  1. I answered 'of course I'd do it again' in another post, but I often think of what if I NEVER had the lap band. I'd be at my heightest weight STILL. I'd be looking at what NEXT program to try. What ELSE should I spend my hard earned money on? I'd be feeling all the negative emotions of self-defeat. Wondering what to wear this summer. I feel blessed, and yes I'd do it all over again, in a heartbeat. What would you be doing and feeling if you had not had the lap band?

    Would you do it again?

  3. I posted my one year anniversary and now I am wondering how people do on average in their second year. I have about 25 more pounds to go. I am not trying too hard this BBQ and wine season......but come September, I am buckling down again. How are you or did you do in your second year of bandland? Thanks in advance.
  4. Weight loss is in slooooooooooo moooooooooooooooootion! But to be honest, I have been partaking much more alcohol this summer than usual and eating more of the bad stuff. But my fill is still pretty good. I am going to be more serious about my good food this month and come September, I am gonna rock on hard. I am determined to beat the odds of a 60% weight loss. I am aiming to lose 100%..... 20-25 more to go..... How is everyone else doing on their current fill. I'd love to hear. I am thinking, one more small fill to 3.2 and I will be there.

    July 2006 Band Crew

Hello everyone! I'd love to hear from everyone banded in July 06 about where your fill is after one year. I have the 4.0 max band and I am at 3.0ccs. I'd love to know where you are after one year. Thanks in advance.
  6. Wow, just came home from a wonderful cruise to Alaska. What a beautiful country! What a beautiful cruise! and What beautiful FOOD! Lol! Just wanted to report on my experiences. I am banded one year today, thank you, thankyouverymuch. I just got home from an Alaska cruise yesterday. I loved the company, I loved the countryside, I loved the food, or at least what I could eat of it. In my experience, travelling does cause my band to tighten. I am told that elevation changes shouldn't affect the band. But I hear that stress does, so if anything, that is what tightened me this past week. Was I bothered by the tiny amounts that I could fit into my little pouch? yes, sometimes I was. But I have to report that I tried a bit of everything that I wanted and have no regrets as to what I may have left behind on my plate. I WAS however THRILLED with my new size 12 pants from Ricki's, my whole wardrobe in fact. The feeling of not being embarrassed walking from my lounger to the pool and hot tub. The wonderful compliments I got from my family and friends. Today I am 85 pounds thinner than I was one year ago. I have 20 pounds to go to get to my goal. I feel younger, healthier and more energetic than I have felt in a lifetime of fighting my weight. I am so grateful for this surgery and the positive changes it has brought to my life.
  7. Haven't been here for at least a week, but just wanted to comment on the variability of a fill 3.0 has been for me. I just went on a cruise with BEAUTIFUL and PLENTIFUL food and only a banded nervous person like me could lose weight. I was so nervous or something made me tight. FOr some reason travel makes me tight, I KNOW altitude should make any different, but perhaps retaining fluid does. So anyway, I couldn't eat much, but got a taste of everything I wanted and came home about 3 pounds lighter...........have to say I am loving that. I am glad to hear you got a fill from the good doctor Gilbert. I am here rooting for you my sister. Tomorrow is my one year anniversary and I can NOT believe it. I am 85 pounds lighter, but SO much lighter in my mind. I feel like I have gained a new life. Hugs to all my friends. Keep losing.....hugs

    Freaking out pre-op

I freaked out too....11 months ago....I even considered jumping off the operating table and running. I didn't however and I am so glad I went through with it and 11 months later 82 pounds lighter. I am convinced that I'd still be 280 pounds PLUS, had I not gone through with this life changing surgery. Good luck in your journey you two. I hope you find the success and happiness that many of us banded peeps have found. What you are feeling is normal and natural....hugs.
  9. I have not looked into it seriously yet, but I hope to have a tummy tuck when I reach goal. I also tend to keep a lot of fat in my tummy, inparticular above my waistline. My question is to those of you who have had lipo. Can it be done without hitting the port and tubing leading from the port to the ban? . Do they go araound it? I can't imagine this.....
  10. I have never heard of this. Sound too good to be true. Thanks for the info.
  11. I confess. My weight loss has slowed down, but I still have restriction. Sometimes more than others. My weight loss has really centered around my fills. I get a fill, I drop 10-20 pounds pretty quickly, I slow down, I stop. I am in the slow down process, but have not really stopped. But I AM confessing that I am into the junk. STOP ME, I AM A MONSTER! Lol! I will get better, I am thinking that with only 27 more pounds to go, I will take it easy this summer and go for a fill and get down to some more serious business this Fall when the kids go back to school. So just confessing and complaining here. Nice to have a place to do that. Cheers, Paula

    July 2006 Band Crew

Kari, that is the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me. Ditto to you, you gorgeous thing you. Baylor mom. Are you too tight? Is that why you are restorting to Protein bars. I regularly have Protein shakes for Breakfast. I got the idea from tv where I saw a bodybuilder, who had one for breakfast every morning. Probably more nutrients in that than my previously banded breakfast of toast and jam. But you do need your real food. I have some favorites. Tuna or salmon salad. Soups, and for dinner, I have always eaten what I cook for my family. Proteins and boiled veggies. I usually always have a can of salmon salad. It is already mixed with mayo. I just open and eat. I love those summer squash soups from Knorr, just open and heat. I haven't eaten much fruit, but I have been eating the soft and ripe variety. Lately, I have gone back to salads. Just tiny, tiny measures. 1/2 cup. What in your diet are you worried about? Fibre? Protein? Keep trying different stuff. I can tolerate some things one day and not others so it is sometimes trial and error. Let us know how you are doing. I have decided I like 198 and have stayed there for a while now....snort.
  13. Thanks you two, you are so right. I AM being greedy. So close to goal, I just want it done yesterday. But you're right. When I eat the proper foods, I am still tight enough. I AM loosening up though I can tell, so I will enjoy a few more weeks or months of this and then see how things feel. Thanks kindly.
  14. Curious! I am preband and I love carbs for Breakfast, toast, Cereal etc, and I know I may have to change that after banding.......

    Eating Bread

I am 11 months out, I haven't included bread in my diet. And thankfully, I don't even miss it. I did have a 1/4 pb&j on 100% whole wheat, the other day. I didn't eat the crust and it went down fine, and stayed down. But I never even try the white kind. Before banding, I low carbed, so I am OK with no bread. And I have to say that I am a former addict. I have eaten the tops off pizza and discarded the crust. I have eaten the center of a sandwiches. Truly, it isn't something I miss.

    Last Minute Doubts

Glad you are home and on the mend. Be kind to yourself. I just wanted to tell you that every day I thankful and love myself for being courageous enough to go through with this surgery. I am 11 months out now and 82 pounds less. I feel so alive and good about myself and how I look and feel. Some days I STILL can't believe that I actually went through with this surgery. I did actually think of jumping off the table in surgery. But I am sure thankful that I didn't. And this morning, I felt particularly beautiful when I put on my brand new loose fitting white Esprit size 14 capris.:clap2: I am thankful evey day for my surgeon and those of my freinds here and in real life who went before me. Keep us up on your progress and congratulations, this is the first day of the rest of your life, thinner and healthier for it.
  21. :bump2:..............................
  22. Don't know why I didn't do this MONTHS AGO! I am drinking my breakfast this morning. 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and 1/2 banana, all mixed up in a blender with 1 cup milk. I don't eat much fruit so this is a good way to get my fruit in. I also have a juicer. I might drink 3 carrots later. YUMMY and lots of Vitamins........drinking slowly of course.
  23. And I was looking for him yesterday. JACK, COME BACK!
  24. I am glad you got that looked after nursing gal......

    After Fill Bruised. Normal??

Ya, funny, that has never happened to me until my last fill. So I'd say I must have been lucky otherwise. It will go away though.
