July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op

Labor Day weekend wasn't good for me. I feel like I ate terrible. I had 1/4 a hamburger sirloin patty, half a braut, baked beans, some veggies. Some spicy chips. I did eat a little cheesecake they were sampler size pieces and had 14g of sugar which I've been told by my NT to stay under 5g of sugar. I was kinda disappointed in myself. I normally don't crave cakes, pies, sweets much, but we hosted labor day get together and my in laws brought it and left it here. Ugh! I havent had sugar in a loooooooong time. But today I ate normal I don't plan on making it a habit. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

He might mean carbs like bread & pasta to wait 6months. Refried beans have a ton of carbs. Protein shakes include carbs too, but they are good carbs unlike breads and pastas. To up my carb intake i am eating refried beans since they have a lot of carbs. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

If you're not getting enough carbs you'll get the dizzy woozy feeling. Its like if you don't get enough protein your body holds on to fat. If you don't get enough carbs your body holds on to fat. Its a lose lose. So make sure you're getting enough carbs because they are what gives your body energy to burn fat. Nobody talked to me about carbs so i was doing everything super low carbs and I was having those dizzy spells to i would get up to walk then take a few steps and get so dizzy i needed to sit down again. Carbs are just too low. Now that I've upped them the past 4 days I havent got the dizzy feeling anymore. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I think you're on track to losing. I think when most of us say we've lost 29-30lbs we are including our 2wk pre op diet. But since my actual surgery date I've lost 20lbs. 3wk stall is a bummer I remember mentioning it to you and try not to get so hard on yourself when it hits. I know its easier said then done because i even do it to myself somedays. lol Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

My doctor is the opposite of yours. He likes to start you on solids fast he said some people take to long to progress so he likes you to if you can tolerate it. Which is good for me because I am always hungry. Which is good and bad. Good because I am eating 5-6meals like I'm suppose to, but bad cause I feel like I'm always starving lol. I'm getting about 700 calories a day. He said he wants me to get atleast 900-1000 a day. Which even with me eating 5-6 meals i don't get there. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I am still in a stall. I keep thinking I'm breaking out of it, but nope it's been almost 3wks of a stall. In the past 3wks Ive lost 3lbs. It sucks so bad. I am meeting my protein goal, but not meeting water goal. I seen my doc on Friday and he told me to progress into anything I wanted to eat as long as I could tolerate it. I've been eating chicken, tilapia, salmon, tuna, crab, shrimp. I haven't had red meats yet, but he gave the the ok for it. Ive been weighing out 3oz of all of the above. I need to up my carb intake thats why I've been a raging ****** lol. I asked him how many carbs should i be doing. He said anywhere from 15-30carbs a meal at 5-6meals a day so that should be like 75-180 carbs in a day. Well ive been getting 15-30carbs total for A DAY. He was like whoa yes i can see how that would effect you and your attitude and your lack of energy. So I have been trying to up my carb intake plus protein I've read that gets you out of the stall. But since i am not losing weight i did retake my measurements I measured myself from the start of the bariatric process when i was getting all my testing done and I have lost 27inches total. Biggest loss was my waist of 8inches. I was pretty happy about that. So we will see how these next few weeks go. My doc said don't worry too much about weightloss right now. I'll lose no matter what I eat, but if I'm not losing more weight by month 3 then there is a problem and we will asses. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Today marks 4wks for me. I have my 4wk check up this Friday. I am able to eat up to 3.5oz sometimes less each meal. I'm getting in around 600 calories a day and meeting my protein goals and almost meeting my water goals daily. I have been very bad with my vitamins though. I keep forgetting to take them, but I am gonna set an alarm to remind me because i definitely need the reminder. I'm down 21lbs since surgery for a total of 29lbs. The 3wk stall really got me for a long time. I think i finally broke out of it. Thank goodness. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

No bake potatoes, no chili... I'm sure i could of got a burger and take the buns off, but I don't know how they doctor up their meat. So I just decided not to get anything. Normally I would eat before we left with some time to see if it messes up my stomach to where i gotta run to the bathroom right away. I hate it. I can't eat while out I feel like I have IBS or something. Even protein bars or protein does it to me. I'm gonna talk to my doctor about it. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Getting new tires put on our car and walked to the McDonald's close to the car shop so the kids could play and eat. Everyone is eating, but me. Definitely takes some willpower. I'm hungry too! [emoji37] Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Anyone else suffering from mood swings? I am getting super annoyed really easy. I just want to be left alone and when someone comes and bothers me (kids or hubby) I get really annoyed. I don't know why and I'm normally not that way. My husband noticed it and so did I. It seemed to have started this passed Saturday. I was wondering if maybe I'm gonna start my period... I just don't know (I have PCOS so my periods are wonky and come when they want to come normally months apart). Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

You'll lose no matter what. You're only getting in like 300 calories. When i moved to purees my calories went to 400-500 calories. I was still losing, but be warned there normally is a week 3 stall so don't think its your purees thats stopping you. Your body is just adjusting. I just got out of a stall it was week 2 maybe 2-7 I stalled. I finally dropped another pound last night. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I felt just like you with the too sweet everything and I made the mistake of adding more protein to the broth and yuck! I couldn't do broth after that. Luckily before I left the hospital my surgeon told me to start puree stage the following week. I was like oookay? Since all the materials say you're on liquids the first 2wks after surgery. Then I went in for my 2wk visit and my surgeon was out so that doctor was like how is the liquids going? I said I was told by my surgeon to start purees after week one. He was like okay that's fine your surgeon does like to progress his patients faster. I was like feeeeeeew! I thought i was gonna get chastise for it lol. But I'm so glad I got to start purees because I was gonna hurl with another day of nothing but sweets! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I keep meaning to tell yall! These are DELICIOUS! I got them from target and I was impressed by the taste. Normally protein bars taste like protein and gritty. Not really sure what Birthday cake is suppose to taste like but they remind me of girl scout Samoas because its a coconut taste (I love coconut) to them. They are super soft! Seriously! I feel like I'm eating a cookie/dessert. 20g Protein and 1g sugar... cant get any better then that! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

What does pouch fullness feel like? It hurts... its like a pain just below between your ribs where your stomach sits. Its painful you'd know if you got it cause its like ouch!! ok I don't wanna swallow anymore food. I asked my doc about it and he said that's exactly what it is that I am at pouch capacity -

I'm 3wks out and can eat this whole package, but its only 2.6oz of Tuna. I can eat between 2.5-3oz of food at a time. It satisfies my hungry, but it doesn't leave me feeling full. There is a difference between the full feeling we use to have and the full pouch pain that tells you to stop you're at max capacity. I try to eat until satisfied and not the pouch pain that tells me to stop. I'm now eating between 500-600 calories that includes protein shakes and protein bars as snacks. I didn't have any nausea, but in the hospital they put a patch for nausea behind my ear and gave me additional nausea meds and told me to take some when I got home. I did the first two days, but felt fine so I didn't take them. I'm 3wks out and still no nausea. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

I looked them up because I'm dying for orange sherbet, but can't find any with low sugars. I see those creamsicle have 12g sugar. My NUT said to stay under 5g unless its natural sugars in fruits. So that leads me to wonder what others NUT told them to stay under and if its drastically different then mine. Its hard finding stuff under 5g of sugar. My friend who is a surgical tech said the burning and tugging by your ribs is because the muscle is thicker there so that's why it hurts more with a burning sensation. I've never heard anyone having their stomach stapled to their ribs. Though... Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Geesh the difference of 25lbs and bloat down. I was 261lbs in the first pic and 236lbs in the latest pic. I still have a loooooong way to go, but its crazy how much its gone down. I'm in a stall right now. Hope I start losing again soon. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I was sleeved a day after you and 1000 calories does seem like a lot to me this soon. I'm probably hitting almost 500 calories I'm usually in the high 400's. But it could just be my clinic's standard. In the weightloss faze they want you to stick to 600-800 calories a day when you start soft/regular foods. I would eat until you're satisfied not full. So eat until you're like ok I dont have that starving feeling anymore. I too am hungry all the time I would say every 2-3hrs. I started out with 2oz of food and this week moved myself up to 2.5-3oz of food. Just be cautious as you're still healing and leaks scare me lol! I would talk to your nutritionist for sure and make sure your hunger is actual hungry and not head hunger. Cause i definitely suffer from head hunger and I definitely want to eat more, but my stomach is like "Hoooldddd up sister, this ain't gonna happen" lol. My friend (she a surgerical tech) just told me about this guy that came in and he had to have emergency surgery because he busted through his staples by eating a whole pizza after his surgery. I'm gonna ask my surgeon what he thinks about this. 100% guarantee he's not gonna agree with it lol. I'm going to the gym, but I'm only walking on the treadmill for a mile and then elliptical for a mile. I burn around 300 calories then when I come home drink a protein shake which is 160 calories added back so my calories for the day probably amounts to 360 calories. I think doing the small maintenance now will help you condition your body and build stamina so when you're able to consume more calories you'll be able to hit the gym hard and do actual work. I would be leery to follow this doctors advice when some of it goes against medical research I think consulting with your personal doctor would be best since one size doesn't fit all. I am the same way. I can drink a whole protein shake without stopping. Also I don't get the full feeling when I'm eating my purees. My doc told me to eat until i feel satisfied not full. From day 2 after post op i get the im starving sensation when I'm hungry. Ill eat my purees until that goes away. I dont feel full, but i dont have the nagging starving pain anymore. Its usually about two ounces of puree. With protein shakes I drink half which they are 11oz so about 5oz then i stop for 20-30mins then drink the rest. I feel like i didnt get the operation since i don't feel full and i can drink a lot. But from what ive read its kinda a good thing. Since I'll actually want to eat and drink unlike the people who arent hungry, but feel like their forcing themselves to eat. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
