Possible Revision
Losingit2018 replied to kglowins's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Here is an interesting article I read that helped me to feel better about revising https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-12-03-dangerous-drugs-linked-to-fatal-diseases-and-cancer-heartburn-meds-death.html -
Possible Revision
Losingit2018 replied to kglowins's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Gerd leads to Barrett’s and cancer. Definitely have to get it taken care of. There is the option of taking ppis for life but they are finding out those can lead to all sorts of other problems such as dementia. -
Possible Revision
Losingit2018 replied to kglowins's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I totally understand! That is exactly how I felt. I came very close to backing out of the revision and taking my chances with the ppis. plus at the time of my initial surgery I almost switched to rny right up until surgery. My thoughts were that I did not want to have the surgery twice. Don’t fear the bypass though. Just be sure to take vitamins every single day. Keep up with having your bloodwork done and you should do just fine. -

Possible Revision
Losingit2018 replied to kglowins's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I revised from sleeve to rny almost 9 weeks ago because of gerd. I am just now starting to have pretty bad hair loss so it does happen with each surgery. I am not due to have vitamin levels checked until next month. I keep up with taking vitamins and if there are any deficiencies, I will correct them. I think that a person just has to stay on top of being checked so that nothing gets too far out of control. I no longer have gerd and my hernia was repaired. So far the surgery has been well worth it. -
Woohoo!!! Awesome job you have done. I hit it myself last week and it is a great feeling!! congratulations!!

6 weeks out - how many calories are appropriate?
Losingit2018 replied to Fat2FabMyWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never lost my hunger after sleeve surgery either so I can relate to you. I did stick to my food plan and continued to lose weight for the first 9 months. I agree that you still should be losing weight. Maybe you should give you nut or dr a call. -
sleeve to rny
Losingit2018 replied to kata0683's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Why are you considering rny or plastics? To lose more weight? Have you tried tweaking your diet? You may be able to lose more weight without revising your surgery I personally would not consider plastics unless I was happy with my weight and stable for awhile. Give us more info and we will try to help you with your questions. Are you still sticking to your eating plan? -
Do t give up. Some insurance companies just put you through your paces to get the benefits that you are entitled to. Someone has overlooked something.

I think that they are just putting you through your paces. Have your dr appeal the denial. Hang in there because I really think that you will get approved. please keep us posted.

Revision if you already have a gastric bypass?
Losingit2018 replied to Polishanita1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Wow this is the second time that I have read about a person having this happen in just the past few days. I do hope that they are able to get you sorted out quickly. good luck! -
I did but I am not typical. I knew in my heart that the bypass would have been a better surgery for me from the start. I feared the malabsorption and possible complications from bypass so I opted for the sleeve. never experienced gerd in my life. Until after my sleeve. about 1 year post sleeve I had gerd and a hiatal hernia. Ended up having to revise to bypass. Some of the things that made me think hard about having the bypass in the beginning was that I did not want to have to do surgery twice. having said that, there are many people that do just fine and are successful with the sleeve.

Two silly questions re: protein and lower starting weight
Losingit2018 replied to CheerfulLoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be getting a minimum of 60 grams of protein your surgeon sounds like a quack! Why would he even do an rny if your only hope was to lose 20 pounds? you are just in a stall. Increase your protein, continue on your plan and it will break. hang in there! -
Having a hell of a time lately
Losingit2018 replied to MaineDoc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that many of us experience this. I called it “food funerals” Just get back on track as quickly as possible and you will do just fine. -
Just starting the process
Losingit2018 replied to lostnowfound3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will not disqualify you as long as you are receiving treatment and the issues are well managed. welcome and good luck! -
I am having my surgery in 8 days
Losingit2018 replied to Money s's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree since you are allowed jello and protein shakes it should be fine. I used to freeze my shakes and eat them with a spoon like ice cream. It helped me to stick to the diet. -
weird numbness is belly. Anyone else?
Losingit2018 replied to alah9586's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It could still be your nerves healing from the surgery. You may want to give your dr a call just to be sure. -
Me too. I got good arch supports for my shoes and never, ever go barefoot. Haven’t had problems with it since.

How many calories are you supposed to eat 2 months post-op?
Losingit2018 replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was only getting about 400 calls per day for about the first 6 weeks. I track my macros in mfp and just started trying hard to increase the calories with healthy options and it has been working well. I get in about 600-700 calories now and am continuing to lose weight weekly. -
Plastic surgery is the only way that I know of to get rid of the extra skin. Most insurances will cover tummy and breasts IF you have a record With your dr of skin rashes and or lesions in folds if skin. To my knowledge this only applies to breasts and tummy.

Nausea vomiting one year out
Losingit2018 replied to roselover50's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is gerd and is quite common with the sleeve. I too would wake up with acid flowing from my nose and mouth. It was horrible. Best option is to revise to a bypass. you need to see a surgeon. They may put you on a ppi but those are not safe long term. Gerd can lead to much worse things like cancer. Please see a Dr ASAP. -

For those who have lost 100+ pounds
Losingit2018 replied to lbugher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 5 pounds away from hitting the 100 pound list mark. I had horrible pain I. My knees, hands, elbows and feet from arthritis. I was taking tumeric with bioperine and it worked amazing well for inflammation. now that I am nearly 100 pounds down, I don’t even need the turmeric anymore! i t just got cold where I live the past few days. I do feel a little achy in my knees now but nowhere near what it used to be. I am sure that my knees are damaged from carrying so much weight around though. I truly think that I was close to needing one knee replaced before losing the weight. I don’t feel that way anymore. while you are trying to lose, do yourself a favor and try the turmeric. Just be sure that it has at least 10 mg of bioperine ( black pepper) in it and is 95% curcuminoids. Give it a week ir two of taking daily and you will be amazed what a simple spice can do for inflammation Good luck on your journey!!
