  1. Hi all, I am almost a year on from my Gastric Sleeve (April 22 2018). Surgery went perfectly and very few immediate symptoms. I had a lot of trouble getting food down at first with hot flushes and nausea if I ate too much or too quick. It took a while to start seeing any weight loss. But it's a lot easier now. I've lost 40kg (about 90 pounds I think). With another 20kg to go for my ideal weight. About 6 months ago I started getting REALLY bad indigestion. I had never had indigestion before the surgery so it took me a while to figure out what was going on. It would keep me awake and I couldn't sit still for hours. But it would pass. Then a few months ago it started getting so bad that I was throwing up and crying etc. Last night, for example, it started at 6:30 pm and didn't stop... I was pacing when I could move, and in the shower for hours (for some reason a warm shower seems to make the pain more bearable). I hadn't slept the night before because indigestion was bad then too, though not AS bad, so I was falling asleep while walking! Sometime around 4am I was so tired I fell asleep despite the pain still being very very bad. When I woke it had subsided, though I'm achy and stiff. I had to take the day off work today, which can't be maintained. It's not all the time... maybe once every few weeks... often a couple of times in one week then nothing for a few weeks. I have tried antacids and they did NOTHING. I then did some reading that suggested it could be LACK of acid instead of too much acid so I am now taking HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) with Pepsin 650mg every time I eat. This did seem to help for 8 weeks or so, but now its back as bad as ever. I don't know if I need MORE of the HCL or if I should avoid it, cos maybe too much was the problem... I just don't know. I have a doctors appointment booked, but I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar condition and gotten to the bottom of it. Were there particular foods that triggered it? Did you work out if it was too much acid or too little and what did you take, etc? I haven't worked out a particular pattern with food. Often seems to happen when I've had dairy or salt... but then other times that I have either of those, nothing... so I'm not sure. Thank you for any advice!!! My

    The dreaded gas

It gets easier! Promise! That pain sounds really rough though... have you had it all checked to make sure it's normal? Cos that sounds like more pain than expected for sure! I wasn't really in pain at all by the time I went home.

    FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS

YOU'RE LOVELY! And those kids should be complimenting you EVERY day! You look amazeballs. I see weird crinkly skin but only when I'm looking for it. My belly and stuff I don't mind but my face I wanna fix!!!

    Yup. I regret this.

Oh poor you! I definitely had moments where I regretted it. When I was throwing up every time I ate. And hot flushes constantly. I now have extreme indigestion (Like crying and vomiting and not being able to stop pacing or sleep or do anything for hours and hours at a time). Nothing as bad as what you are explaining, but it's been tough. Still is at times. But overall- a year on- worth it. In fact husband and I were discussing the best things that happened in 2018 on New Years Eve and we both agreed to Gastric Sleeve for me, was the best thing we did. It was expensive and terrifying and has been hard but I am down 90 pounds. I'm still way above ideal weight. And I lost nothing at first. But I have more energy. I feel better about the world- less depressed. I'm better at work, because I don't feel as judged or unworthy. Still not able to conceive (this was the point for us) but feel like we may get there soonish. Give it time before you beat yourself up about it! 4 months is nothing in the long run. Terrible right now... but in three years it may seem like a little blip. I really hope it all gets better for you! xxx
  5. Thanks elcee I don't THINK it's my heart. Very much back and stomach pain... not around the heart. That said when I had a blood clot near my heart (years ago) I didn't feel it around my heart at all!

    FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS

I'm not at the point of wanting photos with my body in yet... but I can see the change in my face (I'm 40kg down... so about 90 pounds).... The first photo is on my birthday about 6 months pre op... almost at my heaviest. And the second now, sick in bed, but almost 1 year post op. (BTW Anyone found a solution to saggy jowls and neck skin???)
  7. Danieocean. Did you get any more info? I'm in the same boat. Have dropped about 4 cup sizes. This is blessing as they were monstrous. But my previously full breast have begun looking like deflated balloons. I don't want a lift until after kids though (which is HOPEFULLY soon). But would love to not look so saggy until then...

    The dreaded gas

If it makes any pre-oppers feel better... I didn't have much gas pain at all. Slight discomfort like you'd get if constipated, but that was it really. I woke up from the surgery (when I came back from 'going under') feeling like I'd been hit by a bus but was asleep again 10 minutes later (once I'd spoken to my husband) then I woke again 4 hours later and insisted on getting up out of bed... had a total hot flush... but that was it... was up and walking etc, easy on the first day and felt pretty much normal (though faint from lack of food) by day 2. I know not everyone is so lucky!!! I don't know if it was because I was super super strict about my pre surgery diet or I just got very lucky or both. A year later and I get excruciating indigestion that I am trying to solve. So don't hate me- those of you who had the gas post op! My
  9. I didn't lost much at all for about a month. Everyone else who had it at the same time lost heaps immediately. I have PCOS though so that may have impacted. Or just different people being different. - Now I'm one year in and have lost two thirds of the weight I want to lose. Once it started coming off it was steady and easy. Give it time.
