    April 2019 Surgeries!

Wow. Everyone is killing it! Congratulations you all. I am down 77 pounds. Finally broke my most extended stall yet this morning. Yay! I haven't been logging as much as I should. I plan to get back on it asap.

    4 weeks post op

I felt the same way you did. I lost 16 pounds my first month and was freaking out because some people drop like 30 pounds in the first few weeks. Needless to say, I am at 16 weeks out and have lost 75 pounds. It's a cumulative thing when it comes to weight loss and surgery. Some people lose fast, some slow, some lose steadily. You are doing amazing.
  3. I am a bit like this - except I do feel tired at times (but being sleepy and tired are two different things). Yet, i will still only sleep 5 hours a night. I feel restless and can get into manic mode. I have hypothyroidism. Im not doing IF. I told my pa at my 3 month check up a few weeks ago - she said it was probably hormonal. I have lost about 74 pounds and i am almost 16 weeks out. We can be up all night buddies.
  4. I had gastric bypass a few months ago - and my GERD is gone. I also wanted the nissen fundoplication but my doctor told me that gastric bypass was initially a procedure for GERD. I decided right then and then to have the surgery. I hope you feel better soon. I know how much having reflux can impact your day to day life.
  5. The only thing my doctor would prescribe is gabapentin for pain. The gas pain is the problem - 100%. Gabapentin for not work for me at all. I get there has been a climate change in the medical field due to the opioid epidemic. I had a bilateral mastectomy with expanders 8hour surgery and left with a bag filled with pain meds. After this surgery, I was told it's either gabapentin or Tylenol. Luckily my discomfort didn't last long but - I was shocked.
  6. I woke up and felt exactly the way you did. My hospital had extremely strict conditions regarding pain medication given.

    North Carolina Bariatric Patients

So I have a question is there anyone in the triangle or wake county area that is interested in a work out partner? I was thinking maybe once or twice a week ( I know it is summer and people are on vacation). At the moment my schedule is rather flexible. I have thinking maybe about trying cross fit or some sort of organized group fitness class. I have reached the point where I am looking a bit sharpei-ish. Flappy skin is starting to emerge. Feel free to message me.

    Losing slow but I’m happy

Congrats on the size 14 - you look amazing. Love this post. We all can't lose 20+ pounds a month and that's a-ok!
  10. This is so true! Everyone loses differently. You never know what the next week or month may bring to be honest, weight loss wise. Some people love a ton of weight in the first month, some people lose more consistently. We all work hard but some of us just have to work harder at making our tool work for us. I also feel like head work involves not comparing - it can be such a temptation while in a stall. I hear your frustration sister @bajankatbajankat. I am cheering you on 150%.
  11. @FluffyChix it is really simple and easy I swear. The only issue is that it doesn't keep for long which is why I normally cave and by commercial.
  12. You can make your own but milk if you have a high speed blender and some cheese cloth. This recipe includes a series of nuts but you can just Google the ratio. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bonappetit.com/recipe/basic-nut-milk/amp
  13. I rarely have acne...normally I might have a pimple or two heralding that time of the month but since surgery I have a little crop of acne rotating around my face. I assumed it was due to hormonal disruption. I realized I have been blessed not to have this issue before but if anyone has any acne products they recommend....my pimply face would be appreciative.

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Same honestly. For many years 150, was the number my body loved loved to stay at...and whenever I was able to exercise and diet myself to 135 I would feel victorious. I would love to maintain at 140 with 10 pounds (150) wiggle.

    Eating Salad

Bibb lettuce, Protein and dressing. I make a peanut sauce using PB2. Eat your protein first and take it slow. I started off with a lettuce wrap (bibb). Bibb lettuce is delicate and a good foray into salads. I am at Duke, too (Duke Regional). It is nice to see another RTP'er. Continued success to you.
  16. I am! I keep on top of sales and freeze seafood. I have had no issues with fish etc and I am just in my 7th week.
  17. It has helped me immensely to see people who are moderate to slower losers reach their goals, because I agree with you. As time goes by it is easier not to compare but when you see someone with the same exact stats as you almost and a similar surgery date with more dramatic results it can be a bit anxiety producing in the moment - even if you are happy for the person. Anytime I feel discouraged I just tell myself look at the long term not short term picture and take it month by month. Little goals. You can finish an apple in big bites or small bites just as long as you finish.
  18. Me, too. Completely.
  19. I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Like that is protein price per pound.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hey fellow April'ers! I'm glad everyone is doing so well. SD: 4.9.2018 PSW: 274 SW: 262 CW: 236.6
  21. I feel that it would be nice to have more pt on the backs and celebrating of wins for people who are moderate or slow losers. I have been even thinking of starting a thread maybe - does someone know if there is one already. I think it is great when people drop 35 pounds in the first two weeks and reach goal in six months. It is incredible. Not all of us are like that. I know a lot of pre-surgical people are primarily concerned with weight loss and how quickly they will reach their goals - and get super jazzed at hearing about people who have lost weight more quickly. That excitement can then turn into disappointment post surgery when they don't drop 35 pounds in two weeks and it leads to depression and "what am I doing wrong...Im following my program". They aren't doing anything wrong - it is just their expectations. Also people who haven't had the surgery often will tell u 'oh you will be droppingtons of weight'. They have good intentions but - they can also make one feel like your progress is disappointing. I just think it would be nice to have a thread that gave newbies like myself and newbies more realistic expectations.

When can I sleep on my stomach?

Exactly the same for me. I turned on the fifth day home after feeling really good...set me back a few days pain wise. I guess it is an individual thing.
  23. Thanks for the info! Thus far I am a moderate - slow loser....which is totally okay. I just know I am going to have to throw everything I have to really get the most out of this year. I will see what my team says in July!
  24. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Great advice. I will follow it. I'm still riding the unflavored protein power train.
  25. Long time lurker...First time poster on this thread. I am only six months out but have always been interested in IF - before wls I could never quite get in the groove. Is six months to early to give IF a whirl? I will ask my RD in July when I have my next appointment. I'm just impatient by nature and thought you all might have started before your year-aversary. I will just research and follow this thread for the time being.
