DID you GAIN OR LOSE WEIGHT POST-OP BEFORE YOUR FIRST FILLS.
Paulax replied to LovingWhatIs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost the most weight during this period, but only because I followed my surgeon's advice and did a clear liquid fast for 24 days. But having said that, I can say that I have never gained weight. I have fluctuated, and I have stalled for 6 months, but never gained any weight. -

I just bought the BEST jeans!!! EVER!!!
Paulax replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I buy all my jeans here and almost always have to hem them. - The Tall Girl Shop Canada -
I have tried really hard to change my bad habits. I have joined a gym, hired a personal trainer and made exercise a part of my daily habits. I try to keep myself busy, so as not to focus on food so much. I have all but given up liquid calories, no more juice, very little booze. I have tried to keep a 'clean' house. Even my 3 thin children don't need junk food. My dh and I make family activity days every weekend. We swim as a family, take the kids for hikes, ski as a family. We really focus our family on physical activity. The band has been a blessing in my life and I don't believe I could have lost or maintained this weight without it. What changes are you making or planning on making? I like Bob Greene's attitude, when he says to start with one small change and add from there.

I can eat just about anything. I do not eat bread, rice, potatos. I can eat them in small amounts, but I chose not to. Have never had a problem with beef, or any Proteins for that matter. Sometimes dry meats are harder to take than at other times, but no problem overall. Never had a problem with popcorn, but don't eat it much. Love nuts, eat them daily. Raw, unsalted chashews. Don't eat candy, but I would be leary of licorice or anything gummy, that when swallowed may get stuck. That is just me, we are all different. You should be able to enjoy these items.

Once An Overeater, Always An Overeater
Paulax replied to rebandit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Excellent post Wheetsin! I am an overeater. But I have to say that if preband my desire to overeat was a 10/10, 16 months later it is maybe a 4/10. I have spent those months looking for other ways to replace my addiction. This is a learning process and it will take time to undo or redo or relearn our bad habits. I know I have to keep my house 'clean' of unhealthy foods. If it isn't there, I won't eat it. I have joined a gym and am TRYING to be addicted to exercise. Not addicted yet, but physically ache if I don't go. Be kind to yourself and work on learning some new tricks. Replace an old 'bad' habit with some 'new' healthy ones. Because I can attest to the fact that, life is wonderful 100+ pounds lighter. -
Good point. It almost seems to me that people STILL equate a bit of weight with good health. But really it's the opposite. Extra weight = added health problems. For now, I just refuse to talk about it with my MIL, she's really the only one who is 'worried' about me. I just do my thing. I had blood tests done and I am perfectly healthy and I point that out to her. I also point out that I am 1000% more healthy than 100 pounds ago.

I guess that is what happens when you want the best...
Paulax posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did my research and finally phoned my PS of choice. Seems to be one of the best in my area. I gasped at the nice scar lines on his website. First consult date available, Oct 1, 2008:faint: Surgery within 3 months after that. But I am OK with that. I have a lot of time to prepare myself, lose my last 3 pounds and get into the best physical shape possible. -
I live in smallish town British Columbia, Canada. I am about 5 hours from Vancouver. In Vancouver, there are some awesome surgeons, but I wanted something closer to home. The other surgeons in his office do not have a wait that long, but I want this guy.

I did my research and finally chose a PS. I gasped at his fine work online. Nice low TT scars, straight, nice work. I was impressed enough to phone. First consult date----------Oct 1, 2008 ---- This is where I faint. :faint: Surgery date within 3 months of consult. But I can wait, this gives me time to lose my last 3 pounds and to get into the best physical shape possible. It also gives my skin time to adjust since I read somewhere that skin can take up to a year to shrink after weight loss. But I am doing the happy dance.

Anyone Else Having an Increased Sex Drive?
Paulax replied to LovingWhatIs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know of what you speak. I went from 'could'a been a nun' to 'Got my Sexy Back'. I read somewhere that not only is it the benefit of feeling better slimmer, but there are actually hormones releases in the fat stores that increase our sexual desire. Can't remember where I read it, but I believe it. This can't all be in my mind. -
What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Paulax replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Approximately 9 weeks since your TT. I am curious to know how you are feeling and if you are back to your normal daily activities? Thanks in advance. :giggle: I just phoned my local ps and am waiting for a consult date. Thank you for being one of my inspirations.....
