Appetite back with a vengance!
Losingit2018 replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you cut way down or completely cut out most of the carbs that you are eating, you would see a HUGE difference not only in your BS but also in your appetite. Eating carbs puts us in a vicious cycle and you will continue to be hungry and crave carbs. Try it. Even just for a week or so. You will see a major difference. -

I have found that the key to eating eggs (for me) is to make sure that they are cooked soft or have some type of sauce on them. They must be moist in order for me to eat them. I mash up 2 hard boiled eggs with a bit of greek yogurt and it works very well. -

I am a caretaker for my diabetic mother. I test her bs twice a day as directed by her Dr. Once in the morning before breakfast and once at night before dinner. If her bs is out of range in the evening, I increase her (combo) insulin by 2 units the next morning. If her bs is out of range in the morning, I increase her insulin by 2 units at night. This is the method that her Dr gave us and it works very well. Not sure if it will help you or not but wanted to toss it out there. -

Nice. I bet it is very pricey as well though. -
Appetite back with a vengance!

I have had a very similar experience. I knew ahead of time that not everyone loses their appetite. I was just hoping to be one that did. My appetite is higher some days and I have had days like you speak of being extremely hungry all day. It was NOT head hunger but real hunger indeed. I am still losing weight very well though. I always have good, healthy snacks/meals on hand. On days that my appetite is sky high I still try to eat healthy stuff even if it is more of it. I don't really worry about calories either. I stick to having protein with every single meal and snack. I worried a lot at first. Just like you do now. But, I am losing weight and very happy with my decision to have sleeve surgery. Hang in there. It does get better. -
10 years post-op, watch your minerals!!
Losingit2018 replied to shrinkingpamela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the info. I am guessing that you are speaking of something like this? https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/trace-minerals-research-trace-mineral-drops-2-fl-oz/tm-7023?mr:trackingCode=47365D84-C9E0-E511-80ED-00505694403D&mr:referralID=NA&sourceType=sc&source=BPA&acqsource=adlucent&utm_source=BingProductAds&utm_medium=CSE&utm_campaign=Trace Minerals Research&utm_content=TM-7023&utm_term=4580840320774813&adlclid=ADL-6a92e7b0-67b6-47ba-87e8-e40b1b4a8411 I think that GNC carries it and may be available on amazon as well. -
Question to those who suffer from SERIOUS back pain... What do you do pre-op for workouts?
Losingit2018 replied to J San's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I am a fellow chronic back pain sufferer. Pre op I used resistance bands. Now that I am post op, I joined my local Y for water aerobics and to use various gym equipment as I progress. Hang in there and good luck to you. -
TMI topic.. pre-op protein diet and extreme diarrhea!

Try Syntrax powder mixed in Fairlife Milk. I suspect this will help you out a lot. Syntrax is lactose free as is the fairlife (not to mention that it has higher protein than plain milk) Plus, Syntrax is a better quality of protein than the premier. I like the Chocolate Truffle and Cookies and Cream best. Good luck! -
Even if you have never had bs issues before WLS, it is common with RNY to have reactive hypoglycemia. I have read many posts on this subject. I know that some RNYers that suffer with it carry the sugar tablets with them. You really need to follow Drs orders with this because it can be quite dangerous if you get to the point that you are fainting. Would not want that to happen while driving, etc. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I have will come along and add more information here. Good luck to you!

Have you considered talking to your Dr about this? I wonder if it could be due to a medication that you take? I know that many hormonal things come into play for women after WLS so, maybe the same is true for men. Low testosterone possibly? Really would be a good idea to talk to your Dr. I bet that the Dr has seen this type of thing and would have a better answer of what may be going on. Good luck and please keep us posted on what you find. Never know when the info could help another person out.

You are making the assumption that people are offering to pray to a god or their god for you. Often times people say that they will pray for you meaning that they will be thinking positive thoughts and HOPING for a positive outcome.

5 days post-op & having an emotional day
Losingit2018 replied to snoozingcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is caused by hormones. Unfortunately you may have many days that are like roller coaster rides. Hang in there and realize that it is all due to hormonal changes going on within your body. Soon you are going to be very happy that you made such a wise decision. -
All of these plans are so different that it is hard to say what will be covered on your first visit. Three is not very many so I would think that they will cover a lot. Ask questions and take notes. Most will have written information to send home with you. I had so much that I bought a binder and hole punch just to keep it all organized. Good luck!

Fantastic job!!!! Big congratulations to you! -
My NUT told us that plenty of the grease soaks into the meat and not to try and fool ourselves by peeling the breading off. No fried foods for me again. Ever.

Dizzy, light headed... low bp

Have you checked your blood sugar? This sounds like it could be a possibilty that you are having hypoglycemic episodes. I hope not but you would do well to see a Dr as soon as possible. -
My experience has been the same as yours. I have an appetite and hungry a good bit of the time. I have been on a regular food diet for the past two week. My plan is to eat small meals 5 times per day. I do get full on those meals but, I am plenty hungry two to three hours later. I too am disappointed that I never lost my appetite as I thought that I would. You are not alone.

Super slow weight loss

That is funny! My adult son didn't know much about WLS. He thought that I would leave the hospital skinny. I told him that sure would be nice! lol -

Fairlife milk has 13 grams of protein per cup. If you use it to make SF pudding and maybe even add some unflavored powder, you will have a great protein pudding. -
I have always read that it gets better. That is the main reason to have bypass over sleeve from what I have read.

Being healthy pre op is a great sign that everything will go just as it should. Soon the surgery will be behind you and you will start the greatest journey of your life. Good luck and please post when you are able to do so.

Following the Dr but 2 Wks post & stalled/overeating?
Losingit2018 replied to vsg4vfc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oops, one more thing. Do up your water intake. That and getting enough protein is exactly what will make the pounds start falling off. I had a hard time with fluids at first too. Just find a zero calorie liquid that you really, really like. That will help you to get more in. -
Following the Dr but 2 Wks post & stalled/overeating?
Losingit2018 replied to vsg4vfc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First off, take a deep breath. My journey started exactly as yours did. I could not feel restriction, could eat more than others, had a pretty good appetite and was worried because I didn't lose anything until the 3rd week. I put on 11 pounds of fluid in the hospital and I did lose that in the first two weeks. Keep sticking to your plan and the weight will come off! I can't even believe that your Dr was so discouraging about your loss. When exactly was the last time that you were able to lose 5 pounds per week? Keep telling yourself that the rules of logic dictate that there is absolutely no way that you will not lose weight if you stick to the plan. Sadly, we can't lose it overnight but, the good news is that with our new tool losing it is very doable. Hang in there! -

Do yourself a favor and get some Torani SF flavors from amazon to flavor your snow cones -
I eat 5 very small meals per day. I get hungry every 2-3 hours. I so wished that I would have been one of the lucky ones that had to remind myself to eat. It was just not to be for me.
