    April 2019 Surgeries!

Just taken my Pico-prep. A little worried how gruesome it may be. I check in tomorrow morning 10.30am at hospital. Yikes. I need to pack my bag this evening too. I hope everyone is feeling well and any discomfort or pain passes ASAP.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

It’s the day before surgery for me. I’ve been battling a sore throat and cough the last week, which has left me exhausted. I spent most of yesterday wondering if I’m doing the right thing having surgery. And worried about still being sick before I even got to surgery. Felt quite overwhelmed and wondered why the hell I’m doing this. I’ve been madly searching on Instagram for inspiration. I’m nervous I’m not ready for this. Worried about getting through liquid diet still and nervous about knowing what to do after. Yet still know it’s what I need to be doing. I hope everyone is doing really well. Take care.

Thank you for your information. I have tried the Bodiez Protein water in the Orange and Berry flavours and liked it. I also bought their unflavoured one to put in soup, or mix in other flavoured diet cordial with ice and water (like a frozen slushie), yoghurt and to make jelly with, I also make gummy bears with it too using collagen gelatine. (It’s a NZ brand that is organic and look after their cows) It’s great. I hope you’re feeling ok and can sleep. Thank you again.

Also, does everyone have a drain in one of the surgical sites after the operation? Just wondering what it is like. I realise maybe not all surgeons do this. Thank you.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

@KateBruin I hope the gas pain goes really soon!!! I’m not till Wednesday 10th. To Kate above and everyone else, when you are having clear fluids after surgery, are you mixing in a no-taste protein powder in the broths, jelly and juices?? I have packed some protein water to take with me to hospital. Wishing everyone well. I’m going shopping for pj bottoms to wear in hospital on the weekend. And any other things I need. I’ve stocked up already at home with broths, V8 juice, sugar free cranberry juice and water protein powder. So I hope I’m all ready. Nervous/doubly excited!
  8. Hi 👋🏻 just wondering who is having their operation on April 10th to share the journey.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

@Bari_KS how did you figure out ‘Kreis’? I have Googled and searched everywhere for Okutsu Savannah or the other way around. I found a couple of pages in the Longview, Washington area. But no one that looks like they need surgery. Anyway, it’s just a bit laughable, it’s like if I went to a stockbroking forum and started posting a gofundme page for getting some capital together to invest. Can you imagine the deluge of comments that you would be plastered with for that!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

@okutsusavannah I’d suggest creating social media accounts and doing it there. Yes, you are actually specifically targeting people whom are having the same surgery that you say you need. However, you are specifically posting/targeting people who will identify with needing the surgery however in this particular forum and site you’ve chosen to post is to people whom are quite highly emotional due to pending surgery and in most people’s good nature they would want to help someone whom they feel is in the same spot as them, I just don’t think being how highly pre-occupied with a massive life change for people that it’s particularly fair to come and post here for your surgery needs. I also viewed your gofund me page and you do not list a real name, where you would be having the surgery, which Dr and showing quite an open accountability as to your actual intentions and references to your social media (which you say you do not have - and even though they could also be setup as fake accounts) I’d rather see a lot more detail and even then it’s still not appropriate. I wish you all the best. I straight away thought oh, yeah how nice to give to someone but I thought I have no idea who this person is. I would like to make people aware/question how valid your intentions are.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

@okutsusavannah I don’t think it’s particularly appropriate that you share on this site and forum asking for money. I realise you are asking for a minimal amount. It’s just not appropriate to do so, I’m sure you have your own social media you could let friends know and they can share from there.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I hope everyone is doing really well. I had a small hiccup in my pre-op diet on the weekend. But back on track. My weight has gone down a little. It’s 8 sleeps till I’m on my way to hospital and surgery day. I just want it to be here already. I feel like I’ve been in a holding pattern. Anyway I have things to keep me busy till then. After all my years of dieting and to-yo weight. Part of me is ambivalent about that feeling of waiting till my weight has gone right down that I’ll be happy at the end. (I used to have a lot of attachment to ‘a certain weight making me happiest’. I know that’s not the case since I reached it quite a few times and there was still life to deal with and then I was afraid of staying there, keeping my weight. So a part of me is slightly excited to be getting rid of this weight to have my life back so that my knees, back don’t hurt. I can actually start to go walking and not be embarrassed and not be in pain and more importantly I need to get fitter. I think part of me is a little scared and also a bit teary I’m doing something for myself. It’s been a while since I’ve been kind to me/looking after myself. I’ve fallen down so many times in the last 4 years, yet still get back up. I’m a little worried about falling down and not picking myself up. I have isolated myself due to my weight and stopped seeing friends, going out. Feeling a bit daunted by all the change that is going to come and a teeny part of me scared that it won’t come. However I can only take one day at a time. Clearly I’m reflecting on a lot today. Anyone reading this, I am ok. Just feeling my feelings in a good way. Must be some grieving for what has happened. Finally reached the surface to start paddling and moving towards being more functional in all areas of life. I’m wishing everyone in April all the very best. Be well, I hope anyone in recovery from surgery is doing really great - May it all go smoothly, if there is any pain or difficulties it will pass take deep breathes and think of the bigger picture. (Clearly notify a nurse or your Dr if you’re in pain - I’m just wanting to reassure that any tough bits we will get through it) 8 sleeps, hurry up already! Much love & peace to all.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hi, I like things explained to me also for the reasons why, not just told, here do it. I’m glad you got your answer. Don’t be sorry, you are not late - arrived just when you needed to. Take a deep breath, about a goal weight, take your time. I had the same nerves about should I be doing this, is it the right thing. All I can say is I somehow came to accept it. Because I’ve done my research on the Dr, I’ve struggled too long trying to lose weight on my own. I realise there is a lot to learn and plenty of things ahead that are unknown, however, just taking one step at a time. It was also helpful for me to listen to a lady on YouTube who documented her sleeve surgery. She went into detail and was intelligent and balanced about her approach. It gave a firsthand insight as to what it was like at each stage. I’ll find the link and add it on here for you. there are movie vlogs on her YouTube ch. wishing you all all the best @PurpleBloom

    April Sleevers

@girlaccountant hi lovely, ask your surgeon why it is just the two days before. Your Dr should be comfortable with any questions you have. Don’t be worried to ask. Also Happy Birthday for tomorrow. Wishing you all all the best.
