I am STILL waiting for approval.

I am STILL waiting for approval.
Losingit2018 replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes no sense that the insurance company won't talk to you. I have UHC and I knew that I was approved before the Dr knew. They called to see if I wanted to enroll in an optional program for WLS patients. I asked if I had been approved. He put me on hold for about 2 minutes and then came back and told me that I was. You need to call them back and ask for a supervisor if needed. This is your health info and if anyone should have access, it is YOU! One more thing. I did get a copy of the approval letter in the mail. That took about a week and a half though. I feel sure that they will mail you a letter one way or the other. But, it is your info and you have the right to know by calling them. -
Any March 2018 Sleevers?
Losingit2018 replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! 19 pounds in 5 days is incredible! Do try hard to get water and fluid in. You don't want to get dehydrated and end up back in the hospital. -
I have to take chewables so I chose Opurity Bypass and Sleeve optimized chewables. They are once per day plus I have to take 1 calcium citrate at night. Only $30 for a 90 day supply direct from the Unjury site.

After submitting to UHC insurance, how long did it take for approval?
Losingit2018 replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have UHC. My paperwork was submitted on a Tuesday afternoon. I was approved by 10 am the next morning. Good luck! -
Any March 2018 Sleevers?
Losingit2018 replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The Gas X only works for gas that is inside your stomach. The gas that they pump you up with is outside of the stomach. Only thing that will really help is to walk and move as much as possible. -
Any March 2018 Sleevers?
Losingit2018 replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Take it one day at a time and try to drink as much water as possible. Two weeks will fly right by. When you start to get too nervous, try and distract yourself with other things. You could check out Youtube videos and see how well others have done. -

Any March 2018 Sleevers?
Losingit2018 replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am on the optifast diet. I can have any sugar free liquid along with my shakes. So, jello, popsicles, etc as long as SF. I am a week and a half out. It does get easier after the first 4 days. Try and drink as much liquid as possible. -
Premier Protein Clear
Losingit2018 replied to AskingForAFriend's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Heads up. Sams wholesale has the PP drinks on sale $4 off per carton. The clear is $15 others are $12.66 per carton (12). The clear is actually better for you post op as it is isolate ( better, more absorbable protein) unlike the regular shakes. -
Woohoo!!!! Congratulations. Just goes to show, where there is a will there is a way.

Were you expected to lose weight from consult to first nutrition appointment?
Losingit2018 replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really not horrible so far. I bought the entire months worth up front to save the 10% Got all strawberry shakes because it is the only thing that I thought tasted ok. I get 5 of those a day plus a small very specific meal each day. I even have some free foods like SF popsicles, pickles, cucumbers, sf jello. I was on a medifast diet years ago so kind of knew what to expect. The first three days are hard. After that you kind of lose your appetite. Drinking lots of fluids help to keep stomach feeling full as well. -

Cool. 3 months isn't too bad. From what I have seen so far, I think that we are in good hands. My surgery is March 26. -

TMI.. Could i take a exlax vs. Muralax
Losingit2018 replied to Yosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Really not safe to go for more than 3 days without a BM. You don't want to be dealing with a blockage. Miralax is very safe to use every single day. It is so gentle that it is used on children. If it will make you feel better, check with your Dr to be sure. -

Losingit2018 replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I was never expected to lose any weight until now. I just started my 4 week pre op Optifast diet. Now I must lose 8% of my excess body weight which will be fairly easy to do. So, don't sweat it. -
TMI.. Could i take a exlax vs. Muralax
Losingit2018 replied to Yosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been taking miralax daily for 11 years now without issue. MUCH safer and gentler than taking exlax. I have talked to many bariatric patients that take Miralax daily. Lack of fiber in the diet could be part of the issue. -
New Premier Protein flavor!!!!
Losingit2018 replied to Maggie1955's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No problem at all. I will ask this Wednesday and report back with what they tell me. I too am curious as to the reason. They actually give us samples of it pre op so it's not that it isn't good quality. Just not an option to use post op. -
I haven't tried it but have heard of it. Does have decent reviews at Walmart by several bariatric patients as well. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Protein2o-Protein-Infused-Water-Variety-Pack-16-9-Fl-Oz-12-Count/54393878#read-more

It is if you have sleep apnea. Another point to note is that untreated sleep apnea does damage to your heart. The sooner you get diagnosed and treated, the less damage will be done to your heart.
-
It sounds like you would be wise to get tested whether your surgeon requires it or not. Using the cpap made a huge difference in the quality of my life. You get used to the mask fairly quick and feel so much better that I never want to sleep without it.
-
They all seem to do it differently. It seems like the trend is moving more towards doing them in your own home though. I took my test years ago and had to sleep at the sleep center. I slept in a room that looked like a normal bedroom and it wasn't too bad. Of course everyone would be more comfortable at home in their own bed though.

New Premier Protein flavor!!!!
Losingit2018 replied to Maggie1955's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Premier is a mix and not a pure whey isolate. I am GUESSING this is the reason that my team prefer I not use it and use only pure whey isolate. We absorb things differently post op. Like I mentioned, I am guessing at this. I will ask at my weekly class on Wednesday and post back. This comment was mentioned at a class on a totally different subject by another patient so I do not have any details as to why. I feel sure that the reason will be solid though. My Dr and my team are top notch. -
New Premier Protein flavor!!!!
Losingit2018 replied to Maggie1955's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No. I will have lots of choices and can buy from where I choose. My pre op diet only is optifast because that is what my team has found works the best. My group provides support and care for the rest of my life at no additional charge. They are far from scammers trying to milk what they can from everyone. -

Losingit2018 replied to Maggie1955's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have heard that quite a bit. One of the reasons that I am not doing much stocking up pre op.
