Anyone use Dr. Nicholson at Baylor Plano
wstone replied to wstone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the reply. I've only met Dr. Nicholson once and I wanted to talk to someone that had used him and see if they liked him. I'm glad to hear that you and your family liked him that makes me feel better. I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well and your doing well. Mine will be here before I know it. Thanks, Waynette -
Hi Everyone, Penny this was a good idea, sure makes it easier. A little bit about me. I'm 56, married and mother to 4 children. I live in McKinney, TX. I have been over weight since my late 30's. I've tried every diet there is and could loose weight but just couldn't keep it off. I had Breast Cancer in March 2005. I had Bi-lateral masectomy Dec. 2005. I had surgery 5 different times in 2006 trying to get reconstructed. Had 2 surgeries in 2007 and still not reconstructed because of staff infections and loosing the implants. Last visit to my breast cancer surgeon we talked about trying for reconstruction again. I found a Doctor that will a different type of reconstruction but I must loose weight in order to have that surgery. My breast cancer surgeon and I decided that the Lap Band would be the perfect solution to me being miserable with myself being over weight and me hopefully getting reconstructed. I'm very excited about being banded and the beginning of a new me. I've been on my preop since last Monday and tomorrow I go for my lab work, upper GI and nutritionist visit. My surgery is July 11th and that is my story. Waynette

wstone replied to Ezma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for the recipes. They sound wonderful. I'll have to try them after I'm banded. I'm on my preop diet right now. I'm being banded July 11. Waynette -
If you have been going to Weight Watchers you can use your booklet that they write your weight in each week or you can give them a copy of your cancelled checks. I was paying online so I just printed a copy of my bank statement and that was all they needed. Hope this helps. Waynette Being banded July 11 by Nich Nicholson at Baylor Plano

Thank you everyone for all your input. I want to be a successful bandster and a example for my Daughter. She was banded August 2007 and I can't tell she's lost anything. I know she's not following the rules and eating too much. Hopefully if I can be a good example and loose my weight it will inspire her to use her band to loose her weight. Thank you again!! I have a question, maybe some of you can help me. My surgery is July 11 and the closer it gets the more I'm freaking out about them trying to get a IV started. A little history: In Dec. 2005 I had a Bi-lateral masectomy. I had 5 surgeries in 2006 and had many high powered antibotics because of staff infections. Last year I was in the hospital 4 times between July 2nd and first of August a total of 21 days. My veins are not shot. I had a breast MRI 2 months ago and he had a heck of a time getting a IV in and they had to take blood out of my hand because they couldn't find a good vein. Two of the times I was in the hospital I went in thru the ER and they broke every vein in my hands and arm trying to get a IV started. I'm terrified that their going to have the same problem the day of my surgery. Of all the times I've been cut on and in the hospital since my breast cancer, them trying to get the IV started is what I remember being the worst. I talked to my Surgeon about the problems I've had with IV's and he looked at my neck and said they could get one in there. That also scares me!! Do you think I should try to talk to someone about this when I go for my pre op? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. The surgery does not scare me at all after all I've been thru but them digging in my arms and hands again scares me to death. Waynette

Special K makes one that you put in your bottled water. It has 30 calories and 5 grams of protein. It's called Special K2O Protein Water mix. You find it in the pharmacy department.

Hello Everyone, My surgery date is July 11. I'll start my pre op diet on June 23. July 3rd I'll have my upper GI, blood work and see the nutrionist. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm having my surgery at Baylor Plano in Plano, TX. I'm so looking foward to loosing my weight and being able to buy regular size clothes instead of plus size. Once I lose my weight I can also get breast reconstruction (breast cancer) and then I'll really feel like a whole new person. Good luck everyone!!! Waynette in Texas

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
wstone replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to the Doctor and he looked at my neck and said they could get one in my neck. I'm really freaking out at the thought of them putting it in my neck. Has anyone else had the IV put in their neck? I think I'd almost rather them put it in my foot. I know it seems like a silly thing to be concerned over but the last time I was in the hospital they broke every vein in my hands and arms trying to get a IV in. They finally got one in that hurt so bad. Of all the surgeries I've had, that sticks in my mind more than anything else. Waynette -

I'm curious about the happy pill they gave you before they put your IV in. I had breast cancer and 10 surgeries and lost of high powered antibotics and now my veins are shot. I'm being banded July 11 and the main thing I'm worrying about is them trying to get a IV in my arm. I'm wondering if they will give me something before they start digging in my arms. Thank you for sharing your story! Waynette -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
wstone replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you, I'll do that. I don't want someone trying that will end up poking me over and over. Someone even suggested having them put it in my neck, but I'm not sure about that! -

Hi All, My surgery is scheduled for July 11. I'm very excited and very nervous. I'm more nervous about having the IV put in than anything. I had Breast Cancer in 2005 and had a Bi-Lateral masetomy and 5 surgeries in 2006 trying to get reconstructed. All failed. I was also in the hospital the whole month of July last year (2 more surgeries) trying to get reconstructed. I had staff infection several times and had highh powered antibotics and my veins are destroyed. I had blood taken last week and they had to take it out of my hand because she couldn't find a vein in my arm. Needless to say, I'm afraid they'll breaking all the veins in my arms and hands like they did last year in the hospital. Anyone else have problems with veins? I'm anxious to have the surgery done and start my journey to a thinner me. I love this forum and lhave learned so much from all the posts. Waynette
