It is a lengthy process but well worth it. You will be overrun with information. I think they want to make sure people are serious before giving the okay. It took me 5 months to get through the whole process and finally have surgery. Most of the time came from the insurance company doing their part. I had surgery a month ago and would do it again in a minute. I had surgery at Georgetown KY and they have wonderful staff there. Very thorough. Alot of information. Just a super experience. I have Cigna and yes it is a long process. Mine pays 90% I pay the other 10%. The surgery itself is costing me 1200.00 there is $500 you pay immediately out of pocket because they know the insurance won't cover it. It will end up costing me around 2000.00 out of pocket. If you haven't used up your hsa and deductable they will factor in as well. The Georgetown bariatric facility has a contract with Cigna so there are discounts.

I had Dr Weiss with Dr Oldham as back up they are both great doctors and the facility is fantastic. Wonderful bunch of people. I had lap band a month ago and I would do it again in a minute. When you get through the classes that are manditory you will be swamped with knoledge. I was so impressed with their thoroughness.

Hi, My name is Patty and I had the lapband surgery 1 month ago at Georgetown. The staff is wonderful. They explain everything several times there are some classes you have to take there at their facility. Very thorough. I I had a great experience. I am down 22 pounds in 5 weeks. Feeling Great. I would do it again in a second and I would do it there. My doctor was Weiss. There are two doctors there and they work together on the operations. One take on the first roll and the other backs him up. Again I can't stress enough how thorough they are. Several of the nurses have had one or the other of the surgeries and tell you exactly what to expect. So far they have been right on.
