How much weight have you lost?????

I was banded July 10, 2008 and have lost 45 pounds so far. Waynette
  5. Hello Shasta, I'm 56 and was banded on 7/03/08. My starting weight was 270. I've had 4 fills, yesterday was my fourth fill. I have 7cc now in a 10cc Realize band. I've lost 35 lbs. I've been exercizing alot and doing weights so I've been loosing inches and have only lost a couple of pounds in the last 4 weeks. I'm hoping with the fill yesterday I'll start loosing again soon. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and I know I'll eventually get to my goal weight.

    12 cc band...no restriction

I was banded on 7/10 and I have a 9cc band. I got my second fill week before last. They told me it generally takes 4 to 5 fills to get you where you need to be. She said some people may take even more but the majority need 4 to 5 fills. I'm calling today to schedule my next fill. Hope this helps, Waynette

    New from Dallas

Hi SkinnyDeb, I had my surgery July 10 at Baylor Plano and I did not hurt at all. I'm 56 years old. I was uncomfortable a couple of days due to gas but it was not bad at all. I went for my 2 week checkup Thursday and my Doctor released me to do anything I want to do so you should be able to play tennis. I don't even feel like I ever had surgery. Hope this helps. Waynette

    Nausea

I had my surgery July 10th and I felt the same way then one morning I woke up and have felt fine ever since. I'm sure you will be feeling better soon. If not I woud call your Doctor's office and see what they say. Waynette
  9. Hello All, I had my surgery 2 weeks ago this Thursday. I have a membership at Lifetime Fitness and was thinking about going this afternoon and doing the elipitcal and treadmill. Does anyone know if it is ok or if it is too soon? Thank you! Waynette
  10. Dr Nicholson does put everyone on a 2 week pre op diet. But it was not bad at all. It consists of 5 Slimfast shakes or Slimfast bars a day, 2 cup of non starchy vegetables and 5 oz of lean meat. I did it and I never was hungry. I had a Slimfast shake for Breakfast, a bar for a snack, shake for lunch, bar for snack, my veggies and meat for dinner and another bar for last snack. Much easier than most of the preop diets I've seen. Waynette

    Recovery Time

I had my surgery last a week ago today and was back at work Monday. I had no problems returning to work on Monday. I've had no pain other than being a little uncomfortable at times from gas. Good Luck!!! Waynette

    What does this mean???

I also have Great West and was approved for Lap Band. I was banded Thursday July 10. I had to get my MD to send them 5 years of my medical records. I also had to provide proof of a weight management for 6 months. Luckly I had been going to Weight Watchers so I gave them a copy of my bank statement showing proof of payment to WW. I also gave them a letter from Lifetime Fitness as proof that I had been on an exercise plan for 6 months. I believe that is all I gave them . I think one thing that helped me get approved was because I have a hernia that needs to be repaired and I also need to loose some weight in order to have Breast Reconstruction from breast cancer. My Breast Cancer Surgeon sent in my medical records and I was approved as medical necessity. I hope that helps. Waynette

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

Hi Beverly, I had no problem with milk products when doing my liquid pre op. I was banded Thursday July 10 and I now cannot drink milk products. I was drinking slimfast and I was getting so bloated with gas I thought something was wrong with the band. It really scared me. I called the Doctor yesterday and they told me to not drink any Protein shakes that are milk based. Now I'm back on just broth, Crystal Light, and sugar free popcicles. Please let me know if you find a good source of protein that is not milk based. Thanks, Waynette
  15. Dr Nicholson put my band in Thursday July 10th. He was recommended to me by my Breast Cancer surgeon. He was going to put my in at Baylor Plano but the girl that does his scheduling scheduled me for Friday and he was going to be gone to a seminar so mine had to be moved to Baylor Garland Surgery Center. I had a great experience! All his nurses were very friendly and they had my husband and I laughing all the way up till time for me to go into surgery. My surgery nurse held my hand in the OR until I went to sleep. Everyone was wonderful!!! I think you'll be glad Dr Nicholson is doing your surgery. Good Luck with your surgery and let me know how it goes. Waynette
