Anyone else NOT eating like they should Post-op?
I Am Groot replied to cristobal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although I didn't experience it, it's not abnormal. As a matter of fact, my nutritional guidelines state if you have problems with the next stage, then revert to the previous stage; however, if illness persists, call the office. -
I recently flew for the first time since surgery, which was 2 months ago. Last night, my first flight was delayed, so if course, it forced me to walk as fast as possible to catch my connecting flight. When I made it to the gate, I noticed I wasn't nearly as winded as I was when I had to do the same thing in January (or all of 2018). I also noticed that walking up inclines at the airport felt like a normal walk and not like a fight for life.

***Qustions for Sleevers***
I Am Groot replied to Healthy_life2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you feel you were given enough information on this procedure pre op and post op? Yes. I could have had more information had I attended the seminars and support groups pre-op. I did, however, perform tons of research and went into my surgical consult with lots of questions in mind. Did they explain that you will still feel real and head hunger with any surgery procedure? Or tell you hunger will go away? My nutritionist explained "head hunger" and told me I would not feel real hunger immediately after surgery but couldn't give me an exact time frame as to when real hunger would return because it's different with everyone. Did they give you clear instructions on how to work your plan? Yes, but not as clear as some. My plan is structured by weeks and under each week is a list of foods along with how much protein and water I should consume each day. By week 6, I have guidance on how many calories, carbs, protein and fat I could consume each day for long term weight loss. Some people's surgeons provided a day by day timeline, which I think is nice. Was the psych evaluation just a hoop to jump through? Would you have benefited doing more therapy before surgery? My psych evaluation was a joke. It was computer based and.... honestly, I shouldn't even answer this question. lol. Were your follow up appointments with your surgeons and dietician helpful? I've only had one follow-up so far, but it was quite helpful. I plan to meet with the nutritionist at least 3 more times over the next 9 months and will continue with the surgeon's follow-ups as required. Did you understand that you can gain weight back? Did they help with a list of instructions and things to do and not to do? Yes, I fully understood weight regain is possible. Yes, they provided instructions on what to do and not do, which is the same instructions for weight loss pre-op. The difference is if I want to take full advantage of the tool, I have to do what it takes to permanently make a lifestyle change. This is my opportunity to make the changes stick this time. If you had regain, did you contact your team and were they helpful? NA - I'm too new ** typos expected. I don't proof before hitting submit. lol -
April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like I'm another slow loser as well. I had hope to be one who could boast about losing 60 lbs in 2 months, but nah. lol. I lost 6 lbs over the last month and 33 lbs altogether. I'll take it (... as if I have a choice 😉). I'll kick cardio up a notch next month. -
Yep. It was on my list for week 1, but I drink significantly less because: 1. I dislike artificial sweeteners 2. I have to use non-dairy creamer for now. I'm a half-n-half girl.

PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
I Am Groot replied to GastricGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Give it time. You're only 2 weeks out. Also, there's a chance you'll lose no weight at all for a few weeks (search 3 week stall). Mentally prep for it, because if slow loss is bothering you now, the stall will be a mind ****. 2. You started at a lower BMI, so naturally, your weight lost will be slower than someone who weighs more than you. 3. Search the board for people who started out at a similar weight. Your experience is likely more normal than you think. You may need to reset your expectations about the process. Good luck on your journey. -

Awesome! I hope my stall breaks soon. -
What is something that SURPRISED you during your entire process? For example - I'm a sugar person, but from the pre-op diet to now (1 month post op), I do not crave anything sweet. I wasn't expecting that at all.
-
I guess it's time to establish new goals! Toning? Increase muscle mass, even though I doubt you have much fat% at 130 lbs. By the way - congratulations at reaching your goal weight.

Even with the stall, things are moving along on my end. The important part is that I get to eat eggs and peeled fresh fruit tomorrow. That's all that matters, especially since all of the soft dairy products are causing severe water retention. I'm still happy to be down about 30 lbs total. -
And there's room to spare!
-
My plan says I can have peeled, fresh fruit at 5 weeks.

Yep! I stalled for 5 days in week 2, then completely stalled in Week 3, with some added water weight. I know it's water weight because my ankles are swollen. -
I don't know if it's normal or not, but mine was supposed to start on the day of surgery (4/4) and here I am, still waiting.

Getting sick after morning meds/vitamins
I Am Groot replied to TripleM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take my bariatric multivitamin at night. I'm talking about that moment when I roll over into the comfy position... I spring up, take my multi-vit and get back into my sleep position. -

Sounds like things are going well. Working from home helps a lot. I'm telecommuting right now as well, so I was able to "return to work" the first Monday post surgery. -

Soft foods, yum. I will get there tomorrow. If you don't mind me asking, which procedure did you have in 2004? -

Congrats on hitting movement goals and the restraint to have mint tea and water while out and about! I need to improve with walking, which is one area from which I suffered prior to surgery. Good luck! -

Our experiences are quite similar - minus the anxiety and lap band (I had the sleeve). Well, my brain said I wasn't anxious, but my pre-op blood pressure said otherwise. I chose to wear Lany Bryant's lounge bra during my first week and it really helped. Glad all is coming along well for you! -

Anyone else eat melba toast?
I Am Groot replied to angie_is_losing_it's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Melba toast and multi grain crackers are on my list for Week 5. I never ate them before surgery and don't plan on it, since I don't see the nutritional benefit (mostly of melba toast).
