She gave me a booklet with diet parameters for me to follow and left me on my own. How long does it take water to pass through?
Mrs. Hayes replied to Krestel's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums

I had an adhesion from an OLD c section and an old hysterectomy. I got my bypass and the next day ended up in emergency surgery from a bowel blockage due to said adhesions! I had 3 blood transfusions and was in ICU for an entire week. With ANY abdominal surgery there is always a risk if adhesions. The blockage was not due to my bypass unfortunately it happened a day later.

The hormonal changes can be really bad and effect our emotions really hard while we are actively losing the weight. If it gets really bad for you please don't hesitate to reach out to your Primary Dr. Your Surgeon's office, or even seek out a therapist to talk to. There is even a thread here called Mental Health and a lot of members discuss these same issues. Don't ever think you are alone. You're not.

I have been struggling with anxiety and panic since my surgery I'm 3 1/2 months post OP and it's really getting to me. I've been told that the incredible amount of hormones that are trapped in fat are released with rapid loss and wreak havoc with our emotional states. It gets better I've been told. I am getting better because I know feeling this way is normal. I also see a therapist because this journey has opened doors I insisted remain shut thru my life and now they need to be cleaned and aired out. I will be okay and you will too my friend YOU WILL TOO.

Where are you located? -
Good idea because trust they will keep buggin.

It all depends on if you have Co- morbidities like high blood pressure, diabetes, Gerd etc. If you have those even if you have a BMI of 35 sometimes they will still do the surgery.

AMEN and AWOMEN TOO!

Let me know how you do with it.

Yes this happens to a lot of post surgery people. I'm 3 1/2 months out and I have to either add something like a flavoring or drink it warm so it is not so uncomfortable going down. I JUST started drinking alkaline water and IT GOES DOWN SMOOTH with NO PAIN! It's actually softer than plain water and I don't have to add anything to it. You should try it.

How did you know you had the marginal ulcer and how are they handling it?

I'm 13 weeks it and down 50lbs still only getting in 500-650 calories. I haven't eaten beef, pork, fruit things like that. Me and fish OF ANY TYPE do not agree. I'm still afraid of dumping. I wish I had people around me that I could go through this with.
