  1. Ave got a 14cc band as well, and initially had 6 mls, it was ok bt no real restriction. I then had 1 ml three mnths after. still no change. I recently had another 5 mls making it 12 mls in a 14cc band as I wasnt losing any weight, bt it was far too tight, I cldnt even get water down. The doc then took 1.5 out, now I have bout 10.5, pretty restricted. I noticed I can eat very little quantity, and I have to eat really slowly. I cant really burp at the moment, for some reason so i have to release the gas the other way(u knw wat mean) Bt i noticed I have begun to lose weight.
  2. i burp and fart way more than I should(scuse for the f) Bt seriously sometimes its embarressing as I have to stifle it......
  3. Am so happy I had this band, I tell my patner " i love this band more than I love him" for some reason its true. I really love my band, I cant imagine losing it.
  4. I had my op with the WGA as well, and my experience was nt bad at all, guess I didnt expect much from them anyway. Like perfect ten, i was told that only the op wld be dne in Birmingham and the follow ups in London. Only for me to get a call saying my 1st app wld be in birmingham, i straight out said I wld nt mae all the way back there, as that is nt wat they offered. They resecluded and found somewhere in Kent, where i had my 1st fill ysterday., so am hopin to lose more hopefully. am sry u had a bad experience, maybe u expected so much from them, either which ways talk to ur gp as well, as mine is very interested in my op, and said he can arrange for me to have fills on the nhs.

    Help! Bad Breath

U can buy peppermints, that is wat i substituted my gums for Pls do not chew gum, it may stretch ur pouch.
  7. I have a booklet that my doctor gave me and it says what should be avoided for life post operative. Fizzy drink/ carbonated drinks and chewing of gum, wat i did was swap gum with mints. Maybe u can find that a bit helpful. Take care and good luck
  8. Hi Jana, I dont want to act like a know it all or something. Jus wondering wat ur doctor's advice was? Chewing gum is a nono with the band.As a matter of fact, it is one of the things u cant eat forever with the band, according to my doctor. chewing gum is like chewing air and it may stretch the pouch so I wld advice that u shld really be careful n always ask ur doctor before u eat things ure unsure of. Going thru the surgery was painful enuf, dnt think anyone shld have to go thru a revision because they didnt do something rite. Just an advise

    Hospital Group ?

Hi, I am so sad to hear pple having probs with the THG. I read it in the news. I just had my surgery with them via WGA. I paid 5000 with one fill. I wld have bn very angry too if I paid 8000 and had to struggle.I think my surgeon already put some fills for me, as I already have a restriction, just ned one or two more to reach my spot. I just did it knowing that I didnt pay for after care, and if I went abroad it will eventually be the same.

    'why go abroad'???

I also had my surgery with WGA, and I ave had a terrific experience with them.I had my surgery at Bromsgrove and had a fantastic care, the nurses were very helpful and caring. Yes u get a room to urself, and you get very good care. I call anytime when I ave a problem. The nurses say I can call as much as I want even when I ave bn discharged from them, as most of them are WLS patients themselves so they understand. I read bout the bad press, bt sincerely, I avent had a single prob with them and i hpe I dnt. My surgeon was Shamsil El Hasani. I get my first fill on the 25th of June in kent

    Pulling a Star Jones...?

Is it odd that I don't won't people to know I want to get the Lap Band surgery and this includes family. I think I'm embarrassed about the whole notion of not being able to loose the weight on my own. Has anyone felt this way? Actually, I am 3 wks post op. I only told my partner, we live 2gether, and I had to tell him. I also told my best friend, bt after I had the op, cos she is a scary cat. so I decided to do it be4 i Tell her. I cannot face telling anyother person even my family. May be later on in future.
  18. :thumbup:Hi Ellen, I am 24, and just had the band myself. I ave bn contemplating it since 2 yrs ago. I was worried that I was too young to have it dne, bt u know wat am more than happy that I did it.its the beginning of a new life, and there is no time than now to have it.
  19. I am already banded, bt my pre- op diet was a milk only diet. Where I can drink all milk coffe, yougurt, milk and stuff like that. I thot i wld go crazy so I foned my doctor and tld him I was goin crazy, so he tld me to do a calorie counted diet of 1000cals a day.
  20. For me, I was told to keep the area of my stitches dry. I am 8 days post op, and I am almost back to normal. I do everything normal. I remember my nurse advising me to take pain meds even when i dont feel pain. I take it one a day usually at night, even wen i feel no pain at all. I have been walking alot, and i have even started to drive. I guess age matters as well, am quite young. My advise is to keep the area dry so that it can heal properly and keep on taking ur meds( painkillers at least once a day, vitamins and minerals), and sleep and rest more. Am now on the both liquid and mushy stage, depending on how i feel.
  21. By the third day I was starving like crazy. I kept on calling the nurse for her to reassure me. I couldnt do the milk diet for the pre-op, i did the 1000 calories counted diet instead, I cldnt bear the whole drinking milk and yougurt thing. Guess its different for everybody
