lose a few. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I started out at 280. I am just dipping under 235 this morning and I am EXTATIC! Looking for some 220's soon. How about you?
  15. Well, I had an addiction to diet sodas before banding. I didn't know HOW I was going to survive witout my diet pop! But after banding, I simply gave it up completely, due to my surgeon saying NO CARBONATED beverages. It was a lot easier than I thought. Shrug...Now I can not stand the taste of diet anything. I prefer Water and I bet my body thanks me for it. Please be careful with carbonated beverages...
  16. The lapband has changed my life the way I had hoped it would. I am pretty early out of surgery, 3 1/2 months, but so far, for the first time in my life I feel hope. I have lost dread. I dreaded each and every time I began a program, knowing I would fail along with 95% + of others who start a weight loss program only to fail. So for that reason alone, I can't tell you how thankful I am that this was available to me. My attitude with regards to weight is finally in a positive and hopeful state.

    where should my port go?

Well, my surgeon placed my port in between my breasts. Just below the breastbone. Of late, I am finding it kind of uncomfortable, but then I imagine it at my waist or elsewhere and I kind of think this is the best of two evils. I'd like to hear of other placements. But my guy put it smack in the middle and just below my breastbone. PS, I am just shy of 6 feet and long waisted, so I think waistline might have been worst for me.

    DR Wai leung

I do to Katgirl! How are you doing and when was your surgery? I have to say, I am so damned excited. I have lost 46 pounds since July 21, and I am really feeling like this is going to work. Part of me feels like this is the impossible dream, but I am losing. So because of my success, I think Dr Leung is awesome. My hero....
