I was Nov. 6th too! How are you doing so far?

Hey! So I was worried about the same thing. The day of

Hey @november11 you haven't updated in a while, are you doing ok?

@Unclechaz Today my stomach feels exactly like I'm having labor pains. I swear it spasms or has contractions when I swallow even a tiny bit too much. Sorry if I repeat myself, I'm taking my pain meds! I see a lot of people say they don't need them but I do for now.

There are so many ointments etc to prevent scars, and I've seen a lot of youtube vids of people saying they're a year out and no scars at all! I know anesthesia can make you emotional for a few days even, Try to ride it out knowing your body is just working hard healing. I wasn't able to do anything but protein water all day today, but I did get a good amount in. Tiny sips non-stop allllll day long lol. If you need anything, support etc don't forget to come here too! ❤️

Hey @MeredithElaine how are you today? We're 2 days out and I'm feeling worse today than yesterday. Its all manageable but I'm having a harder time getting the water down. It makes a gurgling noise and wants to come back up lol. I've got 43 oz. liquid and 60g protein in today. Drinking the Protein20 water so I get both at the same time.

That's so strange! I have the outer thigh numbness thing too! My right outer thigh. I googled it and my family Dr. agreed that it's like a nerve is being pinched and the best solution.... is weight loss of course.

Hey everyone! I just got home. Surgery was yesterday morning 7:30am. I'm still pretty doped up right now but I wanted to fill you in on my experience. (sorry if it's long) Everyone at the hospital was wonderful and they were like a machine getting ready for surgery (at 5:30am when I checked in). Anesthesia people couldn't have been nicer but I was ready to rip my IV out and run lol. I ended up having a really bad hiatal hernia that the Surgeon repaired while she was in there. Surgery took almost 3 hours because of that. When I woke up in recovery I was so so so so uncomfortable. It's a feeling I can't even describe, it was just awful. I was in recovery for about 2 hours but thankfully I was only awake for a really short time. When I got to the room the Surgeon was there explaining the procedure and saying I did great with the liquid diet because my liver was really small lol. She asked me if I wanted to see the pictures! I couldn't look right then. I slept on and off the rest of Wednesday and had great pain meds. Only 1 time did the nurse ask me to walk and we did one lap. This is the crazy part - I had zero gas pain or feeling of gas at all! Nothing. Not sure what I was feeling in the recovery room, that may have been gas. My Surgeon does the first leak test while she's still in you so as soon as I was in my room I was allowed the little cups of water! Oddly they were really easy to get down. Once in a while I would get a little gurgling and slowed back down. This morning I had another leak test. They kept warning me the drink was awful but I thought it was fine. Not nasty at all. Tasted a bit like malox or mylanta. I passed the leak test and they brought me a big bowl of broth and a thing of jello for breakfast and lunch. I almost finished the jello and had a few sips of the broth. My surgeon said her goal for me to go home was for me to pee and I did, a lot. I had the IV fluids running in me on top of what I was drinking so I needed to go. My incisions are really small and the only one that bothers me is the one they pulled the stomach through. I'm sipping, walking and using the breathing tool. I actually feel great. I hope I don't have a repeat of what @kia h went through where she felt great and then day 3 was rough. Sorry to ramble on, I just wanted to give you what I could remember while its fresh in my oxycodone filled mind. Any word from my surgery twin @MeredithElaine? How about the ones that went in today? @MyNextSeason or @Ivy Rose were going in today. Praying they are all doing well!

Good morning everyone! This time tomorrow I will be coming out of surgery! I promise to give you lots of details tomorrow. I know I wait to read everyone's posts right out of surgery. Thanks @Unclechaz for your update. I'm on day 7 of the pre op liquid diet. Everyone said after day 3 it would get easier and I would have a strange mystical energy. That sounded a little nutty but it has been so true. I'm not even hungry at all. I'm really grateful, even if it was just to shrink my liver it has got me used to being ok without food. Oh, and I've lost 10 lbs! (I had bounced back up to 300 and I'm 290 this morning). I'm tied for super excited and freaking out. I have worked almost 11 months for this. I quit smoking after 30 years for this. I'm expecting the first week buyer's remorse. I'm prepared to sip and walk like it's my job. I hope everyone who went in this month so far is doing great and will give us happy updates soon! Prayers for us all for new beginnings!

Hey all! @november11 thanks for adding me to the calendar! @MeredithElaine you're my 6th buddy! I was a smoker too but I'm old so I smoked for 30 years! I quit 7 months ago. Surgeon said I had to be off nicotine for 3 months to even be considered for surgery so I did it (with Chantix help). I'm the last one who ever thought I would be able to quit and I think that's as big a win as getting the surgery! I'm on day 1 of 7 of my pre op all liquid diet. I'm very grumpy is all I can say. I'm going to bed now and try to sleep this week away. My best friend is my support person but I haven't really told anyone else. I really needed to see I'm not alone so I'm so glad to be here!

Hello! My surgery (sleeve) is Nov. 6th. I start 1 week all liquid pre op diet tomorrow. It has been a long year preparing for this and I could not be more excited (and scared). I want to be able to play with my 1 year old grand babies and chase them without being sore the whole next day! I want to be able to go to the BEACH again! And SWIM without being embarrassed! I want to put me/my health first again. My Surgeon required no smoking at all for 3 months prior to surgery so I quit!! After 30 years! That's how badly I want this. I never ever thought I could quit smoking, that is as huge as the surgery itself! I'm looking forward to being on here and lifting each other up as we go through this together 🙂 I'm a Realtor so a lot of what I do is from home. Hopefully I can get still get a lot done from home while recuperating. (My picture is from 5 years ago, the last time I remember feeling ok with myself)
