My pants almost fell down. If I wasn't holding onto them they would have. I was wearing my admittedly too big favorite jeans, I was running and had to grab the waistline. :girl_hug: Loving this band.

In 4 short hours I am hopping a plane and heading the family down to Disneyland. Very excited. Now, please tell me I won't buzz the buzzers going through the metal detectors. Please tell me my band won't bloat up and cause me to not be able to eat or drink. Please tell me it will be OK. I guess I should take my band card hey? I'd appreciate any advice on travelling, and going on amusement rides for that matter. Thanks in advance.

You were right, I did not set off any metal detectors. I was eyeballing up the person at the 'walk through' wondering how one explains that yes, it is a weight loss device in my belly, ha, but my underwire bra didn't set it off either. Disneyland was wonderful, I rode all the rides with my 3 kids 3-4 times in a row. Autumn, I was VERY impressed with the fresh fruit available at the park. My kids headed for the pineapple every single time. I had a blast, and the only time I knew I was banded was at dinner time. I never ordered a meal, just ate off my 7 and 9 year old plates since they NEVER finish even a kids size meal. So that sure saved a lot of money. Also finally got smart and hired a taxi to take me to a grocery store where everthing was much more reasonalbe. So California Screamin' 4 times Maliboomer 4 times Tower of Terror 4 times, etc, etc, had a blast, laughed like a kid. The BEST part of the trip, was NOT weighing myself for a full week. One evening whilst running to catch up to my kids my pants did almost fall down. I was holding them up at the airport on the way back. They were loose when I left, and looser upon my return. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Disney was AWESOME!

Thanks Julie and Molly, I am on my way. I love rides, never throw up. I am sure I can outlast my kids......still worried about the metal detectors however.....lol

Goodbye, it's been a slice, but I hope I never see you again....

Those teens were nasty and disrespectful! But they all grew up and moved on. HELLO SINGLE DIGITS. -
Just checking in to say the scale is moving again. I had a fill to 3.0 and at first it felt very loose, but one week later it has kicked in and I am tight. Whoo hoo, talk about restriction. This is awesome. Down to 212 at almost the 9 month mark for me and a 68 pound weight loss. I am really excited to get below 200, so will work on that as my next goal, don't care when it happens, expecting my body to fight it as I haven't been there for YEARS! How is everyone else doing at the 9 month mark?
-
Actually, the port is sewn to the muscle. So yes, it might 'smart' from time to time. Mine surely does and I rarely forget it is there at 9 months now. But the pain of being 100 pounds overweight is far worst in my opinion.

When I am that tight, usually a week or two after a fill, I drink Slim Fast shakes or Atkin's Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and whatever I cook for the family for dinner, tiny portions. I inevitebly loosen up after 2 weeks or so. If you don't loosen up then go get a slight unfill, but if you are anything like me, it will loosen up.

Would someone explain 'dialation'. Is that where the pouch stretches, or that some of the lower stomach comes above the band? If it is stretched, I don't understand how a few days of liquids would shrink the stoma. On that other hand, what do I know...ha, just curious. Thanks. Interesting information.

I saw part of this. EXCELELNT SHOW. I have it recorded. I look forward to watching the rest of it.

Did you see the PBS documentary on Obesity tonight?
Paulax replied to Lisa99's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to see this. It would help explain to some, what many of us already know, that it is not always just a matter of eating less, exercising more. I just googled it http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/takeonestep/fat/ -
My surgeon asked me to come in for a first fill at 6 weeks also. He also had me on a liquid diet for the frist 30 days. He said it was to allow the band to heal in place. Please do not test your band. You will have lots of years for it to work after it has healed in place. Exciting isn't it? I am 9 months out and FINALLY have good restriction and it is a wonderful thing................and my pants are too big.

Aw good for you. Sounds as though you are feeling really positive about your weight loss. I have now lost 65% of my excess weight. I am extatic, as I am about to beat those statistics that say band patients lose 60% on average of their excess weight. I am determined to lose 100%. I have joined a gym and hired a personal trainer and I see a difference. WHOO HOO to us! Keep going Stephanie.

There are lots of interesting posts in this section, unless you have already found yourself there. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/lap-band-fills-f13.html

Have you lost your taste for any favorite foods since being banded?
Paulax replied to Autumn444's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with the quality vs quantity issue, but for the most part, I have not lost my lust for sweets. I can leave the rice, potatos and breads no problem, but I still crave the sugars...still love chocolate, wish I didn't. -
What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, I think I have tightened up. Took some days, I just don't always 'get' this band. So I am at 3.0 and hope to ride this fill for a few months now. WARNING TO EVERYONE, FILLS CAN TIGHTEN UP A WEEK LATER........I was freaking out as to how loose I felt after my last fill. I honestly thought my doc missed his mark, but now H O L Y, nice and tight, just the way I like it.:clap2: :clap2: Down to 212 this morning, can't eat much during the day, can't eat much at night for that matter either, so life is good again. Thanks for putting up with me in my fill journey. -
I tolerate the posts, ignore them if they don't apply, I'll even respond to them if they are of interest. People are making honest mistakes by posting to the "most recent posts" link. I also tolerate the comments made in response to the wandering posters. I myself have accidently posted to the Australian thread. No one accused me of being unhelpful. At least I don't think...I guess I could go check. Cheers everyone!

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations, that is so exciting. I can hardly wait to say the same. -
Actually, I find ham very tollerable. Also the pea Soup, I make after the ham meal.:hungry: Now you got me hungry. We are serving turkey, and I was thinking of throwing a small ham in there somewhere. I cook for the family and eat what I can.

I need to vent. There is definately something wrong with my new fill. I have less fill sensation than yesterday. To prove it, I just ate my tiny can of salmon, ate it faster than usual and nothing, no pbing, restriction less than yesterday. Then after a bit of a panic attack, I downed a whole glass of milk, again nothing, then I just ate a rice cake and piece of cheese. NOTHING. I thought at 3ccs that I wouldn't be able to swallow my SPIT....I did phone and the office is closed. I must calm myself down now and just make another appointment. I guess I worry about WHY this would happen? Could it be that it leaked out as he filled, or as he pulled the needle out? During the fill he pulled out my old fill and then added .5.......so I know he hit the mark. BTW he does a blind fill, no floro. I am just upset as it means a 4 hour drive away from my 3 young kids and an overnight stay at a hotel...... Anyone else had this? Panicking Paula

Non fill? The invisible fill? The unfill?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Really? I thought it was agressive. I was surprised he wanted to go to 3.0! But thanks, that puts a new slant on things for me. I guess my big concern was that I felt more restriction the day BEFORE the fill. But, so far, I am OK. I think at this point I am AFRAID to test it. So I am eating well today, when I feel as though it isn't working, then I WILL go for another fill. Patience, patience, -
As of this morning, I am proud to report...that I officially weigh less.... than my big handsome husband....... Yea me, :pound:

I feel your pain, Honey, I feel your PAIN. Hey, I see you broke the 200 mark. I am gonna CRY when that happens.
