    Alcohol (Wine) Post Op???

Hello, I just got banded on the 14th and my doctors says not to drink alcohol and carbonated drinks for a month after surgery. I know plenty of people who consume them and had no problems. I hope this helped you!
  4. Thanks for your replies! I still eat my pureed foods and liquids, and as far as meatloaf is concerned..its very soft and easy to consume. But I do appreciate your advice though. I was very curious to know why I couldnt drink caffeine. Yes doctors do have different guidelines and I see that everyones experience is different. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.
  5. Hello everyone! I am one week post opt. I am doing fine! I feel great and I am following my post opt instructions. Over the weekend, my boyfriend cooked meatloaf and mash potatoes. Surprisingly, I was able to eat it with no problems. I had a very small amount, but as I was reading my instructions,it says to stay away from caffeine. Now I had at least two small cups of ice tea. I have been drinking Water sooo much and it was so tempting!:crying: My question is why cant we have any caffeine and are their any side effects. I will greatly appreciate any advice, thanks.

    Help anyone? Please!

Hi, I am one week post opt. I had my surgery the same day as you. I havent experienced any pain like yours, but i did have a lil gas. I would suggest you walk and take some priolsec. My surgeon is also out of New York, Dr. Bessler out of Columbia Pres. He has prescribed me liquid codene which really help me thru my pain. My pain alleviated on the third day, and I am doing great! I didn't have a burning sensation, but I did have pain in my chest and I soon realized it was gas. I didnt take my gas medicine because as I went for a walk it went away. Try walking at a slow pace and when u get home drink some peppermint tea(very slow) and see if that helps you. I hope you feel better!
  7. Hi, I just got banded yesterday! I dont regret it at all. I have been on this forum for a couple of months and I was thinking all types of stuff! I read so much on how some people cant deal with the pain and how gassy they are. Surprisingly I only got signs of gas yesterday and today I feel great! I wish I would of done this sooner. I am looking forward to a better lifestyle.
  8. Hello everyone! I have been approved for surgery on the 14th July. I wanted to know how long do I have to wait to start going to the gym. Any advice will be helpful, thanks.

    Dr. Bessler

Hi Mike! Thanks for getting back to me. I actually got approved in less than a week. My surgery is on the 14th of July! I can't wait, but at the same time nervous! I have an appointment on the 30th of June and they say to try to loose 30lbs. I havent lost anything! I am going to start my optifast on Monday..so pray for me:-). What other advise to you have? How much weight have you lost since the surgery?
  12. Hi, I am waiting for my surgery for lapband. I was wondering where in New York did u get banded at? My surgeon that i would like to do my surgery is Dr.Bessler. He is at Preysbaterian. I am so sorry that the band didnt work for you. I am new on this forum and everyday I read the positives and negatives that people have to say. So any insight would really help, thanks.

  13. Hello all, I am just curious to know if anyone has had their lapband done by Dr. Bessler in New York. If you had, how long did you have to wait for your surgery? Thanks.

    New York

Congrats on your surgery! Well I have Aetna PPO in New York. I cant believe that you got your approval in one day! WOW! Yeah i had to have at least five years of history and a 6month supervision, as well have a pysch eval. What i dont understand is why is the procedure different with the insurance. I sent my pre-cert on the 5th of May and I it will probably be another 2-3 weeks before I hear anything. I am just impatient right now. I am ready!
  15. Hello everyone! I am glad to have found this website. Me and my close friend are preparing ourselves for the lap band. We have done our research and just patiently waiting for my approval from the insurance company. I have Aetna PPO. I have heard so many things about Aetna and their waiting procedures. It would be helpful if anyone can give me insight on how long do you usually wait for the precertification. My surgeon is going to be Dr. Bessler. I am just counting down the seconds, minutes, hour etc:smile2:. Your help will be greatly appreciated! p.s. Does Optifast spoil if not use? My nutritionist encouraged me to buy it in the beginning because i have alot of weight to loose. I am kind of mad at myself because i should of researched into it more and waited until i was close to pre-op. I have three unused boxes and was curious to know, will they still be good by the time i do my pre-op? Thanks again.
