I hope you are feeling better by now. Mine is scheduled for July 30 and I'm starting on the pre-surgical diet this weekend. I am tapering off on the weekend and going to try to follow it fully by Monday. My husband leaves town for a week and Saturday I will throw out all of my temptations. Do let us know how you are doing.

A lot of people won't ask as they are afraid that you are ill and they want to respect your privacy. If they ask I tell so they won't think I'm sick if they are friends of mine, the others I tell them I'm watching what I'm eating. My sister who had this surgery 9 years ago and has gained back some of her weight is very unsupportive. She also admitted she ate what she wanted and told me that you are supposed to eat a special way, but she wanted to eat what she wanted. I am hoping that I can be an example for my good friend who has experienced weight gain due to knees and knee surgery. She has problems with walking. I've been down this road before with the lap band and found most folks to be supportive if they are your friends. My husband and son are and that is all I really care about.

Great news! Gives me hope.

I am going to start eating clean Saturday. My husband has taken me out to get my favorite foods, BLT, Shrimp and grits, and Collards. Now I'm going to stop Saturday when my husband leaves town. I'm going to slowly go down to this pre-surgery diet. I've cut out sweet tea, just plain now, and sugars. Saturday will be carbs and sugars. Good luck with your diet!

Getting Sleeve Done in Two Weeks

I bought popcycle molds and I'm going to make protein shake fudge cycles and protein water popcycles. -
Have a good rest and walk walk walk, you will feel better after the gas is out and it only has one way out.

I hope your approval comes quickly. My doctor wouldn't give me a date until he had approval. Good luck and keep in touch!

I needed 2 medical issues for insurance, all I had was weight. Finally, I decided to do a sleep study because my husband said I was snoring again, was diagnosed with apnea I was so excited. Then I got the clearance that I wanted. I'm so excited. I had the Lap-band for 9 years it started failing about 2 years ago and I had it removed last year. My doctor said I'd have to self pay as I didn't have any medical issues other than my weight. I was so depressed until I decided to see if I could be diagnosed with apnea and I was, then 6 months later I'm on the road to good health again.

I am a week from the pre-surgery diet and surgery is July 30. Getting excited and looking forward to my knees not hurting. Will this hurt more than a hysterectomy does anyone know. I've heard several say that they don't feel better until the 4 th day.

Getting Sleeve Done in Two Weeks
Sandra Nuelken replied to Matthew2045's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We are almost sleeve twins, my surgery is July 30. I'm so excited! I start my diet this weekend. My doctor said protein drinks except for one tiny meal and he gave a list of what I can eat. I will probably stick with cottage cheese. Good luck! -

My surgery is July 30, I'm so happy that you all are feeling better in about a week. I can handle a week. I was told when I had the lap band to slowly sip the drinks. Protein drink should take about 30 minutes. I am feeling good about this! Hope you all keep up the great work. -

Eat or drink slowly. I learned this with the lap band. Allow your stomach to send the full message which takes 15-20 minutes. Sip slowly. Then keep full with water water water. I'm not sure how quickly you are drinking but my morning protein drink takes me about 30 minutes or more. I have to remind myself to put it down do something then come back to it. -
I start mine next Sunday. My husband will be out of town for a week so I should be able to handle it. Cutting back now.

Had mine put in 2009 and joined DFW Bandsters, they were a great group. I had mine removed last year it was no longer working and tubing was causing heart issues. Will have a sleeve the end of this month.

Good luck with your liquid diet. I start mine this weekend I have liquid meals for 2 and a "smart small meal" once. I'm working on my mind to get ready for it. My surgery is on the 30th. Good luck to you and keep us updated!

You are doing great! I start the pre-surgery meal plan this weekend. I'm trying to be patient as I got approved earlier than expected. My surgery date is July 30. Hang in there! You will be done with this about the time I start.

I am so sorry to hear about your insurance issues. That just sucks. It took me a long time for approval as had to have one other condition other than the weight, and I had nothing. I hope things turn around for you.

Every doctor is different and they will give you the diet to follow. Mine is protein drinks several times a day and one low cal, no fat sensible meal. They gave me a chart to pick from. No sugar, alcohol or my passion ice cream. I can do this as my husband will be out of town the first week and by the second week, I should be in the pre-surgery mindset.

My surgery is on July 30. I had the lap band 9 years ago so I'm familiar with what to expect, but this will be far invasive. I am excited, scared, but will take this one day at a time, then come surgery I have faith and confidence in my doctor. He did the band, band removal, so we have history.

Good luck and keep us updated. I start my restricted diet next weekend and have a pool party two days later. I will and can do it. I'm starting now thinking of food as not my friend. Good luck!!

Great work!

You have our support. I'm July 30. I have a few foods lined up to eat before the pre-surgery diet. My husband thinks I'm nuts as I want collards, hot dog, hamburger, and my favorite salad. Oh, shrimp and grits too. That's it. Nothing crazy. That should take all of next week. I'm having peach cobbler Saturday then next week I start my pre-surgery eating One healthy meal a day off of their sheet and protein drinks. Good luck to you, if you get worried we are here to support you.
