I'm a year out from gastric bypass I've lost 110 lbs and have been doing well until this morning. I drank my coffee with sugar free creamer and whip cream on top that's my treat i drink it almost every morning. I did today and about 45 minutes later I felt like I was going to faint, my heart rate was in the 100's I was shaking so bad i couldn't hold my phone. I was weak I could barely walk. I started to hyperventilate. Then I started to feel waves of extreme heat. I really thought I was going to die. I NEVER WANT TO FEEL THAT AGAIN!!! All I ingested was that coffee. Did I drink it too fast? Did I finally have a reaction to the whip cream? WTF? Was this even dumping? Any ideas you guys? Has anyone ever gone through something like this? And what do you do to get rid of it?
-
You're probably right and I probably drank it too fast? I don't know but I NEVER EVER want to go through that again it was the worst and scariest thing I've felt.
-
I literally was scared I was dying! Over a cup of coffee with whipped cream. Needless to say I NEVER have to have that again.

Keep up on your water intake If it's hard to stomach plain water drink it with an additive like crystal light or something like that, also drinking warm water helps it go down easier. Use some miralax, or utilize Milk of magnesia (the plain one.) Keep moving as much as possible. You got this. Need help or have questions? I check this forum once or twice a week if I can help I'll be happy to. You used to be me.

Lol trust me I did too.

I'm essential so I'm working everyday 6 days a week. But I find due to stress and fear and huge anxiety I'm eating WAY too much and mindlessly. Of course what I'm eating is slider foods. I have stopped losing and I gained 2lbs! (I'm a year out) I've definetly got to do better
-
This is normal. If it continues past the first few then consult your Dr. But it should gradually go away. You did just have your whole digestive system rerouted.

Have you spoken to your surgeon?

Could i smoke after 1 month ?
Mrs. Hayes replied to amirali.zarrin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't do it friend. Please. I used to be a smoker who loved to smoke. So I understand wanting to and thinking it does your nerves good. It does not. PLEASE DO NOT START BACK. It is so dangerous for you after surgery. You can do this hang in there. It sends people are fussing at you but we care about each other here. We want each other to do well. Good luck -

Questions about eating
Mrs. Hayes replied to LawrenShrinking's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I PROMISE it will get better as times goes on. I felt exactly like you do now. I'm 9 months out and I still hit a snag and I'm still learning but it is WAAAY better than it was earlier on. I can eat different meats and different foods normally I just eat smaller bites and smaller portions and I chew chew chew. You'll be fine just know that this is the best thing you could have done for your health. Take some deep breathes and relax you can do this. -
Update. I Pretty much threw up until ALL of that crap came out. Apparently they reconstituted and swelled in my lil pouch and my stoma and blocked anything from going down. I figured this out because as I was throwing up (for hours) everything that came up was way larger than what went in. I will NEVER eat dried ANYTHING again I'm still upset. Anyway the next day I went way back to the beginning and rested poor pouch and only had liquids. And that is HARD to do 9 months out I must say. Thank you guys for commenting and caring and any really new post ops we continue to learn as you see.

3 mo post RNY 24/7 NAUSEA...
Mrs. Hayes replied to mom2amrt's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You need to call your surgeon. Im not a Dr. And I don't even play one on T.V. but that isn't normal and it could be just something simple like a stricture or an ulcer either way please call. And in the meantime focus on your hydration. Keep us posted. -
I just need to tell someone who cares or understands my anguish about going bald my hair is literally coming out in clumps, strands falling out when the wind blows. This is effing devastating. I get 100gms of protein. I drink 80 oz or more of water. I take ALL supplements and NEVER miss. And I **** you not I am literally looking at wigs. I can't even breathe.

Problem digesting meat?
Mrs. Hayes replied to Joyfuljourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that I'm almost 8 months post bypass I can eat all meat but beef in ANY form is nasty now because I can taste the "blood" no matter how it's cooked, and steak was one of my favorite foods. -
I'm 7 months out and have been doing well I've lost 100lbs. The other dau I went to blaze pizza and got a keto crust pizza with no sugar sauce and smoked ham with a few veggies. Ate 1 slice (I've done this several times before) the next day yesterday at lunch i ate 1 slice then some watermelon of which I've had before. 2 hours later AT WORK my hands started to shake and my heart rate went to over 100 I felt so weak almost faint I was able to get home and I fell into the bed TERRIFIED. I never had pain, nausea, or loose stool. I laid there in a stupor for about 2or3 hours and it went away. Okay family. WTF was that? Was it the watermelon juice pushing the food thru to fast? What? Please put your thinking caps on because now I have ALL food anxiety!

Make sure anything you take has no sugar and no NSAIDS like aspirin, ibuprofen etc. The nyquil pills have a gel outer shell that might not dissolve well. So you might want to squeeze the contents out into your drink. I find it easier to take single formulation over the counter meds than trying to take multiple formulation meds like "Tylenol Cold" etc. I hope you feel better.

Im thinking I ate watermelon (which i always eat but by itself) to soon after my lunch
-
OMG! This happened to me yesterday and scared the hell out of Me! I hope I never go through that again I was shaking so bad and weak and my heart rate was over 100!!

I lost a lot of hair starting 3 months post op and it was VERY upsetting even tho I knew it was going to happen. I had a hysterectomy in 2015 and also had hair loss after that surgery so I knew what to expect. My hair stopped falling around month 5 and I noticed a LOT of baby hairs sticking up everywhere. Now I shed the normal I usually would. I only took my regular bariatric vitamins prescribed. I don't really think all of the Biotin really makes a difference with stopping hair loss.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! -
You're going to do great. It's normal to feel nervous. When it's done don't hesitate to call on us for reassurance and advice (after the surgeon and your team of course.) We will always help when we can. This is an exciting time!

Drink up! Better things are yet to come. Welcome to the bench my dear!

Has anyone out there dumped on popcorn? I'm almost 7 months out and still have LOTS of foods I've never tried post op and this is one of them. I fear dumping more than anything right now
-
And I have thought of that, but I know people eat it after gastric bypass.
