    Pre-op liquid diet

Try some unjury chicken broth it has 21 gma if protein per serving. Get some sugar free flavored syrup and pour it over crushed ice to chew. I just did my second pre op liquid diet and am now on post op liquid due to revision.it truly sucks but is so important to stick with it. The purpose of the pre op is to shrink your liver. This makes it easier for the surgeon to get to your stomach and makes the surgery much safer for you. Try to find things to do that will distract you from food. You could also try the clear protein 2o to see if you can tolerate it better than the shakes. Drink as much sugar free liquids as you can to help you feel full. This is just a short period of time that you have to do this. The rewards will be well worth the effort. Hang in there and good luck!

    Gastric bypass or sleeve

Chiming in as another that got gerd and hiatal hernia from sleeve. I just had my revision to bypass on Friday. I wish that I had listened to gut instinct and went bypass from the start.
  3. I just had surgery Friday. Brought a bunch of stuff I never needed. The hospital provided chapstick and I wore a loose fitting dress home. With no bra. Just a jacket over my dress. I was only in one night. My incisions are also glued on the outside. Good luck to you!

Did mine today - by robot

I must not have hit submit on Thursday on the post above. I had my revision done robotically onFriday. I also had two IV.

Thanks and congrats! I have mine done robotically tomorrow. I needed to hear something positive today

    OOTD

I agree with poster above. I am looking from my phone and I can see the outline for sure. To me it does not look natural at all. Sorry but I know that I would want people to tell me what they see as well. You might get away with it in something other than that dress. Not sure.

    First signs of gallstones?

I had mine out years ago. An attack felt much like I would imagine a heart attack feeling. The pain was severe and would not let up. I did get nauseated towards the end. I had to do no fat at all for a few days before my gallbladder surgery in fear of having another attack. I would say that it is very likely what you are experiencing. You may need to go to an er next time it happens. If it is your gallbladder you don’t want it to rupture. Goid luck and keep us posted

    dumping?

Hmmm not sure but you may want to try skipping them and see if it helps. I was just watching a YouTube on a person that tried a cracker at 4 weeks and dumped. She tried again at 8 weeks and had same thing happen. From what I have seen it seems like we all have to figure out what may cause dumping for us. What causes it for one may not for another.

    dumping?

One more thing that I thought of is the protein bar They aren’t all created equal. Check the sugar content. My dr rule of thumb is that it needs to always have more protein than carbs. Although at 3 weeks out I was still on a soft food diet.

    dumping?

That sounds like dumping. Crackers and slider carbs should not be a part of your diet at this point. I have talked to people months out that dump when eating crackers, chips, etc

  13. I am so afraid that I will have complications with rny. I did so well ( as far as complications go) with my sleeve. Afraid that I won’t be so lucky the second time around. If I were getting reflux daily I may feel differently. It is bad when I do get it but just don’t have it very often.
  14. This sounds like me. I am way more nervous about the bypass than I was with my sleeve. I had no complications with my sleeve and wondering g if I will be as lucky with rny. I do have an excellent surgeon so that is comforting. I understand exactly what you mean. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers today. Please update us when you are able
  15. Thanks for sharing that info. I am set to revise from sleeve to bypass on Friday. I also wish that I had started with bypass. I swore that I would never revise. I do have gerd and hiatal hernia. Plus I only lost about half of excess weight with sleeve. Still the episodes of reflux have not been all that frequent. Here I am the day before surgery. Still wanting to back out.

    Reflux or nausea

Is your stomach feeling queasy? Or are you having acid come up into your esophagus? You may want to check with your bariatric team just to be sure there are no problems.

    so scared

So sorry that you are spending your bday in the hospital. Please try to keep your eyes on the prize. I understand that will be hard. Keep reminding yourself that by your next bday this will all be a distant memory. You will be much healthier by then. Your next bday will indeed be happy. Just try to get through this bump in the road as best you are able to and hang in there.

Did mine today - by robot

I am having a revision by robotic surgery on Friday. I am wondering if that one shot per day that you speak of may be blood thinners? If so, many people have to do that post op to avoid blood clots. No matter if surgery was robotic or not. This is the only kind of injection that I could think of that you have to do yourself at home.

    DS for lower BMI revision

I am revising from sleeve to bypass on Friday. I really never researched the ds surgery until recently. The fact that people that have had it are still able to take nsaids would be a big plus in my case. I am riddled with arthritis. However I have read that it is a much more complicated procedure. Bigger concern of vitamin/mineral deficiency as well. But the chances of not only losing the weight but also maintaining are outstanding. I kind of wish that I had researched it before now. good luck with whatever you decide!

Wow! You look great. I would never, ever guess that you were ever even overweight! You seriously look like one of this super skinny people that never gain an ounce. Congratulations on your success!!

    so scared

Hang in there, Emma. Better days are coming. You have a lot of support here too. I know that it’s not the same as having people physically support you but mental support can be very helpful as well. Keeping you in my thoughts and following your progress. Godspeed on healing and getting back on track. Sending you gentle ((((hugs)))) across the net.

    Dr. Michel - Summerville SC

I am having revision surgery with Dr Michel next week. I could not agree more about everything that you have said about him. I am certain that I am in very good hands.
  23. You could tell him that you just had surgery without revealing what type it was. That way you could explain that your food choices are limited while healing.

    Hungry

Like the others have already mentioned. Warm drinks and broth. Jello and popsicles. I used to freeze my protein shakes so that I could eat them with a spoon like ice cream. Just keep reminding ding yourself that this will only last a short time. You can do this! I am on a 2 week preop diet right now for a revision from sleeve to bypass so I do feel your pain. Hang in there and good luck.

    So many chest pains

I agree. This really sounds like your gallbladder. You need to insist on an ultrasound. Severe attacks can feel like a heart attack. Try to stay low fat on what you are eating until you can get tested, goid luck and please keep us posted!
