I had some of the same fears you have. I asked a bunch of WLS vets about vomiting. Every one of them told me that it is not vomiting like we know it now. It is more like regurgitation. You have plenty of time to make it to a discreet place IF you need to bring something back up. As far as the other issues, I would think that you would know if these things are or could happen before you went to a public place. It would not happen unless you had some sort of complication or were sick. Have you considered asking your Dr for something for anxiety? It may be very helpful to you until you can get through this. Good luck!

2 week diet hard
Losingit2018 replied to Mindi Melissa b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do a 4 week optifast diet before surgery. The worst part was the first 4 days. It got a little easier after that. Try and drink as much liquid as you can hold. It helps. Good luck and hang in there! -
Nauseous all the time!
Losingit2018 replied to JShively1993's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had much nausea but, I was given two antinausea meds. I took one in the morning and 1 at night. Maybe you should call your surgeon and ask for something better? -
Yes. I have some B12 in my Optum Multi but, if there comes a time that I need more B12, my surgeon said to use subligual. That gives a steady, daily amount of B12 rather than one quick jolt of an injection every three months.

Yes. There are actually quite a few reports of people that end up getting GERD after sleeve. One of the only options is to revise to a bypass.

13 Days Post-Op and Scale Stuck for a Week!
Losingit2018 replied to Gundy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat as you are in my first few weeks. I actually had two week long stalls within the first month after surgery. Try and stay off the scales for a bit. If you continue to stick to your plan, the scale will move again. Promise! -
Regarding caffeine
Losingit2018 replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told by my group that caffeine can cause ulcers. No caffeine for me. Not worth the risk. -

6 Weeks Out and Struggling
Losingit2018 replied to Czuck1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am closing in on 6 weeks as well. I too was having issues eating/drinking. You know what worked for me? The Mucinex D that my Dr told me to take if I ever got nauseated or the foamies. It is kind of gross but when our stomach is larger, there is plenty of room for the sinus drainage that gets dumped there everyday. Not the case when most of our stomach is removed. When the tummy is overfilled with sinus drainage, it comes up as foamies. Give it a shot. Worth a try for sure and good luck! -

Can the surgeon leave more of the stomach if requested with VSG surgery
Losingit2018 replied to JR15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not sure about that. My surgeon used a 32 FR but does not make it tight to give better chance of no leaks. I have had zero issues and feel like I can eat more than I should be able to eat. -
Ginger Peach Chicken

Thanks for posting this. Sounds moist and yummy. Will give it a try. -
I am using a bariatric COE. My Dr and Nut said no patches. There are many vitamins that just can not be absorbed through the skin. B vitamins are one example. We were advised to use chewables from an approved list. I was very lucky in that I chose Opurity Sleeve and Bypass optimized multi chewable and Opurity Calcium Citrate chewable. They both taste good and are very inexpensive. I had no clue just how bad some of the others taste until I started trying some out of my bag of samples given to me by my RD. Some of them truly made me want to hurl.

Pre-Op weight loss improves WLS outcomes
Losingit2018 replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I get what you are saying but, this group does teach good nutrition and lifelong skills needed to succeed as well as requiring the 4 week pre op diet. My thinking is that it speaks more about the fact that people that actually follow the pre op diet are more likely to follow the post op diet/instructions. As for having a better outcome when losing weight pre op, the surgery is safer and not as many complications if the patient loses weight pre op. I could be wrong. I will have to take another look at it tomorrow. -
Multivitamin/Calcium/iron patches
Losingit2018 replied to stargirl19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My RD told us that the patch is not a good option. Many vitamins can not be absorbed through the skin. We were instructed to never use vitamin patches. -

That study was conducted by my group of Drs. that did my surgery and is the regimen that I followed pre op. Cool. -
Unflavored protein powder
Losingit2018 replied to Chrisb428's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I use and like Nutricost Unflavored Whey Protein Isolate. I got it on Amazon. Paid $45 for a 5 lb container. They do offer smaller size containers as well. -
One week post-op and hungry!
Losingit2018 replied to Darin'Sharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too get hungry at regular intervals and have since a few days out from surgery. I have talked to many others that get hungry as well. Not everyone is lucky enough to lose their appetite after surgery. I know that I was not. Try drinking something if you feel hungry and it is not yet time to eat. Also, try taking a Tums or other antacid. Too much acid in the stomach does create what feels like hunger. Hang in there and stick to the plan. You are not alone. -
1 month out, I don't want to eat
Losingit2018 replied to Jonsie27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 6 weeks out and on solid food. I have talked to many sleevers that did lose their appetite. Sadly, I am not one of them. -
1 month out, I don't want to eat
Losingit2018 replied to Jonsie27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks out from surgery and have not lost my hunger. I was so hoping to be one of the lucky ones. Enjoy it while you are able to but, do be sure to get your liquids and protein in. -
Bypass vs Sleeve
Losingit2018 replied to lauren18's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Right. I know that there is a reason that it is left there. Still if there were issues stemming from it, you may have a very hard time finding that out. It is not easily accessible at all. -
It sounds like you may need counseling to help deal with your eating disorder. Maybe you could at least check with your surgeons office to see if they could recommend one that deals with eating disorders?
