One month post op sadness!
Kathy 0522 replied to jazzyj13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 1 month out and feel the exact same way. I honestly would feel better if i didnt eat or drink anything. I know i cant do that but eating is a struggle. No real solid foods yet , and how much can you chew applesauce. Even the protein drinks are just too thick. I thin them out. I keep trying to introduce new foods and dri ks but i need to be careful so i dont develop an aversion to them. I know its mainly mental, but the gag reflex happens in an heartbeat. Laying down all the time is troubling. This is certainly NOT me -

Nights spent in the hospital after sleeve surgery?
Kathy 0522 replied to killerqueen86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I stayed two nights. It helped me stabilize which was a good thing. -
I was told to take it slow and listen to what my body can tolerate. i need to keep getting something in me. All i do is rest waiting for it to subside. I am soooo tired

Im really having trouble with all food. All drinks, water. Everything gets stuck and i simple wait for the food to pass down while im so sick. Everything wants to come up Ive been trying all the suggestions. Ive pureed many different varieties. I was drinking the shakes. But they hurt now. I know that it is all healing, but this is hard. I have no desire for anything to pass my lips

I am going on 3 weeks. No one explained how much my endocrine system would be impacted and as a result the hormones, mood swings. I had soaking sweats, and was chilled to the bone!! Dealing with the pain, post surgery yuck, sleep patterns all askew, i was a mess!! Im a fairly logical person and my body's physical response really has thrown me. i also had major alterations in my taste buds and smell. Everything smelled and ta sted bad. My Dr and medical staff have helped. Using some medication help forh sleep and emotional wellness has been a stabilizing factor, not a crutch. I can appro ach my nutrtional needs sooooo much better -

Ohhhhh yeah. My surgery was march 7th. It will still take my breath away on occasion. Only pull-ups for me. The ice bags helped take away the swelling and i use the belly band when im just too sore. I know the surgery pain is diminished but the internal swelling \incision sites are sore. This is my 8th abdomial surgery: two c sections, gall bladder, hernia etc etc so this wasnt my 1st rodeo, it didnt make any difference, healing comes with some pain. Its not just "uncomfortable", it can hurt I howver, was given good pain meds etc etc & to help with the moods swings. No one told me about those!!I Lost 23 lbs, but im not going to be a scale watcher. Im in for a healthy lifestyle

March 7th and i still am having bouts of extreme tiredness. I really dont remember much about the first week + after surgery. Thank God my husband kept me on my liquid schedule. He got me up and walked me. I also had a fairly large hernia repair that was fixed during the surgery. I am so grateful to my surgeon. I found one of the best and the staff was so excellent.

Does Walmart rotisserie chicken have too much sodium?
Kathy 0522 replied to skinny4kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
im entering my 3rd week and struggling to get enough protein that isnt all shakes. I just bought one of those chickens. De-boned it. Threw all the bones into the stock pot. Cleaned out the refridg of odds and ends of vegetables. I also threw away the skin but left in the gel part. I simmered it, strained the broth and set it in the refrigerator over night. I skimmed the fat this morning. Then took all the bits and pieces of chicken and pureed it. This eve i used about a ladle of the congealed broth, added veg , finely chopped and simmered till VERY soft. Added a tablespoon or so of chicken to the broth and seasoned it to taste. It was so comforting. I look a looooong time to eat 1\2 cup or so. I simply must take it slow with the food. Otherwise, only pureed foods thus far and liquids My husband will have some meals of the larger pieces of chicken. Im resting and napping quite a bit during the day. A couple of good days, then a set back. i finally have had a couple of full nights sleep -
