  1. Wow that is stressful nursinggal. It is 3:40pm Western Time. How are you doing? I have never been been to that point where I couldn't keep down water, and I am sorry, I can't answer your question I guess you have to go by how you feel, he said, if you feel dizzy and weak. So be careful and see if you need to go to the hospital tonight, or if you can wait til the morning. If you wait, be at your doctor's office door before he is....that must be very stressful. Hugs and let us know how it is going. And PLEASE, this is not your fault, this is not your failure. I hope it all works out Sweetie......hugs
  2. Oooo interesting, thanks for that explaination.
  3. Sorry, can't help you there. I don't know why it is tighter in the morning than evening. I also don't know why the differences during the 'time of month' or travelling. But all these things affect my band. Yes, I sip my water. We can't put more liquid or food in our stomach than it holds. Think sand in an hour glass. It takes time to empty before you can take in more. Also you know about the not drinking after a meal deal don't you? So if you have a meal even if it's soup, do not drink anything for at least an hour afterward. It will keep the food in your tiny tummy, making you feel full longer. If you drink water right after eating, it will 'flush' the food out of your stomach and you may feel hunger again. Let us know how you are doing.
  4. Yes, it is pretty normal to feel tighter in the morning. Right after a fill, I'd often just have an Atkin's or Slim Fast shake, same for lunch and then a small dinner of protein and soft veggies. BUT you SHOULD be able to keep down liquids during the day. If not, definately go get a small unfil. Let us know how it goes.

    Bulemic state of mind?

I think it is good to talk about, so good for you all for outing yourselves First of all, I think we ALL experience pbing at some time. I will pb, if I eat too much, or too fast, or the wrong food. I would like to ask Dr C what the possible complications are from pbing often or habitually. But I do know that it is not good, and aside from the odd pb, it should be avoided at all costs. I am just guessing here, but I think that ultimately you risk losing your band, due to complications. Slipped band come to mind, esophegeal herniation comes to mind. I am hoping Dr C comes in here and clarifies. So no guilt, but do educate yourselves, and treat yourselves and your band with respect.
  6. Nursinggal, I would have to say that you are too tight if you can not eat your small protein serving, plus a bit of veggie. Although, having said that. I like a tight fill and I tend to losen up after 10 pounds or so. I am glad you found a new fill doctor, but 1.0 seems like a big jump to me. My doc went up by .5 increments. So ya, you might feel really tight nowk, after a fill of 1.0. Let us know how you are doing and what you decide.
  7. I am finding some things strange and some even a bit uncomfortable. Sensations from dropping 82 pounds. "Hey, I have bones!" When I lay on my side in bed, my knees knock, it's actually somewhat uncomfortable without those thighs cushioning the knees. I am not sweating and hot all the time. In fact, sometimes I am downright chilly. I love that my waistbands no longer dig into my stomach. and once again.....HEY, I HAVE BONES! I wonder what new strange sensations will come as I drop the last 30 pounds. Whatever they are, I am ready. Do you have any strange sensations?

    Any strange sensations thinner?

...another thing I find interesting....I wanted to make a comment to another overweight person about 'my fat ass'. I thought better of it since my ass is not so fat anymore, I would have just looked like an ass saying it. lol! But I thought it interesting that a making a self-degrading comment would have kept me in the 'group' feeling. A place I felt comfortable for many, many years. Now I will have to think of new ways to feel included. Positive ways.

    Clothes

Currently, I only have one pair of jeans that fit.....and I don't even care. Thank goodness summer is around the corner, beacuse I can just wear a bathing suit and wrap or shorts and shirts, but come this Fall, I had better save my money for new jeans..... I LOVE IT. I haven't gone to the second hand store, because I am 6ft and need long legged pants. I have been careful not to buy too many things on the way down. I have bought a few new things only to regret it as they get too big before I feel as though I got my money out of it. Anyone get to goal and spend a bomb on clothes?

    Countdown to Onederland!

Come on in ladies, take my hand, the water's fine. Just checking in to help encourage my buddies to dip into the waters of 190's. I am still under 200, went on a bit of an ice cream bender, but now back on plan. Getting under 200 wasn't as hard as I thought . Now getting under 198! Now THAT's is the kicker. And getting back to the gym I joined a few months back, ya THAT I need help with......

    banders in British Columbia

Yes, Doddie, a one month waiting list is really awesome! It really IS strange to me that there aren't more surgeons doing this surgery in BC. This IS the most beautiful province! Lol! ducks for cover. But, yes, I do see more happening in the future. In the meantime, I think we should go back to med school and become lap band specialists. And I hope you find a fill doc or nurse closer. Even with cheap flights, it is time consuming.

    banders in British Columbia

Well, now that I totally understand. But for the people who live in BC, who went to Toronto. I guess I am just curious. I chuckled at the beautiful digs comment, comparitively, Dr Leung has some of the UGLIEST digs I have ever seen. Lol! BUt he is an awesome surgeon, and that what mattered most to me. But as for your mom, there is another option in Dr Leung

Although I am incredibly jealous of the FABULOUS clinic in TLBC. I am curious why no one is considering Dr Leung. OK, he has not got the best of bedside manners, he is ESL, he is even a bit on the aged side. But have you considered Leung? I love the guy, I AM jealous of the counselling you get at TLBC, but I am not jealous of the distance you have to travel for fills. So call me curious.
  14. I have told very few people and I too, feel this guilt that everyone must feel as though I have 'THE SECRET', so I say it is never too late. I will tell people who I feel would benefit from my experience. I don't have to justify why I didn't tell them at the start. If you feel your coworker would benefit from your experience. I say tell her. But you can bet that who ever you tell, they WILL tell others, so if you are comfortable with that, then go for it. hugs and congratulations on your weight loss.

    July 2006 Band Crew

I like it here. I think it will be easier to track. I am holding my 198. I am finding the summer-like conditions harder to stay away from the high calorie beverages and Snacks. So must make a concerted effort to not be dumb this summer. My kids don't need any of it either. They are all thin, and I plan on them staying that way. Hmmm, I am working on the last 30 pounds or so. I have dropped in my excitement on going to the gym. This last 2 weeks of school is CRAZY busy. That can be both good and bad. Anyway, just making my weekly check in. Hope you are all still maintaining and losing.... It is very hard for me to believe that we are coming up on our 1st anniversary. I am so thrilled I followed through. I am 82 pounds thinner and feel so awesome I can't even stand it. I can hardly wait to lose the last 30, then I think I might be on top of the world. Eddie, tell me about maintaining.

I didn't notice at first, but I sure do now. My hands and feet are always cold. Let's just say I love my hot tub. Keep warm. Also fleece is the most amazing fabric.:heh:

  18. I just heard that yesterday. I'll take it as a compliment, but ya no, 199 pounds is not my final goal. No doc in the world would say I am at goal. This is a wonderful and supportive friend of mine who said this, so I do take it as a compliment. Still I wonder where it comes from when people say this to us near goalies. My husband, hinted the same thing. I wonder if it is a comfort zone with them? Have you heard this lately?
  19. Well, I couldn't feel mine at first, but now that I have dropped over 80 pounds I can feel it......lol!

I think you have lost enough...

OOO nice to 'meet' another 6 footer. I am already fitting into generous 14's. I'd like to lose my tummy fat and a bit around my thighs and back. I am not asking for skinny, just to lose this muffin top. I'd love to weigh anywhere between 172-180 and be a Tall Girl size 12. Yep, that'd be good for me. If I have to have surgery to get rid of this tummy fat, I'll consider that too. I have no fear of looking anorexic. I will never look anorexic...lol!

I think you have lost enough...

My dear MIL just said it last night. My response "Thanks!" Why say anymore than that right? LIFE IS GOOD!

I think you have lost enough...

I KNOW!!!!! Isn't it wonderful? I am feeling beautiful again for the first time in many, many, many years. I LOVE this band..... hugs

    2cc in a 4cc/hungry??

There are a LOT threads in the Lap Band Fills section on this very topic. I would warn you that a band can tighten up a week or 2 - 4 weeks later. So your restriction just may be around the corner. When you get near 3.0cc's THEN you will really feel restriction......at least that is how it was for me. Wait a while, you might be in for a tightening up experience. Good luck Band life is great.

I think you have lost enough...

You know it is funny. Not one person said ANYTHING until just recently. I prefer people not to notice actually. In my head, if they don't notice my 80 pound weight loss, perhaps they never noticed how big I was in the first place. hhahahaha But ya, travelgirl, no one said anything to me when I was down 40, 50, 60 and even 70 pounds. Either they were worried I'd gain it back or just didn't want to jinx me. I don't know. But now, I wish they'd STOP. But I am weird that way, I really don't want the attention.

Can a to tight fill eventualy pass.

I am not sure. I have never been too tight. I HAVE been tight though, and it took more than 6 weeks to loosen up. I think the loosening up had to do with fat loss around the stomach. HOWEVER, I must warn you that my band has tightened up 2 weeks after a fill. So please be careful. Can you drink Water? When do you return home? Let us know how you are doing.
