  1. That makes sense. I saw your post in another thread and all of those symptoms pointed to deficiency. So since you are not absorbing, they are high in your blood?

    Bariatric team approval?

It sounds like they may be overly busy. Maybe you need to start being a squeaky wheel and call them daily to every other day. There is no way it should take this long to be submitted. If they had their ducks in a row, it would be ready to submit as soon as you finished the program. Goid luck and keep us posted.
  3. Following i do know that we are not supposed to take b12 unless confirmed low for non bariatric patients. I wAs only taking it once a week or so with sleeve. I feel sure that when I see my dr for first time after revision to bypass he is going to tell me to take it daily. It can build up and cause issues if not needed. I plan to talk to him about that.

    Help!

This^^^^^ is exactly why I said you should lawyer up before contacting them.

    Edema after surgery and iv

    I wondered the same.

    Not losing or gaining

Ok your surgery is 2 days away and you didn’t lose. Are you saying that you did or did not stick to the liquid diet? If you did not, you may want to think about coming clean with your dr. Thing is that diet is to shrink your liver making surgery easier for dr and safer for you. Your profile is blank so no clue what size you are now. Your dr will decide whether safe to move forward of if needs to postpone. This would be your safest bet. If you did stick to diet you should feel that your stomach has shrunk. If you truly did the diet and no weight loss than don’t worry about it. I only lost 8 pounds on my liquid diet and was concerned. My dr told me that he only expects 5-10 pounds loss on the diet. Hiwever, my stomach had gone down quite a bit and I was told afterwards my liver was nice and small. Good luck to you.

    Eight Months Out

Anytime that you get discouraged, click on fluffychics profile and read her posts. She is truly amazing with how far she has come and what she went through to get here. Her story will inspire you. Btw- according to her profile, she is 55 years old. So, age did not deter her from coming as far as she has

    Edema after surgery and iv

I had swelling post op as well. I drank plenty of fluids and walked/ moved around as much as possible. The fluid went down after several days. Hope that helped.
  9. Thing is that you do not want to heat the protein powder up too much. It will become denatured if heated to very high levels such as boiling according to my nutritionist. t

    Blue Care Network of Michigan

Yes if your surgery doesn’t happen until January your deductible and oop start over. No matter when you are approved. Could you possibly get your surgeon to do it before Jan 1? May be worth a shot.

    High DEDUCTIBLE

The way that most insurance works is that the deductible resets and you start all over as of January 1. Wouldn’t hurt to call the number on your card to be sure though.

    Feeling winded

Did you use your spirometer when you got home to exercise your lungs? I was very winded for about the first week out. It was from the anesthesia. It should improve greatly for you as you recover. Hang in there.

    Help!

Wow. Just wow. I would bet that they just seriously dropped the ball and didn’t test at all. First thing I would do is to make sure the baby is ok. Second thing that I would do is to lawyer up. Get advise from an attorney before contacting or making any statements to your bariatric team. If nothing else this needs to never ever happen again. Please keep us posted. I will keep you and your child in my thoughts and prayers.

Day 10 of pre-op liquid diet

Yes. My local Walmart’s also have the clear premier protein drinks.

Day 10 of pre-op liquid diet

Pretty sure that most Walmart’s have them. You can also get a few different clear versions on amazon but I know that you are short on time. Good luck!

Day 10 of pre-op liquid diet

I am post op from revision and can’t tolerate the shakes either. I am using bone broth, unjury chicken broth and fat free fairlife milk instead. I also drink the clear protein 2o drinks.
  17. Hoping that it all went well for you today!
  18. I never had a band. I had sleeve surgery back in March of 2018. I developed gerd and hiatal hernia so had to revise to bypass 9 days ago. Recovery hasn’t been horrible. I am still on liquids for 2 weeks post op. The biggest hurdle I could see to going back to a sedentary type job would be the weakness and lack of energy. I feel at least some of this will get better at my 2 week mark once I am able to eat soft food. I hope that this info helped and good luck!
  19. It would be very hard to find one comparable in nutrition. If you choose to do this, be sure to check the sugar content. Most protein bars are glorified candy bars.

    Can't handle protein shakes

I am going through the same. Was fine with shakes with my sleeve but can’t handle them after my revision to bypass. I use fairlife milk (13 gma protein) unjury chicken broth (21 gma protein) and bone broth (10 grams protein) to get my protein in. Hang in there and good luck.
  21. This is the first time I have seen juice on a bariatric meal plan. It naturally contains high amounts of sugar. My plan says no juice at all. Even after healing it is better to eat the fruit than drink the juice. I know that all plans are different but juice can’t be good. Especially this early out. I use one ounce medicine cups to keep me from drinking too much too fast.

    5 days post op

Get some if the one ounce medicine cups. Drink from them and try to stick to one ounce every 15 minutes. That’s worked for me.
  23. I had both surgeries. Sleeve back in 2018 and revision last week. I got sick when I ate anything rich and sweet with my sleeve. So, having a sleeve will not necessarily keep you from getting something close to dumping syndrome. Good luck with your decision!
