Can't tolerate protein supplements.
Sandra Nuelken replied to Firemedic69's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use Ensure Max on ice. It doesn't taste great but if I drink 2 per day I get all my protein. As I'm only 30 days out I can't eat my protein at 1/3 cup of food. Ice seems to make it taste better. I've also used vegetarian protein and that seems to be better. It is hard to get 60g of protein a day. Unfortunately I don't know of any protein pill. -
I was given anti-nausea meds from my doctor for 30 days and I've had none at all 30 days out. And no tailbone pain.

Clothing Rollercoaster
Sandra Nuelken replied to Butterfly#7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have already bought some fall stuff that I am using as an incentive. I also have a box of stuff that I "grew out of" I don't work so I don't need much. I'm just waiting to get rid of the stuff I have now. Unfortunately, I bought baggy stuff that still fits. -
We were all excited, then nervous as the day approached. I've had a few days of regret during the stall, but for the most part, I've enjoyed the journey and weight loss. I'm only one month out and already have some small victories, knees hurt less, both feet fit on the scale, and I can cross my legs when I sit. Oh, my jeans are giving a sigh of relief as I was putting way too much in that small space. I'm just enjoying the journey and look forward to finding the new me.

The dreaded Weight loss Stall
Sandra Nuelken replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just went through the 3-week stall and wondered when the next one would happen. Gosh, mine only lasted about 4 days and drove me nuts now you're telling me a one or two week stall is coming up. I will have to stop getting on the scale daily. It just sits there each morning saying step on me. Thanks for the heads up, and I will try to be patient on the long journey ahead. -
Where are my water guzzlers?
Sandra Nuelken replied to Vance-666's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
30 days out and still a sipper. I was never a chugger as it would cause a belch and that would be embarrassing. Just a constant sipper of caffeine-free and sugar-free tea with a splash of peach protein water. -
I finally tried the chewable vitamins for Bariatric patients and hate them. Is there some vitamin I can take once a day instead of 4 times a day? Tiny swallowable is my preference. Do I really have to take those big nasty pills?

Gaining!!!! Feeling lost
Sandra Nuelken replied to Ryguy507's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Return to the beginning and eat protein first 70 g. then veggies. This is not a fix unless you work the program. I don't remember snacking being on it at all. Get a protein drink instead. You must be strong and you need to want your healthy body back. Food is not your friend it will make you sick and die. -
First Meal After Liquid Stage
Sandra Nuelken replied to Jen09's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My typical day is two protein drinks to get my 60 g. of protein and a small single serving of 4oz of cottage cheese. I've done that for about a week. Will try to replace cottage cheese with one scrambled egg. I am very cautious about upsetting my stomach. I'm not in a hurry to eat a lot or often. -
Eat protein first no more than 4 oz, veggies second you should be full and no drinking with meals or 30 min. before or after. Get a Fitbit and track everything you eat on MyFitnessPal. That includes what you cook them in. If you like chicken a Rotessori chicken packed in 4 oz packets make an easy dinner, then you just have to do the veggie. If you follow the plan you should lose.

Slipping into insanity? (Nightmare on Sleeve Street)
Sandra Nuelken replied to Vance-666's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had horrible dreams until almost the end of week 3. I just thought it was me, with less than 4 hours of sleep. Fortunately, I'm retired so my best sleep happened mid-day in my recliner. I even stopped using my c-pap machine to see if that would help but it didn't. As they say it gets better. -
Post op 8/15 newbie intro and grhelin ?
Sandra Nuelken replied to Lbtnew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh yes, and the burger commercials are the worst. The head hunger is awful about week 2 and you have a stall in weight loss week 3-4. I was really not happy that my husband could eat the first couple of weeks but once I moved to soft foods I don't feel like throwing his food out the window. The Outlast no sugar added pop cycles were my savior. I'm almost done with week 3 and have 2 more weeks of soft foods only. -
Without knowing if I like the vitamins or if they are too large for me to take, I think spending that much on a year's supply is out of the question.

Hi everyone! Newbie here...
Sandra Nuelken replied to LizzieMmmkay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We all did. Take it one day at a time Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Starting my third week just how long does this stall last. It is driving me nuts as I've lost nothing the last 4 days. I get to start on soft foods and after debating I decided to start with cottage cheese as so many had problems with eggs. I'm so enjoying chewing I missed it so much. I made it through the 3 weeks of liquids!

Nothing in, nothing out. Your body needs most of what you take in.

Great work! You need to be awfully proud of yourself.

Venting about my husband
Sandra Nuelken replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You need to keep your priority right now your health. If marriage counseling is out of the question, just focus on your health, weight loss, and anything that will give you a strong base to make your life goals. I admire your goals to protect animals, but may I suggest that maybe you could volunteer at a no-kill shelter. They need volunteers to care for the animals. You need to make peace at home before bringing in new responsibilities. Get healthy, find good support in that goal, then once you have your power then you can make a decision as to what to do. I went back to school with the goal to make myself independent and able to support myself. I really think you need to focus on your health now and your power now. If your husband chooses to act the jerk, ignore him and make yourself a stronger woman. -
Are you walking to get the gas out? I had my July 30 and had no pain or took pain meds at all.

Newbie prepping for surgery
Sandra Nuelken replied to JediMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought a scale so I would really know what size portion I was eating. I put my 4 oz of meat and a cup of veggies on the plate and that was it. Then protein drinks twice a day. -
Today is my 1 year Surgiversary!![emoji1327]♀️
Sandra Nuelken replied to LaNueva_Janie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You look amazing!!! You have so much to be proud about, all that hard work. -
You need to mix up what you eat and do. Small walking will help with strength and energy. It is so hot here I've gone walking in stores and malls. Try other foods and if salmon is so so keep on trying it. I've been told that I can eat cottage cheese applesauce, sugar-free, your body will get used to the same old stuff. Just change it up. The stuck phase will run its course.

Missing food today
Sandra Nuelken replied to Sandra Nuelken's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just never realized that the food smelled so good. I'm getting my protein I just can't wait for soft foods. Liquids are getting old. Not much difference between clear or full, just nothing to chew. Four more days and I can do this! -
Husband is grilling a big steak and I've just fixed his baked potato for him, starting my second week of full liquids. Just missing food today.
