  1. I am on phase 2 of my teams full liquids. That includes cottage cheese, sf pudding, strained creamed soup. I have 2-3 ounces 6 times per day plus 3 protein shakes (must be 100% whey isolate for best absorption) Next Wednesday I will advance to soft solids like ricotta cheese, soft deli meats, soft cheese, etc.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I am using calcium chews since 1 week out. No problem whatsoever. I also use chewable multi that I prefer to suck on rather than chew. No issues at all.
  3. I had the spasms. I think that they lasted about 10 days. They did get less intense before then though. My plan did away with puree BUT, I am on full liquids for 3 weeks post op. I did Optifast 4 weeks pre op so I hear you on being sick of liquids.

How are fellow March sleevers doing?

YES!!! Extremely painful. I have used moist heat all weekend and thank goodness the pain is subsiding! I had a 4 week optifast pre op diet and now a 3 week full liquid diet post op. I am starving! Not head hunger but, real hunger. I have to wait until the 18th before I can have real food. No puree stage for me though.

    Blended Shakes and Swallowing Air

I use Syntrax with no adverse affect. I have learned to put the fluid in the shaker cup before the powder so that it does not get foamy. Love the Chocolate Truffle

How are fellow March sleevers doing?

I do not have the same thing that you have going on but, I do have a seroma at my right incision where most of the work is done. Very painful. I called the on call surgeon this afternoon just to be safe. You may want to do the same

How are fellow March sleevers doing?

It looks like we are on the same type diet. You must increase your protein though. You need it in order to heal. If your body doesn't get enough protein it will leach it from muscle and other areas. I make a shake that is 53 grams of protein each shake. I drink one when I get up and one before bed. That gives me 106 grams of protein. Other protein that I get during the day is just added bonus. BTW- I normally take Miralax daily. When I was constipated post op, my Dr told me to take Milk of Magnesia. It will do the job

    HELP! I Can’t Pass Gas!

Is the gas causing you pain? I didn't pass any until 4-5 days after surgery but, it didn't cause me much pain either. I took Milk of Magnesia on advice from my DR 5 days post op and had several BM's afterwards lol

    After Care

It wouldn't hurt to call around to bariatric Drs near you and ask if they would do follow up care. I know a person that had hers done in Mexico and did find a group that was willing to provide follow up care for her here in the US You will need specific blood work done at regular intervals and bariatric surgeons are most familiar with what needs to be checked
  11. I forgot to mention this. The thing that caught my attention about your post was the fact that you had been on so many diets only to regain that you gave up dieting. I did exactly the same thing. I felt that yo yo ing was worse than being overweight.
  12. I had many of your exact same questions when I started my surgery journey. I just had surgery one week ago so I am not a pro at this. Statistics say that the success to failure ratio is 60/40 so you can indeed put the weight back on. Seems to me that the key is to have the determination to make the changes and stick to it. I intend on tracking my calories/fluid/protein/carbs even after I reach goal. I also intend on weighing daily so that if I do gain a few pounds, I catch it quickly. I had the sleeve. Although it will relax after some years down the road, it will never grow back. My tool will always be there to use for life. I have seen people with regain just go back to the basics of where they started. They typically lose the weight and are more cautious the second time around from what I have seen. Most programs offer a free seminar. Maybe you could attend one near you to get more information. Good luck to you!
  13. Yep. Stick to the plan and the weight will drop. Sadly, we don't put it on overnight and can't take it off overnight. Hang in there.
  14. That 4 oz per hour is for people just out of surgery and still healing. If you are eating junk already, you will be able to eat more than other sleevers who are sticking to the protein first rule. Most junk food is slider food that will not stay in your pouch and keep you full feeling. It sounds like you are having head hunger instead of real hunger. Maybe you need to seek therapy to deal with this? Surgery fixes our stomach but, can't fix our mind.
  15. Have you been released from the hospital? I was in a good amount of pain when I woke up as well. They did keep it under control with meds at the hospital. Plus, I was given antinauseous and pain meds for home to keep it under control. I was instructed to take my meds on schedule for the first week and then slowly reduce. Pain will indeed impede healing. Plus, pain is much easier to control before it escalates. If you are home and were given nothing, call your surgeon and let them know.

    101 pounds and weeping

That is a major accomplishment. Huge congratulations to you and I wish you continued success.

    2-Week Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

I just had surgery on the 26th but, I did a pre op optifast diet for 4 weeks pre op. The first week was hell with carb and sugar withdrawal. After that first week, it got much easier. Hang in there. This will make your surgery much safer and be well worth it in the end. Remember to drink as much water as you can hold. It will help flush the toxins out and give you a feeling of satiety.

    Weight on Drivers License

Pretty sure that I was honest on my last renewal. I knew that I wouldn't be able to fool anyone since my picture was there as well. Just as soon as I drop even half of my weight, I will be going to the DMV for a new picture

    Functioning alcoholic ... an update

This is fantastic news!!! I agree with Sleeved. Find good support wherever you are able to do so. I hope and pray that you have continued sobriety and continued health and weight loss Huge congratulations are in order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. This ^^^^^ add to that try room temp. Even frozen popsicles until you find what you can tolerate. Even at 20 ounces you will be in trouble fast. I had surgery same day as you. I find bone broth or any broth to be soothing. Hang in there and try everything until you find what works
  21. I will most likely enjoy dressing up once I get this weight off. Your ladies group sounds very cool.

    No weight loss

Sounds like you may be on your first stall. I think they normally happen around 3-4 weeks out. Keep doing what you are doing. The weight will stop dropping again.

    The struggles are real!

I just had surgery on Monday. Before that I had a 4 week optifast diet. We had to have 5 protein supplements per day and could have one small very specific meal. It was extremely hard to do the first week. That is when the body is detoxing and withdrawing from the carbs, sugars, caffeine, etc. It will cause a severe headache. After that first week, it gets much, much easier. Stick to it and you will see. You want your liver to be as small as possible for surgery and it will be well worth it!
  24. I am 55 and don't care to bare my skin or other body parts like I did when I was younger. I really don't care about what is in or out of style either. It is all about comfort for me. I am a casual (not sloppy) dresser and suppose that I always will be. Tee shirts, tennis shoes and blue jeans are what I prefer to wear.

How are fellow March sleevers doing?

Two days out. Doing ok. Still nauseated when trying to drink. I have real hunger as well but it is not overpowering at all.
