I was banded July 9th too and I have a list of things I am going through. Is anyone else going through the same things? 1. Im feeling depressed - This morning I took my mom to the train station for her to go back home to NJ. Then I came home and then Im sad as hell and keep crying for nothing. Is it my hormones? 2. Dreams- right after surgery when I got to my room. I took a nap and then I started having dreams about food I knew I couldn't have like cheeseburgers, pizza, fried chicken. The mind is a powerful thing. 3. A yeast infection - I was hooked up to Ciprofloxin the whole time I was in the hospital. And now this morning, I start noticing an itchy feeling down there. I have a refill for diflucin but, I'm not sure if it will interact with other meds I take, so I'm going to call Dr. in the morning. 4. Lump in Throat - 4 days later and I wake up with a sore lump in the top of the back of my throat. Is this morning. 5. Work - Tomorrow is Monday and I suppose to go back to work. But I don't feel comfortable enough to go. My body just dont feel right after surgery. I am moving even slower than before. I have a sit down job though. I was thinking maybe I should go in for a few hours. Or just work from home for the next 2 days. Also, my sleep schedule is off. Ive been doing most of my sleeping during the day time. 4. C-pap - I use the c-pap about 2 hours a night. I suppose to use it the whole night. I think my setting are too high for me. It's hard for me to get on the same breathing track as the machine. And then once I get sleep I wake up in 2 hours sweating and I take it off. 5. Driving - One trip to the store and not too far away is enough to tire one out after surgery. And you will need to take a pillow every time you get in the car. 6. Diahrrea - It seems like every time I drink something besides Water, I have to go to the bathroom #2. When will this stop? I hope I didn't scare you or anything with my update. Hang in There!

Hello I am 28 year old single mom with a 3 year old son. I'm located in Alexandria, VA about 20 mins from Washington, DC. I work for the Federal Government. My weight has been up and down for the last 10 years. Eight years ago I was able to take phentermine and lose 95 pounds and keep it off for 3 years. Then I got pregnant with my son and then gained 85 pounds back. Last year I had tried to go back on the phentermine and dropped about 20 pounds and then gained about 50 pounds back which brought me to 235lbs on a 5 foot frame. Back in October 2007 I started looking into the WLS and search for a surgeon. I asked my primary care dr if he knew any good WLS dr and he had pointed in the right direction to Dr. Halmi in Woodridge. It took me about three months to get an approval with Cigna PPO. 1st they denied me and then 30 days later I recieved an approval letter. After I got the approval I had to go through 2 months of testing and then I was able to get a surgery date. Today makes me 4 days post op and I feel very uncomfortable with my body and praying this was a good decsion after all. Good Luck to all the July Buttfliers!

How many incisions do you have?
lalaredd replied to zeama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 5 incisions and my port is in the middle right under my breast bone. I have posted pics in my albulm for those who want to see. Today I took off 3 of the bandages and left the port one and lower one on. Now that I have taken them off, I wish I should have left them on cause they are itching like hell. And I dont see the dr. until 7/18th. -

Warning:Poop Question!
lalaredd replied to AppleBottom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to try Smooth Move Herbal tea. It's about $5.00 a box. Drink .5 cup before bed time and when you wake up in the morning your bowels will move. I used it a couple of times before surgery to clean out my intestines and it really works. Good Luck -

Does anyone have a shopping list of items I will need at home when I return from the hospital?

$300.00 is not bad because I had to pay $700.00 for my program fee & nutrition fees on top of a $250.00 consultation fee because my insurance company does not cover consultations and evaluations fees. I have paid a total of $950.00 plus a $40.00 specialist fee each time I see the dr. My dr. office gave me the option of breaking the payments up, but all the fees had to be paid before my surgery date.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Cigna gave me the run around the block.

I would like to know if you really follow the 30/30 rule. Do you really have to not drink anything 30 mins before and 30 mins after meals?

What are you looking forward to doing?
lalaredd replied to Lanakila's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Wearing a skirt with legs rubbing 2. Tucking my shirt in my pants 3. Wearing a swimsuit with out the cover up 4. Going to the gym and being worried about the men looking 5. Getting back into single digit sizes 6. Crossing my legs 7. Being able to jog at least 1 mile -

I am on the preop diet right now. My Dr. said I didnt need to do the pre op diet. But I have decided to do it, to see if I can handle less food. So far I have lost 5 pounds in 3 days. I've been eating 2 EAS Advant low carb drink a day (1 for breakfast and 1 for dinner), along with 1 low calorie salad, or any type of baked meat with steamed green veggies (lunch). Only drinking water or crystal light. I hope this helps.
