About Me
After an extensive career in Nursing, my back was very badly injured due to a double lumbar disc lesion in 1997, effectively ending my working life & forcing very early retirement at age 41. At 40yrs of age, I was diagnosed with diabetes (Type 2, initially) plus hypertension, and hypercholesterolaemia, plenty to manage there, until my workplace back injury significantly added to my woes. I have quite extensive knowledge and background medically, and whilst still in the UK, attended Sheffield University studying Human Physiology. Having had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy only recently in Brisbane, Australia (Feb 5th 2019), and only 2 wks ago starting on full/normal diet, I found these forums hoping I could both learn and contribute, that I could add my own knowledge to assist others when needed, and taking on the expertise of those having gone through their own VSG journeys. There can be no question of the challenges that are faced after VSG or bypass surgeries, let alone the many already present with obesity and, often, diabetes and other medical and psychological problems associated with it all. I hope I can be of help within this place, and also that I can learn from the experiences and comments of others. My name is Lindsay, and I am happy to be here.
