  1. This is horrible but not at all surprising to me. I have seen some stuff in hospitals. Please do wait until after you are discharged and then make a report to the hospital administration about your treatment. It may not do a bit of good but you may help someone else not to experience your same nightmare. I do hope that you get out of there soon.
  2. I am so glad to have found a nice group of people to share this journey with. That alone is very comforting.
  3. I felt the same way in being disappointed with the 6 month requirement. But, it truly ended up being a blessing. I had a lot of things come up in the last few months that would have made me cancel the surgery if I had been scheduled right away. Plus, I too have taken this time to learn everything that I can about the surgery and beyond. I don't plan to fail at this
  4. Wow. @FluffyChix you have done great losing 60 pounds pre op! I wish that I would have got myself in gear before now and done the same. I think that I am having food funerals for all of the stuff that I love and know will not be able to eat much of post op. Just have not been able to get myself on a diet and exercise program yet. I did download MFP and plan to start tracking everything. I am scheduled with cardiologist on Jan 5. Next I have EGD / colonoscopy on February 8. I have to complete 3 more classes / support groups between now and then and will be ready for surgery. Thinking about the risks involved can be very unnerving at times. Then I consider the risks of being close to a 50 BMI I need to have this surgery for my healths sake.
  5. I am looking at mid March for surgery. I too am finishing up my insurance 6 month requirements and my surgeons requirements of attending 10 support groups and having various medical tests. They are all scheduled to be complete by the start of february. Then I will start my one month pre op Optifast diet. I too can use all of the support that I am able to get.
  6. Thank you for the info. I wondered the same things as most Drs give heparin injections while still in the hospital. This is sad for you and a bit unnerving for the rest of us that have not yet had surgery.
  7. I complete my 6 months supervised weight loss in February as well. All of my pre op testing is already scheduled to be complete by the start of February. I am pretty certain that I will have my surgery in March since I will start my 1 month Optifast diet in February. I was so hoping to find others that will have surgery at the same time as I will.
  8. I have not yet had surgery but, I have done a boat load of reading. These are things that I see working for others post op that are not able to tolerate the shakes anymore.
  9. Have you tried unjury high protein chicken soup? Fairlife Milk is another non sweet, high protein option that may be worth trying. You can buy the Fairlife milk in most grocery stores. There is also the option to get unflavored protein powder and add it to other foods. Hang in there and good luck!
  10. I am so very sorry for your loss. Creekimp gave you excellent advice. I am not able to add anything to that but, I did want to express condolences. How sad this must be for you and your husband both.
