    Embrace the Stall

Yep these stalls are doing a number on me too emotionally. I have given my scale to my room mate to hide and give to me once a week. I am in my second stall for 3 weeks. I just finished my second month and only lost 5 pounds. I am following my Dr's program and exercising . I did schedule a visit to the Psych for Wed to see if she can help me deal better with the emotional aspects of these stalls so I don't get so upset when I see no loss.
  2. Proudgrammy as I read the title I had no idea it was you, But I said to myself of my gosh how could anyone eat a jar of Peanut Butter and WHY? You got me!! Yes Jamie that bagel could have been an early April Fool's. I suppose there will be many today. Not me!

    Wellbutrin?

I took it many years ago and after a few months it diminished my sex drive and dried me up so bad I went off of it. I had to then go on Premarin to get myself back to a normal sex drive.
  4. HURRAY so glad to have read the diuretic is working and 20 of those 30 are now gone. Glad to hear you got potassium also. I know diuretics cause me horrible leg cramps and I would hate for you to have them on top of everything else happening with you. I hope this Thursday evening you are getting even more relief and returning to being as good as before all this started.
  5. I have been without a computer at home for the last 6 days. I have only been able to use my office computer on the 2 days I work and only for a quick few minutes. I knew you were having kidney stones problems but had no idea you had gained over 30 pounds in 7 days. I am only on page 4 of this thread so I don't know yet what has happened. However I am reading that several people have suggested you go to the ER and I tend t o agree there is something seriously wrong ad hope you did get to the ER. If they still haven't found out what is wrong I hope and pray that they do soon before there is even more of a weight gain. I wonder if in your walks something may have bitten you and you are having a reaction from it? Try a recall if anything happened during those walks. You never know! Here I am discouraged and upset over a 3 pound gain and you have gained ten times that amount. I truly feel for you my friend as 90 pounds gone in 4 months was a fantastic amount to lose and I was so happy when you had gained back your mobility to walk again. This is not anything that you do so please do not look at it that way. Once they find out what is wrong I know that weight will come off very quickly. Hang in there and keep positive. Get well!
  6. How the F*** can you gain 3 pounds when eating under 700 calories a day? I sure as heck don't know but I am getting more discouraged as each days passes. I was off the scale for a week and gained 3 pounds. Am so pissed and beginning to regret what the heck I did to my body.

My surgeon had me at 600 calories. When I last went in he told me I could now start eating between 700-800 calories. Since I last went in I have not lost any weight. It gets discouraging. I have one of those scales that tells what % fat I have and I have noticed that this number has been going down and so have my inches. I guess since I am exercising I am gaining muscle...but sure wish the weight would also drop :(

I am glad that you called another dietician. 41 gram does seem low. I was told we needed a minimum of 65-90 grams a day.

Have you heard back from the bariatric dietitian? I know this will probably sound bad, but have you tried experimenting with your diet a bit? My dietitian gave me an AWFUL plan and I never lost on it. I kinda came up with my own by monitoring my weight and my intake to see if it would make a difference.

    The journey begins

Yes I too noticed very few start with the initial consultation date. However my blog dates back to 2008 when I first got Medicare and tried to get the lapband. If your interested in my journey to walk again here is my blog. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blog/1683-welcome-to-my-journey-toward-being-able-to-walk-again/?st=10 Please leave a comment at the last posting if you read it. 10. Very discouraged as it has been 18 days since my last posting and I haven't lost a single pound. I guess I am in my 2nd stall since weight loss surgery. I like to see the scale go down, however I have been trying to focus on Non-Scale Victories. About the only things that I see changing are 1. this week I finally am able to eat without that horrible pain I was having. 2. my overall body measurements, have decreased which is resulting in my clothing fitting better but still not in the next size down. 3. my ability to bike a farther distance in less time. 4. am still trying to hit the 60 grams of protein an eat no true carbs. Over the last 18 days I have hit the 60 gram goal only 5 times of which 3 days this week were 60 or over. So I finally think it is happening. I haven't had a single true carb you know like bread, pasta etc. 5. I have no hunger but know I have to eat. I am still not that great with establishing an eating routine but I am getting better. I only work 2 days a week and when not working I have a totally different eating and exercise schedule. 6. I am hitting the mark every day and having no problems with drinking my water. So overall I am seeing changes and will continue to work on them all. I hope this 3rd month will show better results than the 6 pounds I lost in month 2. I see the Dr again on April 20th and hope to see at least 10 pounds down this 3rd month. Hope whom ever is reading this blog is doing well. Please feel free to let me know your following my progress towards getting healthier and being able to walk again without mobility devices. If you want to be friends feel free to send an invite.
  11. KindaFamiliar was correct in what he said. "How you feel after losing that amount will depend on how much you have to lose all up..." Having lost 210 pounds and still having 132 pounds to go, I am finally beginning to see in pictures and Non scale Victory changes I didn't see after the first 150 pounds that I had lost on my own without the surgery. Since surgery I can now get out of the bed with out using a tow rope attached to my window frame to pull me out. I can reach places on my body I couldn't reach before. Heck I am now able to get on a tricycle and bike 4.31 miles in 44 minutes. Rvamom After you lose your weight you will have so many NON-Scale Victories you never thought you would ever have and it will feel awesome!

    Three Months Post Op Success

Inner Surfer Girl Remember I did a thread on My Dr saying my protein target should be 41 too. I wonder if this is a new trend for 2016? Jupiter in Virgo Nice to see I am not alone. However due to a low weight loss this second month I upped it on my own to 60. We shall see what the weight loss is during this 3rd month. However you did great with the 60 pound weight loss so it seems to be working for you. GOOD FOR YOU! I don't see any stats so If I may ask, What weight are you at now?

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers

I wasn't online yesterday evening. Didn't see this till now. I am sorry you are in such pain but glad to hear you are getting the necessary treatment for it. Hoping you have been able to get some rest and will be home soon. Sending good vibes and prayers your way. Get Well Soon!
  14. lost nothing again today 2 weeks now without losing and only 8 week post op in my second stall. Very frustrated.

We had surgery on the same day and I seem to be in a stall as well. Hopefully just a 2 month thing?

I am frustrated also - it amazes me how I can eat less that 1000 calories and not lose !!! Lets just try and be so happy for what we have lost - knowing lucky us we are slow but wonderful ;)

and I will cling to the idea in month 3-4 its gonna come off a bit faster ... I am way way happy I have lost 41 pounds though - my doctor is also - YAY!!!

    3. MIMISAN

      MIMISAN

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow and have been in a stall for about a week now. In a way its frustrating but I have decided that I am not going to let it freak me out yet. I know I am eating less than 1000 calories a day and I am getting enough protein so I will just try to relax and wait it out.

    Have to Brag

That is fantastic, Good for you!! I know the feeling you speak of and it is a wonderful feeling. I had it when I reached 5.4 miles on the trike this past Friday. I finally believed I would be able to do the 14 mile bike challenge in Feb. An even better feeling was when a co worker told me she was training too and rode 2 miles and would be right beside me during the challenge. Your going to breeze right through this marathon. Be sure someone takes pictures of you crossing the finish line with that smile a yard long on your face.

    Any south Florida sleevers?

I would think the first thing to starting a meetup is deciding on a location that is free and then getting a day that is good for everyone. Anyone know of any free meeting places where food is not involved? A church or clubhouse or maybe a medical facility that has free rooms we could use? The last one that was setup was at a park and I know it was not a good day for me. I gather at that time no one else was interested as the meetup group site disappeared a few days after it was started. We should probably meet to learn about each other and discuss what kind of a meetup group we want, social, educational or a combination of both. I am from the Lake Worth and physically disabled with an electric mobility device so traveling long distances down into the Fort Lauderdale area is not good for me and of course having some place that is handicapped accessible is needed.
  17. Everyone is doing so great. Congratulations!!! I had my 3 procedure surgery on Jan 26th. I had a good weight loss the first month 22 pounds. Since Feb 26th I have lost only 5 and am on my second stall since surgery. I just don't understand with all the weight I have to lose that my weight loss is so slow. I am getting discouraged. I bike 5 miles a day 5 days a week and am eating under 500 calories and my weight hasn't moved since March 8th.
  18. Sorry to hear you had dry heaves and had to be readmitted. I had a hernia repair, and a gallbladder removed in addition to the sleeve. My surgeon gave me a patch to put behind my ear the night before surgery and I was fine. As for the scale not moving I too am experiencing that as well. I lost 19 pounds the first 10 days. Lost nothing for 2 weeks. I lost 8 pounds over the next 3 weeks and now I am at a 2 week stall again. Yes it slowed down once I got to eat food also. Even though all I ate was an egg a day during that third week I didn't lose a pound. Tuesday will be 8 weeks and total lost since surgery day is 27 which turns out to be an average of 3. 37 pounds a week. My exercise is riding a trike 5 out of 7 days due to my disability. How many grams of Protein are you eating in food a day? If your not getting 60 to 80 grams of protein then a shake a day would be good. I still have 1 protein hot chocolate in the morning and it helps to get me to the 60 grams of protein. Keep going strong. I hear things will pick up once we are truly healed as we both are still healing.

    Tomorrows the BIG day!

Tan4sho glad to hear your getting discharged. Your probably home by now and resting. Didn't they give you a patch behind your ear so you wouldn't throw up?I got that patch the night before and also had a pill the day of surgery and for a few days after, never throw up. Hope your night is going well.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

I watch the Sean episode too and agree with what everyone has said here. I too was shocked that he was not admitted at first to the hospital and sent back home to diet on his own. I was hoping he had lost some but to gain that was unbelievable to me. I give him a lot of credit though for being mobile. Many of the show's participants weighing less than him were bed bound. I was so close to 500 pound myself once so I understand there is much more to losing weight than the diet. If I hadn't met with the Psych for over a year I would still be 497 pounds, bed bound and married to a feeder. Instead I am out enjoying life, riding a bike 5.4 miles in 53 minutes after having lost 210 pounds. I am even nominated to possibly become the new social director of my community. I only hope that Sean saw that he has lots of life left to live. After all he is only 20 compared to my 60 years of age.
  23. 8 weeks post op just did 5.4 miles of biking in 53 minutes !!

    Tomorrows the BIG day!

Hope your doing well! Sipping and walking are the 2 main goals for the next few days. If you got pain meds to take home use them for at least a day or 2 to help through the pain if you have any. Let us all know how your doing when you can.

    pain after swallowing

I am also 7 weeks out and I am still experiencing pain under my left breast area after eating too. Some times it happens and other times it doesn't. Last night I could only eat 1 1/2oz of ground turkey and 1/4 cup of refried Beans and I had pain. Tonight I had 3 ounces of Lobster and had no pain at all. Very weird. Our stomachs are still healing and are sensitive to some things especially if they aren't chewed well and we eat too fast. I don't know when things will be getting better but I know each day is a new day and hopefully less pain for us all.
